Well that sounds like your problem, not telling her you started a game in her honor...

TheGlyphstone

Okay, I managed to find a concept that amuses me. Meet Southpaw, Troll physical adept and former MLB pitcher. He really likes to put his balls in your face.

Reading up on SR5e, with which I had no familiarity before, but two weeks should be enough time. I like the narrative-driven RP with all mechanics on GM side idea, curious how it'll work out.

First impulse is to make an AdMech tech priest sort of character, except more pleasant (to the eye and as a company) - you know this sweet spot for AdMech acolytes when they're already tech-savvy and have built-in gimmicks, but still can be pretty and have a personality? That is to say, a broadly studied engineer who prefers to solve problems by thowing sufficient amounts of technology at it.

Currently trying to find specifics on how noise affects deckers when there's a wireless connection somewhere between the jack-in point and the target. Mainly to see how much investment is necessary to use a drone as a retransmitter compared to plugging in with a physical cable.

Edit. Damn, availability 10 precludes buying a simrig. That's unfortunate.

The limit is 12, unless you’re building at a lower level

OP says Availability Limit 10, so yeah, we have slightly lower than normal.

There is a quality that can let you get higher availibty gear. One item per quality.

I didn't expect it to hurt overmuch, but apparently a lot of good stuff sits exactly at 12, probably by design. Like alphaware control rig or the aforementioned simrig and who knows what else.

Which one is that?

Callie Del Noire

Restricted Access I think.

I’ll check when I get home

TheGlyphstone

Restricted Gear, yes. One item up to Availability 20, for 10 Karma.

Talk about overkill XD Don't suppose there's a lower tier version for less extreme purchases?

Edit. So it looks like the rules don't make distinction between noise from decker to jack-in point and from jack-in point to target, because the Matrix is half-wireless throughout anyway. Which is to say, it seems it's perfectly fine to jack in via a wireless connection so long as one doesn't mind physical obstacle penalties and chances of IRL jamming happening mid-dive. Need to look into secure comms.

Also, wow, the closest thing I could find to additional manipulators cyberware is 24F fully articulated weapon mount from 4e, by way of 5e Arsenal reference.

To keep this from stretching too long, I want character sheets by Monday 11 January. That gives everyone a week and if you can't get to it by then, then I know you can't make it to the real game.

Look into Retrans units for drones if you are worried about Noise. A string of flyspies with retrans boosters can help a lot.

GloomCookie

A reminder to anyone looking to play, you have until EOD tomorrow (Monday, 11 January) to get me a character sheet.

This game is now closed. I haven't received enough character sheets and so I am going to assume there isn't enough interest to proceed. If enough character sheets reach me by the end of the week we can see, but for now this game is now closed.
