"Congratulations! You have been accepted for the position of Librarian at The Library!

Please be at the below address at 9:00 AM sharp for your Orientation and work schedule. I expect to see you there.

Signed,
Wesley Keyes."

At the bottom of the letter there is an address and directions. Inside the envelope there are some airline tickets, or taxi fare for the exact amount to get there, whatever you need to arrive at The Library.

I am a big fan of Warehouse 13, and this is a chance for me to write an RP with the same premise in mind. This is a variant of that.

Warehouse 13 was about a secret government agency that hunted "Artifacts" These items had special powers related to their owners. So something like Walt Disneys paintbrush would animate real objects, or Beatrix Potters Tea set would unlock your creative potential, but could also cause some of your darker side to come out.

The Library is a take on that, where instead of historical artifacts, it's supernatural creatures, characters from stories, and certain MacGuffins too.

Wesley is the Giles (Buffy) kind of character. The knowledgeable Caretaker/keeper who knows what to look for and sends the Librarians on their missions, taking care of the library while they are gone.

I am currently looking for 4 people to be Librarians. You can be Ex-military, FBI, off the grid, college graduate, whatever. The Library itself is not government run, so try not to feel too restricted with what your character was or is. I'm looking for varied personalities for a good mix of characters. 1 character per person. I may be willing to allow one or two non-librarians. Someone who somehow managed to avoid the magical seal of the library that keeps other people out. Relationships between characters are optional.

I'm sorry I'm not too good at making fancy new request threads, but I hope you will be willing to join this RP.

If you have questions, or want to submit a character, please do so below.

Feel free to edit the look of the character application as you desire.

((oooh I love Warehouse 13! I'll get in on this! Let me know if I need to revise at all. I feel having a person with supernatural powers would be cool. As for the spirit, it isn't a second character. It's something that you control. Only thing is, the spirit is bound to the character's body until the favor has been collected. ))

Name: Samuel Edmund Odell Lester Goodwin III

Gender: Male

Age: 32

appearance: He has short black hair, with blue eyes. He has a stubble for a beard. He has a large tattoo, that covers a large part of his back.

Personality: He is pessimistic, and sarcastic. He will assume the worst, then make a joke about it. Then try to think of a way to try to keep the worst from happening.

Bio: At the age of 16, Sam had gotten into a bad crowed. Now you may think, drugs, alcohol, mild vandalism. No, he got involved with a cult. A small group of people that believed in the supernatural, and wanted to prove it to the world. They would spend hours researching how to summon different spirits, and even demos, but always to no avail. Until, one fateful night. They had found an old summoning for a genie type spirit, it said it would grant one wish, in exchange for a favor. Turns out the summoning actually worked. Sam decided that he wanted the wish, and blurted out that he wished he had magical abilities, before the spirit could even say anything. Everything else after that is a blur.

When he came to, the other cult members were dead. Sam didn't have an memory of what happened, and while he was pretty sure that he killed them, he still blamed the spirit. He discovered he had a large tattoo on his back the next day. Shortly after, he discovered that it's actually a rune, and the spirit resides in said rune, waiting to collect the debt. Over the next 26 year, Sam used his new found powers to help any of those in need. While his powers are incredible, they are nowhere near a true spirit or demon. But if used smart, he can, and has subdued creatures of the supernatural.

PervCelebre

Name: Phil Deckland
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Face Claim(s): Chris Pine
Background and Personality: Phil is a Librarian in the true sense of the word: for all intents, a bookworm. Growing up in a small town, his knowledge and nose constantly in a book was never appreciated. When he got his invitation to the library, he was applying for teaching jobs in big cities, hoping to get out of his small town, with its roots and baggage, and to a place with more than one library.

RPGer

Name: Ian Caffrey
Age: 22
Gender: M
Appearance: Ian is blonde haired with green eyes, and is clean shaven.  He walks with confidence and has a runner's physique.

Background and Personality:  Ian spent much of his childhood and teen years learning about computers.  He would routinely pirate games, movies, and music growing up in the suburbs of Austin, Texas.  Over his teen and college years he got involved pretty heavily in hacking culture, and flunked out of college as a result.  In spite of this he is very intelligent and well-educated regarding computers and knows where and how to find information on the web.  He has also learned freerunning/Parkour, and Kali to keep in shape.

Towards the end of his time in college, his parents died in an auto accident, and the bank foreclosed on his parents' house.  The only thing he has of any value at present is an old ring his father wore.

In spite of the tragic loss of his family and home, he is always ready with a joke or sarcastic remark, and tries to remain optimistic as much as possible.

Option (If GM will allow): The ring Ian inherited has a magical incantation on it allowing Ian to teleport short distances through shadows, and see in total darkness.  This could be how he bypassed the seal, in theory.

Possible Plot Hooks for Ian: The "accident" was actually a hit carried out by either enemies of Ian (enemies he doesn't actually know he has), or were targeting his parent(s) specifically (again, with Ian being totally oblivious).

Ian may actually have a price on his head, either because he ran afoul of some criminal organization(s), or maybe Interpol or some other law enforcement agency wants to catch him for the crimes he has committed.  Additionally, he may have acquired some information (probably accidentally) that revealed the location of some ancient artifact(s).

Sorry for the long delay, I had been moving house, so I didn't have internet for a while.

What Powers exactly?

Sounds good. I'll add Phil to the list.

So is Ian a Librarian, or a guest?
