Appearance: Somewhat tall, if he's not slouching he's roughly six-foot and weighs about 170.  He's not quite as large as he was when he was still a roughneck in the field, but the boom times, lots of pay, and poor choice of friends resulted in a few tribal tattoos on his bicep and shoulder.

Occupation: Oil Drilling Engineer (formerly roughneck)

Special Skills: Certified Petroleum Engineer. Eagle Scout.  Trained in first aid, sexual harassment and workplace/oilfield safety, as mandated by current employer.

Biography & History: Born and raised in Midland, Texas, Michael did what everyone in that town wanted to - play football.  Luckily for him, his lack of talent at football - other than being tall and able to hit hard - was paired with a decent intellect and he managed to get himself into Texas Tech.  There he first studied something that really ended up being girls and flunked out.  Luckily it was in the midst of the oil boom, so getting a job in the oil fields was easy.  Smart enough to realize it wouldn't last, he stashed as much as he could for when it did, but also had the presense of mind to talk to his supervisors and their supervisors.  Along the way he befriended who turned out to be the owner of the drilling company and, seeing something in Mike, helped him get back into school (this time the OU, much to the dismay of his friends and family) and pushed him to study petroleum engineering.  When it was time to intern, he returned to those same fields and seeing the difference in the before and after, he returned and worked even harder, graduating with honors.  From there he did the normal work-life shuffle, working to get the experience and certifications, all the while trying to balance his life, dating but failing to find a lasting relationship, but keeping in touch with old school buddies.  Recently one of his old roommates, Jeon Ho-Pyong, was getting married in his native South Korea, which brought Mike onto Flight 9273.

Appearance: At 5'11" tall in her bare feet, Rory's body is lean and trim bearing a musculature that isn't just for show. Her expression tends to be serious most of the time but her smile and laughter come fairly quick and easy in her less guarded moments. She's definitely a gwn ass tomboy.

Biography & History: Born in sunny Southern California to a Retired Naval Officer turned Power Attorney and his partner and wife, there was never any doubt where Rory would end up--or rather there was no doubt as to where she should have ended up. Her childhood was, in most ways, an ideal one with few real upheavals. Sure, her parents were workaholics who tended to leave her home with her nanny most of the time and there might have been a few occasions when disgruntled citizens threatened their home or even her specifically calling for increased security that could be intrusive and restricting, but these were things that Rory simply adapted to, keeping any and all complaints to herself since her words tended to fall on deaf ears anyway. There were certainly other children who had it much worse and if nothing else her home was warm, well stocked, and well secured. So what if the reality was that anything she wanted done she would have to roll up her sleeves and make happen herself. It was an attitude that would carry her through the rest of her life. That and one rather simple philosophy: just keep moving.

To that end school was an escape for Rory and she threw herself into it full tilt. She maintained the highest grades, joined clubs, ran events, volunteered, ran track, and played soccer. Nothing was allowed to slow her down or hold her back. She was like a machine and it was something that caught a number of people's eyes rather early. It was a big surprise then, after all that, when she didn't go from Valedictorian of her high school class straight to Annapolis, Maryland to be sworn in to the US Naval Academy. A major one really. One that nearly saw her disowned by her parents. In fact, to this day she and her father still do not speak.

Still, whatever her parents had been envisioning for her, Rory was determined to make her own way. Of course, going to a big University rather than the Naval Academy showed her a different side of things. She didn't exactly go wild but well, lets just say she enjoyed her four years immensely. Despite graduating with honors there was no longer anything that she could do right in her parents' eyes. Short of marching herself down to a recruiter's office and enlisting there was just no way to see eye to eye. So she ignored them and stayed away, though even without following the expected plans for her, Rory was in some ways still very much her father's daughter. He might not have chosen to acknowledge it but none of her friends were surprised when she chose to become a firefighter, or maybe only slightly--some had bet that she'd become a cop or some sort of Fed. Regardless, she made her choice and was exceedingly happy with it. She might not be rolling in it or off fighting gritty wars and pirates but she was doing her civic duty and enjoying her life.

Going out of the country hadn't really been in the cards for Rory, at least not at this point in her life, but after a trip to the Price is Right with a number of her fire buddies where she managed to snag herself a free vacation, well, not even the fellas would have let her miss going on that one.

Since there has been a good amount of interest so far, I wanted to expand on the gameplay a little bit.

There will be three open days, IC (In-Character) to post and have fun, before, after some time, one or more days of that open three days will be closed, and the next section of days will be open. Should scenes still need to be completed after a new set of days has begun, there will be a thread available to finish such.

Each block of days will begin with a GM event. Of course the first event will be large, as it will involve the plane crash and the survivors coming ashore on the island. Several items that they can make use of will also be washing ashore at the same time, including small bits of wreckage, several suitcases, and other loose items from the plane. The characters will need to work out amongst themselves what they are going to do with the items, and how they are going to share them. Some items may be entirely useless.

After a GM event, but within the three day block of time, players can write to their own pace during any of those days. For example, two characters may be dealing with constructing a shelter late into the night, while two other characters have already slept and woken up to the next day. Just make sure that you check the post tags for the time and location of other characters to ensure they match up with yours.

After some time the three day block of time will close, and a new GM event will happen. This can range from more items washing ashore to a storm raging across the island. If more items come ashore or are spotted just offshore, the GM will pick a random player to be the one to discover said item, so that the same character isn't discovering everything all the time. The GM will always PM the chosen person beforehand, to make sure they are okay with being the one to find something.

Small items, such a single articles of clothing or tiny pieces of wreckage are okay for anyone to discover at any time.

As a forewarning, some of the discoveries may be rather grisly in nature, but these sorts of events will be limited.

While the GM encourages both positive and negative relationships to form between characters - as not everyone can get along - relationships between players need to remain civil. Disagreements need to be worked out in private first, and if they cannot, need to be brought to the GM. Hashing out serious issues in OCC or IC will not be tolerated.

Kathleen Lockheart

Name: Katie, Kate

Age: 28

Appearance: Petite in stature, standing at roughly 5' tall.  Katie is busty and always has been - and thanks to an increased presence at the gym, she's been able to shape her booty nicely, as well.  She's got piercing blue eyes and brown hair with grown-out highlights.  The only tattoos Katie has are out of sight, due to the nature of her job. 

Sexual Preference: Bisexual.

Occupation: General surgeon.

Special Skills:  Board certified in general surgery.  Daughter of a hunter - knows her way around a gun and is a pretty damned good shot. 

Biography & History:  Katie was born the youngest of six children to her parents, Harry and Donna Lockheart.  She has five older brothers and a host of nieces and nephews.  Though Katie grew up as a Daddy's girl, her relationship with her father was only picture perfect on the outside.  Due to his drinking, he was often verbally and physically abusive to Katie and her mother.   

Though she has a strained relationship with her father, he did teach her quite a bit when she was a child.  Having five sons, he'd often take the boys on hunting trips and allow Katie to tag along with them.  She was able to pick up basic survival skills and learned her way around a gun quicker than any of her brothers - and ended up being the best shot out of the six of them.  When it came time for college, Katie's father pushed her to go into nursing because it was 'what women were supposed to do'.  Rather than abandon the medical field she'd always been interested in, she decided to pursue medical school - and when she couldn't decide between specialties, she opted for general surgery to allow her to dabble in a bit of everything.  Going into medicine also allowed her to better understand her father's medical issues - namely, his alcoholism.  She obtained her undergraduate degree at Boston University within two years by doubling up on courses and went on to attend medical school at the Yale University's School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. 

Her parents still live in Maine, but her brothers are scattered all throughout the United States.  Kate currently lives in Los Angeles and is a surgeon at UCLA Medical Center.  One of her brothers, Ryan (age 40), is currently living in Brisbane, Australia (owner of a petroleum engineering business) and he and his wife are expecting their first child within the next couple of weeks.  Because Ryan and Katie were the closest out of the six siblings, Katie felt it very important that she be there for the birth of his first child.

Biography & History: Amber grew up in Kansas.  Her father was a mechanic, and her mother a school teacher.  She was raised in a small town which revolved around agriculture, and she spent a good portion of her time growing up yearning to be anywhere else.  School was never a focus, despite her mother’s nagging demands, and she never had the mechanical aptitude of her father.  In fact, by the time she was a teen, she despised the smell and feel of motor oil.  She skated by in high school with Bs, as those were the lowest it seemed her mother would allow, and displayed more interested in social activities.

The one place she seemed to excel was in the kitchen.  Whether it was helping her mother prepare a holiday feast, or her father during a summer BBQ, Amber loved it.  Thankfully, it was something her high school guidance counselor discovered, and after a number of home economics classes, and a part-time job at a local pantry, Amber enrolled in culinary school.

As part of her graduation gift, her parents decided to take her to Sydney, Australia.  She and her parents boarded 9273 with the intent to have one last family vacation before Amber focused upon her career and began to pay her dues.  She was the only one to make it to the island.

Saif Auvry

Name:  Saif Auvry

Age: 31

Appearance: 6’3, dark Bistre eyes, knife wound scar in his right shoulder cap, and shrapnel scaring at left hip, thigh and ribs.

Occupation: Investigative photojournalist

Special Skills: Working in war zones and dangerous environments have created their own positive and negative skills including basic first aid and defensive combat maneuvers.  It has also made him rather reactive to loud sudden noises and appearing overly calm in dangerous situations.  He knows how to make a fire and won’t complain if he has to eat some nasty stuff once and a while. He has grown up on a coast his entire life, and enjoys swimming and snorkeling, and has been known to climb into peculiar places to get that perfect, condemning shot.

Biography & History: Saif was raised by his grandmother in Manatai, Puerto Rico after the sudden suicide of his mother when he was only 3.  He can recall vague memories of bringing his mother blankets and cigarettes while she lay in a comatose state upon the couch.

He grew in a loving, though largely lonely environment with his grandmother while she worked many hours to keep food on the table and in a semi leek-proof apartment.  When Saif was 12 (though claiming to be 14) he began working as a bus boy at a local resort where he found his first Cannon camera in the unclaimed Lost and Found items.  Taking it to pawn later, he soon found himself off on adventures, climbing trees, and buildings and laying down to shoot people walking over a bridge way.  While idly shooting a few pictures of guests he found that he could occasionally get a higher profit from some older gentlemen guests with their young escorts.  It didn’t take him long to figure out that blackmail could be highly profitable. 

During the next five years, Saif’s eye for detail and his unique ability to capture emotion in a snapshot was noticed, not only by his would-be marks but also by several marketing firms who visited the islands and saw his photographs.  He was hired, and soon was able to move his Grandmother and him to the states where he was hired at Tribune Media who helped to procure his journalism and photography degrees. 

His uncanny ability to locate a scandal, as well as his hard work ethic and dogged determination to root out condemning detail has slowly helped Saif rise in the ranks of photojournalism. Saif was on his way for a brief layover in Sydney where he was to take stock photo’s of the Barrier reef as well as a “garbage island” spotted close by, before flying to Myanmar to investigate a human trafficking ring.

Special Skills: First Aid, CPR, Marine Biology(she was a double major), Identify poisonous and non-poisonous berries & plants, and can swim pretty long distances.

Biography & History: Zuri had the picture perfect life, mostly. Her parents were together, never a sign of divorce. The young sable colored woman grew up in Oakland, California in the hills where the upper middle class and upper class lived. . Zuri was always the model student, but never arrogant. Blessed with a great education and support system, Zuri was able to pursue many things that she found interesting. After graduating high school as valedictorian, she went out to Berkley University studying both Marine Biology & Nursing.

After graduation, she went on to pursue Marine Biology as a hobby - helping out her local marine community. Simultaneously, Zuri worked as a Nurse at a Children's Hospital. Zuri is out-going, flirty, and very observant. She likes to learn for anything and anyone she can. She enjoys flirting with the right person, even if it doesn't lead to anything more than just friendship or a kiss on the cheek. Although sweet and kind - Zuri observes, very closely. She can usually see through someones bullshit and doesn't like to get too close too soon.

It's probably why she's never had a committed relationship.

I think this is going to be hard on everyone, as I am uncertain if he will know anyone on the flight or not, Jake (if approved) could have been traveling with friends and they where all killed. I think once we flush out how large the plane was we could have an idea of 'how many souls' were on board. It is also good to see that we do have people who have some skills dealing with injuries as I could see a lot of bumps, bruises and maybe ever a few broken bones.

I was thinking that it might make sense that our characters don't really start to deal with the mass death they all faced just days ago.  Sure, some would break right away, but I'm planning for my character to have his realization a few days after the crash, once it really sets in.

My father served and knew people who were killed in combat.  He also knew people who were killed on 9/11.  He's told me several times that they are two very, very different pains.

They are. I know that personally from experience. However, pain is still pain, and having someone to help you through it...helps. I was simply pointing out that someone who has experienced pain and loss can help others if that person isn't a wreck himself. And it's not like I planned to have him talk to them like they're soldiers.
