Hello fellow Elliquiyans. It's me, Cold Heritage. Welcome.

What I'm proposing is a game of Dungeons & Dragons 5e, set in the Sword Coast area of the Forgotten Realms setting. Big caveat: I'm pretty new to D&D 5e. I'm also not 100% on Forgotten Realms lore - I've played a lot of the Baldur's Gate video games and read a lot of tie-in novels. I'm not going to get things 100% right 100% of the time. So if you're patient with me and explain to me what I've done wrong in private with the understanding that me doing something wrong isn't me trying to be malicious, it'll go a long way. This's more important with the rules than with the lore of the Forgotten Realms.

The game would be placed in the Extreme section, with light-to-medium smut. Smut's not the focus, but it's fun and I want it to happen, though I don't want things to get Book of Erotic Fantasy tier focused on it. I don't plan to subject to characters to non-con if they lose or as a 'Bad End' kind of thing.

The characters will be level 3. They start with maximum possible hit points. You may generate ability scores by rolling or using an array of 16, 16, 14, 12, 10, 10, whichever ends up being more advantageous. Maximum starting gold per class, but characters may only purchase common magic items. Unearthed Arcana stuff is on the table with the caveat that I reserve the right to veto it if I don't feel comfortable with it. Ask me first, link me to it, and respect my decision, please. I'm also pretty amenable to the notion of reskinning material meant for another setting, but again, case by case.

To add to these guidelines, I don't want centaurs or any of the really animalistic races like Tabaxi or Loxodon.

I won't require any Alignments, but I will say don't make someone who's super inflexible - so a Lawful Stupid Paladin who can only say 'DEUS VULT' or a Chaotic Stupid Rogue who steals from the party are bad types of characters. A rough guideline is that the PCs don't have to be friends, but they do have to basically be allies. This won't be their first adventure together, and we can work out how people know each other and how they relate to each other once we get settled. Let's say their first adventure was clearing out some giant rats in the sewers beneath an inn in Baldur's Gate. That's the party's first adventure together, and they've since had a few (2 or 3) relatively stock adventures together since (e.g. a standard dungeon crawl, clearing out a bandit hideout, etc.).

When the game starts, the party is back in Baldur's Gate at that same inn, ready to embark on a new adventure after cooling their heels for a bit, recovered from their last adventure.

Don't make your character a Harper. I don't like the organization and plan to shit on them a lot (unless it really bothers anyone, then I won't).

I can't promise Elminster won't show up, as a joke. Because I like to indulge myself.

As far as posting goes, I'd like folks to be able to commit to once a week. I know that IRL comes first and all. I don't want novel length posts out of folks, especially in combat. In combat posts, brevity, succinctness, and clarity are king. I'll also expect you to keep track of your own stuff in combat, like hit points, buffs, and what-not.

Onto submissions! I just want to keep it simple here. Character name, race, class, and one or two paragraphs about them. Don't get your heart set on anything at this point, and no 'dibs' on a class/race/whatever. Be prepared to live with more than one representation of the same class.

I think I covered what I need to, but if I missed something, please feel free to ask. I'm sure there'll be other questions, so please feel free to ask those too!

How about K'tanya, Daughter of Caspar. 

K'tanya is actually the half-elf stepdaughter of Caspar.  She grew up as a street urchin stealing for a fagin in a city bordering Cormyr.  When the Purple Dragons were sent into to pacify the city, a War Wizard named Caspar subdued the child-thieves with a Web spell.  He was impressed by this little elfkin (half elf) with red hair and wide purple eyes who stayed so calm the whole time, waiting to find the right moment to escape.  He talked to the girl and eventually adopted her, raising her alongside his own son. 

K'tanya is now spending some time as an adventurer--to learn, grow, have some fun, and help people out.  Like many wizards her main motivation is knowldge and the power that comes with it.  She's a kind hearted girl who can be ruthless when she sees suffering, but also remembers what it's like to have to steal just to eat. 

K'tanya is a Half Elf Wizard (Bladesinger) with the Urchin background.  Very inteligent and very graceful, but not particularly strong or tough.  She's a fencer and a spellcaster.  :)

As for races some don't like small size cast, some don't like the more inhuman or animalistic ones. Just want to lock restrictions down while idea hunting.

With a once-per-week postrate preference, I'd be interested in bringing in a half-elf Divine Soul Sorcerer named Kylara Leshan- I'll combine some healing and some blasting!



Kylara was hardly the first, or most famous, god-blooded to walk Faerun - and she was so aware of it, that she was drawn to the realm of a true icon.  The legendary Bhaalspawn of Baldur's Gate had gone down in infamy for his defeat - and, in a way, consumption - of the other Bhaalspawn who had been active up and down the Sword Coast during the Time of Troubles, and she felt ... drawn to the place.  A place where coin changed hands freely, sometimes at the point of a knife, and desire was tempered only by one's ability to grasp at it - from Baldur's Gate to Amn to Tethyr, the War of the Bhaalspawn had been as passionate as it was legendary.

Kylara was a creature of passions herself, infused with the power of a deity - or at least, a former deity.  She was a daughter of Bast-who-was-once-Sharess - the lesser goddess of lust, pleasure, vengeance for nursed grudges, and cats who had become an Exarch since losing so many of her followers during the Second Sundering.  Appropriate to her place, Kylara had been raised something of a misfit; a half-elf struggles to find a place at the best of times, and when bound to the independent and haughty nature of a cat, she had ever struggled to find a place to settle - but once she left her mentor's side, she had never struggled to find doors open to her, just as any stray.

Kylara presents as a half-Sun Elf, bronze-skinned and golden-haired, sleek and fit - though her efficacy in traditional combat is limited.  The light travelling clothes she wears are reasonably sturdy, but too abbreviated to serve as any real protection.  It is the divine magic flowing through her veins - often coupled with the willing assistance of others - which keeps her safe ... along with her quick wit, quick tongue, and quick feet.  She is prone to aloof affection and nursing fierce grudges - whether this is due to the influence of her deity or her troubled upbringing is impossible to say.

I kind of don't like adding 'tech' to D&D but Gond, clockwork, guns, the Machine of Lum the Mad, and the Mighty Servant of Leuk-o are part of the Forgotten Realms. Tech's already there. Artificer's ok.

Still, Waterdeep never lacked for such mischiefs and the girl quickly found her way into it.

Growing up a Verdan is a strange thing. As a people they're an off-shoot of Goblin born from some eldritch mutating force. They've only recently come in to being and as such, they have very little stories of their own, and Sarkat felt like there was something missing, only hearing of the great deeds of Men and Elves and Dwarves along the Sword Coast. This strange feeling turned to motivation and an urge to record the stories of heroic verdan people, so that they can start recording their own history. Trouble being, finding a Verdan adventurer or hero was hard enough. Sarkat took another step further, and tried to break in to that career and lifestyle. Her first foray in to heroics nearly ended in disaster, saved only by a desperate plea being heard by the eldritch forces that were inexorably tied to her races destiny.

The Fathomless power saved her from the marauding bandit gang, torn apart by spectral tentacles of some disembodied sea creature. Saved, and now further tied to this Entities power. The power was mighty and saw her career kick off properly from this point, but now, she was at the beck and call of some unknowable Thing. Thus far, it hasn't hindered her adventuring career or hobby as a story-telling entertainer, but whose to say what is in the mind of such things?

Alendia

Alendia has lived her whole life in Amphail temple dedicated to Sune, goddess of the Sun and Beauty. She was orphaned to the temple, when she was newly born, and as she knew this, she never needed to know her parents, while she were raised by the priestesses.

Years grew, and as she started to join the elder priestesses on their quests outside the temple, she learned of the world at large. Sune's teachings were her core beliefs and everything she lived for, until one fatefull night.

The Eldest sister, Priestess Rhondi was questiing to find an lost artifact, Alendia was choosen to be her handmaiden. Their group was ten strong and rest were paid adventurers and mercenaries.

As they found their target, an old abandoned mountain stonghold, at the foothills of Spine of the World. As their made their last camp, before venturing forth, they were ambushed by something.
As the ambush was struck, their camp was over whelmed by rotting corpses and their master. Everyone was layign wounded or dead in few minutes, and in her semicoherent state, Alendia managed to see the master of the horde, strangling Rhondi, and as the life escaped the elder sister, her body raised from the dead, stripping naked and offering itself to its new master. The necromancer made sure, the spirit of Rhondi was still trapped into it, as he ravaged her corpse.

Fear gripped Alendia, as she passed out from terror. When she regained counsiousness, she still laid in her own blood, in middle of all the mutilated friends, only missing the corpse of Elder Sister Rhondi. Alenadi dont remember much of the escape, but at some point, she had made contact with travelling merchant and the merchant gave her passage to Triboar, where she found shrine and rested up.

She had not found courage to return to Amphail yet, as she dont know what to say to them, instead she seeks to hone her skills, and thank Sune, for her second change, this time, she will be ready.

Alendia has living as an travelling knight, helping those in need, mentally and physically.

If your character is a Cleric of Sune, it looks like we have a natural link - I have a half-elf Divine Soul Sorcerer with a tie to Sharess/Bast, an Exarch under Sune.  Buddies?  Heck, as a half-elf, Kylara might have elder-sister raised you, even at the same apparent age now.  Did Kylara finagle herself into your family at some point?

It's cool that you're interested in joining and trying out the system!  Don't sweat the experience with the system, lots of us have been around the block on these systems, so I'm sure folks would be happy to help.

Like me!  There are generally four big combat roles in any given party - Tanky person, damage dealer, healer and battlefield controller - and each class does one or two of those things in different ways.  There are people who have already volunteered for each of these roles: there are a couple of Paladin and Barbarian tank-types, a couple of rogue and caster/blasters, Miroque and I are looking at bringing healing, and several of those options also add battlefield control options.  Good news, this means you can do pretty much whatever you want ... the bad news is, you can do pretty much whatever you want, and I'm not sure I can give you any advice based on "party need."

This page gives a simple rundown of each of the basic races, the classes and a single subclass for each class.  This can give you an idea of the flavour and theme of each class, in case you need it, as well as some of the mechanics.

This page links to a series of "optimization guides", in case you are concerned about building a "bad" character.  These aren't guides you need to follow by any means, just tools so you can have some idea how to build different characters, classes or races in a way that will be effective.  This page on the same site gives some amount of tutorial on how to play - I haven't read it in detail, so I'm not sure how great it is, but if you find it helpful ... then awesome!

There are lots of youtube videos and similar as well, and if you have any questions or want to brainstorm ideas, feel free to discuss here or DM me.

human sister is fine, but so is a girl growing up in Quarevar in Cormyr.  Maybe Caspar hsa a daugther instead of/as well as a son, or maybe my best friend in town.

@Muse : I wrote something up..and made Alendia an orphan "gift" to the temple.. and one great changing element that made her an adventurer instead...  Maybe it was K'tanya who seeked Alendia out'? as Half-elfs tend to wallow in-the-between-state..
And yeah.. Dice roller luv me this time.. bound to happen at somepoint right? (normally we'r nemesis)


@Annamarth: I see you too. Maybe there was more that one surviving member on the original divine quest ? (where Alendia got her starting Exp from)

Sune has always been seen as goddess of fiery temper. And her priests and priestesess wield fire.. (sure, Sune is not per-se Goddess of Sun, except in the heretical way.... ) and her avatar is literally flaming woman..  I dont think thats too much of an strech to make that comparison...
