E as a political entity

I was deeply touched by the recent rules announcement “We are not going anywhere.”

To the extent that E is making a political statement, it appears to be this: “We exist. Our dreams are for each of us to choose. And we have a right to creatively express those dreams.”

It is, for me, a very powerful statement that feels dangerous at times. I have left more than once. I keep coming back. Today, I feel proud.

We exist. Each of us can choose our own dreams. And while our dreams are often incompatible with the dreams of others nearby, we exist together. Coexistence is possible.

I, too, was relieved and encouraged by Vekseid’s announcement.  I’ve come and gone as well, but even during absences knowing E has persisted for so long and still thrives has always been a comfort and an inspiration.  I adore so many of the people I’ve encountered in this unique venue and am glad of the opportunity it provides so many fellow travelers.  I know all things must eventually come to an end, but not this place, not so soon.  Five years or fifty, it hasn’t been enough time to spend amongst such excellent and admirable hobbits.

Thank you for abiding with us a while longer, Veks.  E prevails!

E has been such an important part of my life. I've met so many incredible people here, and I've learned so much in my time on these forums. Even during my absence, I would constantly think about this place - hell I even stayed a Patreon subscriber during all that time. Because even if I wasn't here, I still wanted E to exist, and be there for others.

Hands down one of the best communities on the internet.
