If the moon smiled, she would resemble you.
You leave the same impression
Of something beautiful, but annihilating.
~ Sylvia Plath, "The Rival"
Sylvia Plath is one of my favorite writers, and this excerpt from this particular poem (as well as the film about her life which I viewed in my literature class today) inspired me to think about a roleplay involving an affair. Though not involving the perspective of the woman who is immediately thought as scorned, the wife, but instead I would like to focus on the otherwoman. How her relationship with this taken man began, how it escalated, how he manages to keep her around. I've never really played a dependant character before and this could provide such an opportunity. However, if my partner decides that the husband is seeking the affair for other reasons, that is quite fine with me. It is an interesting concept to me, to shift the focus because in a sense this woman is wronged as well...I hope to hear from someone soon.
