Spell gone wrong

plot
A young mage or apprentice is trying a spell that instead of getting the desired results ends up bringing a cat girl from another world into his world.  The mage dose not know what they did or how to get her back. The mage would be trying to get her back to where she belongs, while the cat girl is trying to get use to this bizarre new place she has been sent to.  I'm thinking for the sake of the story the mage can cast some sort of spell on her where they can understand each other and speak the same language.

Ideas that might happen
1) the girl gets captured and others try to experiment or sell her and the mage has to rescue her from that situation.
2) When he tries the spell to send her back home the spell pulls him to and now everything's in reverse where he is seeing her world as a strange new place and she has to help him survive.
