RogueParadise

Hello, my name is Han, I'm 25 from Scotland! I love writing and am most motivated by sharing great stories with other writers, so would love to be a part of this community.

1.    Tell us how you found us, please? A link from another site, another member, a search engine phrase, etcetera.
  • I found this site mentioned on Reddit while looking for good roleplaying forums.

2.    Confirmation that you understand our rules. You are responsible for bringing up any questions if you do not understand our rules, so please note any on which you need clarification here.
  • Fully understood!

3.    A confirmation that you are over eighteen (18) years of age. You don't need to give your birth date, however we do need a clear statement that you are of age.
  • I am over 18.

4.    Your native language(s) and what region you are from. List your primary language first and include all others in order of fluency. Elliquiy is an English speaking community but it is also a global one.  We welcome members from all over the world, and we love to know where our members hail from.
  • English
  • I also will use some Scots dialect in casual conversation but not often to write with (unless applicable).

5.    What are your reasons for joining Elliquiy, and what aspects of our community are you interested in? What do you look for in an on-line community in general, and a role-playing community specifically? Please be descriptive. Elliquiy isn’t just an adult roleplaying site: we have forums for storytelling, poetry, and art; places to socialize with other members; areas to discuss politics and religion; and so much more! You can check out our Preview of Elliquiy to get an idea of what you’ll see as an approved member.
  • I love collaborating on stories, plot lines, characters and their development, I find it's a great way to exercise my creative writing by sharing it with others, instead of just writing in a word document alone where I often become quite uninspired quite easily! I also love just connecting with people, I'm very into politics and love animals (all the pets), happy to chat about most anything!

6.    Are you new to roleplaying? If so, would you like someone to help you get more involved? If not, please tell us a little about your past experiences. Regardless of your experience what are your expectations from a roleplay partner?
  • I have RPed on and off for over 10 years but not for a few years now, mostly one on one but some group plays. I'd want a partner to enjoy detail and expanding universes and characters, developing relationships, I can write fairly full paragraphs (or more) so I enjoy someone who will give back as much rather than just a few sentences (though I'm flexible as I know there's not always loads to be said).

7.    Elliquiy consists of a wide array of sexualities, personalities and enthusiasts of various kinks. How comfortable are you interacting in such a community?
  • I'm open to anything, so very comfortable. And also very good at minding my own business if something doesn't interest me.

8.    How do you feel about males writing as female characters or females writing as male characters? Please elaborate: do you do this yourself? Would you write with someone who is doing this? If you are transgender or intersex, feel free to adapt this question appropriately.
  • I don't mind it as long as characters aren't caricatures of who they're writing. I'm a woman but I have a lot of experience writing male characters with quite a few male OCs from my old RPing days, and I like the freedom to do so, and understand others wanting the same!

9.    Let us know about your pet peeves or other things that bother you. Fetishes you do not like, styles you cannot appreciate and attitudes that annoy you are all valid answers here.
  • I don't like undescriptive writing styles, I want to know characters thoughts and feelings and what the atmosphere is and the room they're in! And a pet peeve is not using quotation marks well (or at all), and, for fetishes, incest is one I'll never be able to get into.

Optional Questions:
As our application process is a chance for us to get to know you better, we've left a few optional questions to get you started.  A member of our Welcoming team will be along soon to continue the process. If you do choose to answer these at a later date, you will need to reply to your introduction thread with a new post, as unapproved applicants cannot edit posts.

A.    Would you like to disclose your gender identity? We do not require our members to reveal their real gender. However, doing so determines your User Group, Badge, and some OOC Boards on Elliquiy. General membership will be processed as Legate - approved members who do not wish to disclose their gender identity, or feel gender is irrelevant. Approved members who have chosen to reveal their gender as a response to this question will be assigned: Lady (for those who identify as female), Liege (A supportive group for individuals who are intersex, do not identify with one singular gender, or who are transitioning), or Lord (for those who identify as male). A full explanation of Elliquiy’s User Group and Badge system can be found here.
  • I am afab and identify as female as well.

B.    What are some hobbies or activities you particularly enjoy? This can be anything you enjoy in your free time. For example: videogames, sports, cooking, crafts, traveling, reading, etcetera. As a large and diverse community, we often have social areas where our members can talk about their favorite things. Let us know what you like so we can better help you find boards, threads, or discussions that might interest you!
  • I have horses so that takes up most of my time as a hobby and activity, I enjoy riding but also just owning and looking after and the whole horsemanship of it all. I like reading, my favourite series ever being The Hunger Games (I read it when I was twelve and it has been my personality ever since). I also love Taylor Swift (amongst other artists), my username coming from her song Coney Island - do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there?

C.    What would you do if a writing partner suddenly, and without prior discussion, included one of your major offs in your roleplay?
  • It's never happened to me, so I'm not too sure, but I'd probably (at minimum) pause the RP to talk about it, if there is understanding and agreement to not bring it up again, I would probably be okay to move past it, depending on the issue.

D.    Please describe your writing style and preferences. Information such as preferred genre, writing perspective (first, second, or third person perspective), setting, and post length are great answers.
  • I like real life situations but enjoy supernatural things and some fantasy as well, I'm really quite flexible as long as I can develop a good character! I like a good romance trope but also a well-written friendship / familial storyline is always fun, and I like some of drama. I prefer third person for RP as I feel it works a bit better, but I have experience writing first person and can easily adapt. Post length I can be flexible, the longer the better for me but I know it's not always possible, but would like at least a full paragraph instead of just a sentence or two.

E.    Please describe your ideal roleplaying partner and their character.
  • Someone descriptive (as you can tell from previous answers) and happy to discuss things OOC, I'll never get sick of talking about plot, and the character is really depending on the setting/storyline.

F.    As part of the application process, our members like asking fun questions of applicants. We want to get to know you and entertain you during your approval process!

F1. Please let us know if you would you prefer: fun/silly questions, writing prompts, both, or neither. If you opt out, Staff will ask you more serious questions about writing and roleplaying instead.
  • Both would be totally fine with me!

F2. If you would like fun questions or a writing prompt, please start by treating the following as either a question, writing prompt, or character building exercise, and remember to keep it PG13: People start waking up with superpowers, but they are mostly useless. For example, the power to be immune to every third bullet, or the power to force people to do the chicken dance whenever the song is played. What would your ‘mostly useless’ power be, and how would you use it?
  • My most useless power would be to know the exact volume of anything. It doesn't come up much in my life but I'd like to win one of those "how many sweets in the jar?" things, or tell someone how much water was in a lake and they wouldn't know if I was lying because they wouldn't know the truth and there's no way to know. But I'd know.

F3. If you prefer no crazy questions or prompts, you can still include a sample of your writing, if you would like; we would love to see your writing style and creativity! As with all areas of Elliquiy you can see right now, please keep your writing sample PG13.
  • Something short, I'm a little out of practice. And, full disclosure, this comes from a WIP Annie Cresta (The Hunger Games) fan fiction that I've been toying with.

Sometimes Annie wondered what death would be like. Floating in the ocean, with the sun blazing high above in the sky, her fiery hair swirling around her, so far away from everything that plagued her. This is where she felt most free, gentle waves carrying her offshore, the scent of the salt and the sea air gracing her nostrils. If she were to die now, she would be happy. Her mother had once said that death was a hug from an angel, they'd take you in their arms and to an afterlife. Paradise, her had mother called it. Annie wasn't sure if she wanted an afterlife, eighteen years into the current one and she felt she'd seen enough - hurt enough. And if the afterlife is a paradise, how would she know she wasn't in it? In the ocean, it felt close enough. She supposed she'd know when it came time to leave - if it came time to leave. In a true paradise she'd never leave. Her friend Cora, said her grandfather told her that in death you serve punishment for all wrong you did alive, and only then would you get a chance at a paradise. She said that everyone has done some wrong, other than maybe babies. But her uncle, he told her that death was nothing. It was like a dreamless sleep except you never wake up. Just black, empty, nothingness. Annie hated that one the most. If she thought about it too hard, her head would spin, her pulse would race. And she thought about it a lot. All of it. Paradise, punishment, nothing. She weighed them up. Weighed them up against her current life. Most times, any of the three won out.

Greetings and welcome to Elliquiy, RogueParadise!

Thank you for taking the time to complete the questionnaire, we can’t wait to get to know you better!

During the approval process we have a whole bunch of things to participate in and occupy you, should you choose to explore a little and you can find those as well as other helpful information over here. Just make sure you come back to this thread regularly to see what our lovely staff and approved members leave for you by way of greetings, questions and so on. Just to let you know, the approval process usually takes a minimum of 24 hours and can run anywhere from a couple of days to a week depending on various factors faced by the approvals team. Your understanding and patience is appreciated.

Please remember that before approval all posts and interactions must be kept PG-13.

So, with that taken care of, it’s very nice to meet you and I’d like to leave you with a question to get things going...

If animals could talk, which would be the rudest? Conversely, which creature would be the most polite?

Looking forward to your answer and best of luck with your approval!

Hello, thanks for responding and no worries at all on the timeframe!

Well, to answer the question in reverse, I think spiders would be the most polite, which I'm sure will be an unpopular opinion, but I'll be honest I have never been bothered by one of those guys. They hang out in their corner, they mind their business, I feel like if they could talk they'd just give me a heads up that they're around, maybe let me know they're planning on popping down for a bit so I don't stress when they come down the wall.

Sticking on the insect theme because why not, horseflies would be the rudest, they're the most annoying buggers I've ever come across, just attacking and biting and I feel like they'd just taunt me. "Ooh you won't hear me coming but I'll take a chunk of your leg!" I hate them with a fiery passion.

Thanks for reading :)
