Superheroes, everybody's favorite topic here in the group section of Elliquiy! Thrilling action in skin tight, usually revealing outfits. What's not to love? This is a simple request thread for a group game I'm hoping to start up on here. This will be a system game using one of my favorite RPGs, Masks: A New Generation. Masks is a simple easy to learn RPG about playing as a fledgling group of superheroes. No experience with the system is required and I'll be explaining how to play to everyone as needed. If you've been interested in trying out an RPG, but haven't had the chance, this is a great game for you!

As you might have assumed, I'm looking to take our superhero story for a bit of a kinky spin. I'm interested in exploring all of the common superhero tropes you see on here and on other rule 34 sites. Some of the big standouts of those being: Sexy outfits, flirty mid-fight banter, inter-team romance, and of course, perilous capture at the hands of your enemies! Essentially, if you've ever seen those porn parody comics that people make, something like that, but with a little more substance and all the non-porn parts too! I'm imagining a world very much like DC comics or Marvel Comics, except everyone seems to have their sex drive amped up a little more than normal. Even though I'm interested in engaging with kinks that are typically darker or more extreme, I would still love to keep the tone very optimistic and traditional comic-like, rather than something dark/cynical like The Boys.

In terms of what the actual game concept is about, the game will be based around your individual characters and their journey as a superhero team. A big part of Masks is telling a story about a young team of teenagers who are new to being superheroes and coming together as a team, and learning to deal with the pressures of being a young new hero. For this game I'm pushing the age ranges up a little bit to player characters being anywhere from 16 to 19 years old due to the sexual content. Note that if you do intend to make a character who is older, you must still engage with the core premise of being a new hero, finding your place, and dealing with growing up. Your 19 year old isn't an established hero living on their own, but someone new to the scene, still living at home, and probably going to college, etc...

Logistically the game will take place on here via forum threads. Although, Discord will be required in order to facilitate out of character communication easier and handle the various other RPG bookkeeping. In my group games, I've found things work better when people aren't afraid to talk about the story out of character and all contribute to the narrative, rather than just being along for the ride.

Hopefully this thread gets across the main idea of what I'm looking for. It's not anything that's re-inventing the wheel, so I'm sure if you've been role-playing for a while, you've come across many similar request threads. If you have any questions, please let me know below. If you're interested in joining, please let me know any thoughts you had and what you're excited for below, and I'll shoot you a message with an invite to the Discord server.

Consider me intrigued. I got the rulebook but haven't played (although I have with other games using the system). And I've been itching for supers action that's both four-color and off-color.

Callie Del Noire

I’d like to try and play a tg character.  Never Played Masks

Are you allowing non-core playbooks? I ask specifically because I was thinking about the Newborn from the Halcyon City Chronicles supplement. It's for playing a created entity - two of the examples they give are Vision and Superboy.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Playbooks from the official expansions are a-okay!

I've gone ahead and sent you a DM with an invite to the server Callie and Foxy.

Cold Heritage

Cool. I'm not married to the idea and might change my mind, but I'm interested in giving this a go.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Oh!  This sounds exciting.  I've also done Masks at 18-2# and enjoyed that.  Different sorts of newness.  It's hard to suggest specifics without bouncing interpretations around some, but I do gravitate toward high-Danger playbooks.

Autocad

Very interested, do we need to to own the rule book to play?

I am always interested in sexy RP with Superheroines! ;)   Consider me interested.  :)  Zero experience with Masks.

In writing, a flaw is not the interesting part of a character.  What is interesting is how a person overcomes a flaw.  I want to read how a person overcomes a flaw, not how the flaw overcomes the person.

PbtA is one of those systems I've never gotten to try out despite hearing its praises, so I'm interested with an experienced veteran as GM.

Hexed

powered by the apocalypse superhero style huh... out of curiosity do you know how many books have playbooks in them?

it seems one of the smaller collections although i may just be missing some

Writersblockade

I've always been interested in Masks, but never had a chance to play... well, once lol, and that wasn't much. Anyway, I'd want to support this, so put me down as interested.

I'm thinking a power armor type or something Hulk-esque. Whichever can be the most fun!

Here’s my O/Os!

I don't know who this Muse person is, but if it explains away the voices in my head, then I'm all for it!

TheGlyphstone

After looking over a summary of the playbooks, I still don't know how the mechanics work but I like the thematics of a Transformed.

Protoplasm - An ameoba-like blob of boneless malleable flesh, with immense regenerative powers but can only approximate a crude humanoid shape.

Foxy DeVille

I'm leaning toward a Legacy, as that lines up great with an existing character I have but haven't really gotten to roleplay who is descended from Greek gods. And she's definitely sexed up.  >:)

I think I remember that character. I don't recall perfectly, but my memory tells me she was cool.

My first tabletop game was a superhero game and this takes me back: I'd like to give an idea for a delinquent archetype girl I've in mind a spin, if you'll have me.

Cute Bunny

I have awoken to a flurry of replies it seems. Unfortunately, since it is a system game, I won't be able to run a game involving everybody who's expressed interest so far. I've gone ahead and looked through everyone's O/O's, and I've sent out invites to those who I believe will mesh the best with the group. If you don't receive a message from me, then I was unfortunately not able to find any space for you, but I thank you for your interest in my game! I've also gone ahead and marked the thread closed for recruitment now.

All three of the official supplemental books come with extra playbooks. (Halcyon City Herald Collection, Unbound, and Secrets of A.E.G.I.S).
