Honestly, I wouldn't read one single source of news and conclude that it's true anymore. It sucks, but the more you cross-check, the closer to the truth you are likely to get. Of course you can get your news just from one source alone, but never think you are getting the whole truth.

The fact that 'reputable' news sites are now starting to look like Breitbart and whatever left-leaning equivalent there is, is kinda disgusting. But that's just me whining.

What would the most biased, out-there crazy left-wing Breitbart equivalent be, anyways? I generally avoid fringe news in general, trusting stuff from Associated Press or Reuters mostly. My first thought was Natural News, but that sort of health-crazy is orthagonal to the political spectrum rather than directly paralleling it.

You know, I was gunna say 'I dunno', but then you mentioned Natural News. That site is legit nuts. Hell it might even be worse then Breitbart. At least a lot of Breitbart's content is political opinions, almost all of Natural News from what I've seen is literally just pseudoscience.

But yea, if you are talking strictly political, I dunno... In terms of large news groups, I tend to think left leaning sites are more biased then right leaning ones on average, but the large right leaning sites that are out there and biased are REAL crazy.

I think I'd move all of the major news stations (CNN, MSNBC, and Fox) closer to the center, with a caveat for that last one. Fox is basically two different networks: the journalistic side, and the opinion side. The opinion side is very right-wing, but the journalistic side (its most prominent figure being Shephard Smith) is quite centrist, if still with a conservative spin.

The chart's source does admit that some of the positions are based more on averages. The Enquirer for example has been dead center in previous versions of the chart because their batshittery used to average out.

I don't have any specific articles, but every time that I've seen a link to them, the title has been click-bait and the article has been at least 90% sensationalism.  And I'm fairly 'left' on the American political spectrum.

Literally the title of the first article I saw: Trump White House So Mad Everybody Thinks Matthew Whitaker Is Dumb Unqualified Meathead Dickbrain." Regardless of what you feel about Matthew 'Gamers rise up!" Whitaker, this is some high IQ journalism right there.

... Honestly, every article on Wonkette reads like someone is VERY bitter with life. Even if it's about the democrats taking the house, the writers still sound bitter. They must really be fun at parties.

Yea, Thinkprogress is literally a propaganda arm for the Center for American Progress Action Fund, and just recently it got temporarily banned for straight up spreading fake news of Facebook.

Might as well post Breitbart while we are at it.

This is quite a bit misleading. One source does not mean we need to believe it sure. But they did include a video of the event. And it links to the police report.

Also Thinkprogress was banned from Facebook by one of Facebook's groups that fact check, a conservative one, that did so because of the title being wrong.

You can say they have bias sure but they weren't exactly fairly banned from a site that does still have a lot of fake and misleading news on it, they were given a lower rating because of that article by a group that don't have a great record of fact checking themselves. Which I'm not saying they were censored the title of the article was wrong. Just that it's not quite that simple.

To others though yeah I'd consider a lot of our major news publications here in the US to be very centrist. I usually try to post more of the centrist news articles here or even from slightly right or left leaning ones since people tend to take those as having less of an axe to grind regardless of whether a far left site is accurate or not.

I'd definitely trust the article more if they had backed up their source like you suggest. As-is, it's more of an eyewitness opinion article.

Yeah. Though I'd say the video is the more important part. Now if Tucker can provide video that contradict this that will be another story.

Keep in mind everyone it is an ongoing investigation so our understanding of it can change with time as we learn more. Even before I was taking it as not exactly true but possible and discussing it as we understood it to have happened according to the news previous to this video and witness account.

Also it can be a bit hard to compare left wing media to right wing media, when one is far more mainstream and in higher quantity. Again, a lot of news sites supported by Democrats are not left but are typically centrist. And usually a thing is the far left aren't as mainstream as the far right and the far left typically isn't huge on capitalist ventures because they actively don't like capitalism whether they are factual or not.

I was a bit shocked by this, although nothing should surprise me any more. Even if he has no respect for foreigners, I   wonder how this behaviour looks to the relatives of Americans who were killed in the First World War.
