Eagle Squad is part of the 403 Mechanized Infantry Unit of the New Republic Forces. When World War 3 came and changed the world's political structures, it took only a few years before a new, stronger government established control over the whole planet. It was the only way to bring back civilization, and many compromises had to be done in the name of security. Personal freedoms were abolished, and the law is final. The New Republic Forces, or NRF, act as the security forces around the world and keep order. They have a very large authority, and very few limits. Abuses are commonplace, and most people fear them. There are rebel groups, but most of them don't last long faced with the superior fire power of the NRF

A squad is a group of 4 to 8 soldiers assigned to a patrol route in a part of the world. Eagle Squad is assigned to Paris, France, the only remaining city other than London in western Europe, home to over 15 million people. Patrolling the streets on foot and with an APC vehicle, the squad has to keep the peace, in any way they see fit. Among the group however, there are varied thoughts as to the best way to do this. Some think repression is for their own good, others just think abusing the weak is fun, while some prefer to be nice with people whenever they can. This is the story of this group of soldiers.

For this RP I need between 4 and 8 people to play soldiers in Eagle Squad. The story will start as the Commander sends us on patrol at the start of the day. Then, we'll patrol the streets, meeting with people, doing house inspections, and so on. You can play your soldier in many different ways. Perhaps you like to impose your way on the population. You may pick a house at random, barge in and do unspeakable things to it's owner. Maybe you prefer the gentle way and try to help children lost in the streets. You can NPC any random person you come across. Since we'll be paroling together, there'll hopefully be a lot of interaction as well. Perhaps you want to have casual sex with a lovely team mate in the back of the APC in the middle of the afternoon, or saw another squad member kick a kid to the ground and want to tell him what you thought of that, altho any violence between NRF members will be punished harshly.

As for the setting itself, we're 15 years after the end of WW3, in 2027 (yes WW3 is in 2012) so the city is modern, but also in a state of decay, and semi-reconstruction. People are poor and generally live in very low conditions. The street is still lined up with broken buildings since the reconstruction effort is obviously focused on rich regions first, altho the streets are starting to look like streets again. I want the RP to be fairly open altho we'll try to stick together and not degenerate into a series of essays dealing with just NPCs. Speaking of NPCs, remember that anyone in the group can interact with NPCs. That means if you describe a kid playing on the sidewalk to which you go give a lollypop to, anyone else can walk over and kick him to the ground.

The only requirement is to post regularly, around once a day would be good. I will play Lieutenant Avira Jones, I need a Sergeant and soldiers.

Avira was born in the Czech Republic from a US Army family, on a military base there. She has always had a desire to join the Army. She was only 13 when the war happened though, and after the NRF were formed, she enlisted soon after. She runs Eagle Squad after having spent 3 years as a soldier and 3 more as a Sergeant.

Avira is a rather ruthless girl. She saw what gangs and random uncontrolled groups of people could do, and she genuinely believes that oppression brings peace, and has no problem being cruel, because to her it's just a necessary evil.


Sexual orientation and limits:
Avira is bi and has no limit at all. She usually dominates others because of her strong dominating personality, altho she'd be open to being dominated, just by curiosity. She also enjoys most toys and kinds of play.

Well typically there's always more female than male characters that sign up but play what gender you wish, just glad that there's some interest in this.

Well I got ideas for both genders. And I think AKtan would be out of her environment in post-apoc Paris (she's more appropriate in my Jungle Setting).

My male idea is an angry Filipino kid who joined the NRF army because he was tired of people picking on him and wanted respect and authority. The kind of person who makes a bad cop/soldier, but is more likely to be attracted to that kind of job.
He considers himself a "Nice guy" but he's got a short temper, and can be a real dick when crossed. Also has a tendency to abuse any authority given to him, and doesn't like it when people don't show him the respect he thinks he deserves.
Surprisingly, despite his uppity, aggresive nature, he has a soft spot of women and children, and can sometimes be a real bootlicker.

Short Bio: Alejandro was born in the Philippines, but his parents died in the war, and he was sent to live with his uncle in Paris. Alejandro's uncle was an alcoholic, and an anarchist punk who abused Alejandro and took part in the insurgency. When the NRF caught him, Alejandro was "Glad to see the pigs actually getting shit done" and signed up for the JROTC program as a way to rebel against his uncle's rebellion. Although he wanted to become an officer and worked really hard at it, the fact that he was related to a convicted terrorist, combined with his general attitude, made it really hard for him to make any progress.
Eventually he dropped out of ROTC and joined the regular army as a Private First Class.

Stances on the orders, in his own words: "This what a governments supposed to do right? Keep you safe, and kill people who get outa line. People who don't like it are just whiny punks who need ta get shot. I know which way things go round here. Some people still gota learn."

Sexuality: Considers himself straight and mildly homophobic (as all teenage boys are) Pretty normal in his sexual kinks. Probably attracted to authority, and probably has a crush on the Lieutenant.

Shameless plug: I used to serve in the Singapore Armed Forces, and this is my army, bitches! xD

Short bio: Despite the Caucasian-sounding name, Hans is Asian, and nobody knows what his specific ethnicity is outside of those who have seen his files - he hardly talks about himself anyway. He was one of the richer, upper-class college students in the States until the war broke out, and he managed to evade the inevitable draft until the reinforced bunker his family bought and hid in collapsed from one too many bombing runs.

With nothing else to lose, he figured he'd rather bring the fight to the enemy instead of avoiding what he came to see as his duty. He walked into the nearest NRF premises and that was that.

The NRF found out about his halted education and immediately threw him into the Signals Institute for a crash course before the Institute itself was bombed out - some wiseguy trainee tuned into an actual CAS net and called for bunker busters onto his own coords as a gag.

By pure dumb luck, he managed to survive the war and with nothing else for him in civilian life, he re-enlisted when the opportunity came.

Hans likes to travel light, and deploy light, because the Integrated Systems Pack (ISP) he has to lug around as the squad's Signals Operator already weighs him down by quite a bit. All members can speak to each other and to Command on their individual sets, but it's possible only because of the ISP that acts as a relay when they're on foot.

Stance versus the standing orders:

Hans views the gangs with a dispassionate academic's perspective. He pities them, but only because they have degenerated into a subhuman state. Recalling the ideals of his home country that used to cherish 'Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness', he thinks that people have a right to that, too, so long as they are deserving of it. Subhumans are not people.

Sexuality:

Just like how Hans does not talk about himself, neither does he about his sexual preferences. He is straight, and assertive when the situation calls for it: effective radiomen don't ask 'pretty please' when it comes to calling for CAS. On the flipside though, Hans has absolutely no limits when the opportunity shows itself. Bondage, hair-pulling, giving anal, mild strangulation... you name it.

Well, if you're still looking for another female character to balance out the cast a bit, I could try getting my feet wet, as it were. The second thought that came to mind (first thought was a medic, but it wasn't fleshing out very well in my head):

Short bio: Egyptian heritage, family moved to Israel two years after her birth. Though very young Jendayi played a role in guerilla movements during the war, eventually rooted out by NRF forces. The ragtag group had a 90% casualty rate. Jendayi, age ten, had four confirmed kills during the final confrontation; recruited into NRF on pain of execution for refusal. Trained to improve already existing skills: marksmanship, reconnaissance, demolition, sabotage. File flagged to put a ceiling on possible promotion due to cause of her enlistment despite efficacy. Put into the field mainly for specific operations in the Middle-East until recently; there isn't much about Hondo's private life that can be considered "on the record." The rumor mill had at one time circulated the story that she wasn't interested in having any less than two guys at a time in her bed but that stopped after the source of said rumor had his leg broken in three places during a training accident. Hondo was quietly pulled for downtime from operations and reassigned to patrol the European theatre shortly thereafter.

Stance versus the standing orders: Hondo is efficient. If sparing non-combatants adds greater risk to completing an objective she will not go out of her way to do so; hostages are not her concern unless she is given orders stating otherwise. However, she is not a sadist: cruelty for its own sake only encourages public resistance, making future missions that much more difficult to complete. Unnecessary violence toward civilians is not only a waste of time, it is an active detriment to reaching future goals and should not be tolerated.
Provides specific support with a long-range scoped rifle, small-scale explosives, familiarity with mechanical equipment, infiltration.

Sexual orientation and limits: Off the record, Hondo is fairly casual regard to sex. She doesn't actively pursue it. Unlikely to consider requests from other women or behavior she doesn't understand as having a sexual element (torture, waste, etc.). Approachable, but not necessarily "easy." Secret turn-on: ...what? Then it wouldn't be a secret! ;p

Sexual orientation and limits: Almost anything! As long as she gets to be on top! Suzzi is a Bisexual hedonist. Willing to try anything except "Shit that hurts, Animals, and Shit coming into or out of my ass." She also doesn't really like submitting, or even being on the bottom.

I've been following this thread for a while, as I'd love to get into an at least semi-serious military RP. I can handle it systemless with the PCs all as teamates, so that's okay, but I've got a couple of questions:

One thing that's a total deal breaker for me, is there going to be a moderator/GM to handle the action scenes at the very least, or a bunch of players doing a cooperative writing project?

Slightly less important, but I'd like to know, what level of content is there going to be? Will there at least be the possibility of being caught and raped by NPCs, or is this game sticking to just consensual scenes?

Oh I sure hope there'll be NC stuff. I'm all for that and will make the thread in the NC forum. As for fight scenes as I said there shouldn't be actual physical violence between teammates, that would be punished severely. Altho I'm not opposed to one soldier trying to get rough with another, bounding, sex wise or pushing around, that's all fine. As far as NPCs everything goes.

That really didn't answer my first question, lol.

What I want to know is: when we do get into a firefight, as a team, not against each other, who's running the OPFOR? Are you going to be acting as a GM, Elfguy, or are the players going to be writing the NPCs actions themselves? The former makes it more like a RPG (my choice), the latter becomes more like a collaborative writing project (not my cuppa).

Did that make more sense?

Yep, A Magazine is any device that holds ammunition inside a firearm. Specificity the ones most modern pistols, submachine guns, and Assault rifles use are called Detachable Box Magazines. This is what most people mean when they say "Clip"

Really a Clip is a strip of metal that holds ammunition in place. Some Magazines, particularly non-detachable ones on older guns, have clips inside of them. You load bullets into the clip, then load the clip into the gun's magazine.

L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifle! This is a really recent development by the Brits who got tired of getting potshots from the Taliban who engaged at 800m+ with machineguns and high-powered rifles, and they couldn't return fire at all because the L85 series and FN Minimi weapons couldn't hit well beyond 400-500m. So this was introduced to hit targets effectively at 900m and even has a Close-Combat red dot sight on top of the big scope. Huge win weapon here.

Mm, I sorta wanted her to be under-equipped for heavy combat. Balances out her skills as a specialist: lots of neat stuff she's great at doing, but still has to stick with the squad to do these out-in-the-open patrols. The Target seems like it'd fill a role like that. Figure, given that sort of work is her "usual" assignment, and given inventory isn't in huge supply given the post-apoc setting, she'd just have to make do with her gear in the new setting.

That and I don't know enough about guns to get the best fit for whatever I'll be doing anyway, so I figure I may as well shoot for a particular goal and wing it from there. ;p

Jason is easily the 'nerd' of Eagle Squad, and one of the best people you can have around when you need something fixed, patched, worked around, or blown up. He can find the optimum placement of demolition charges on any structure you can think of, or the fastest way to reinforce a bridge to support the weight of their NPC. But that same encyclopedic knowledge is often a detriment to him in social situations, leading him to overcompensate in an attempt to fit in, eventually finding his niche as the humor of the squad, often finding himself making sarcastic remarks and wisecracks even when its not the best idea to do so. He also uses humor to help him cope with stressful situations, something which is painfully obvious whenever they get into a firefight.


He's from what was Toronto, growing up working as a mechanic for his uncle, he joined the force at 18 and was quickly sidelined into the engineer corps. He graduated from Sapper School in record time, drifting from unit to unit until he landed with Eagle Squad six months ago, and grateful for having finally found a home with them.

(Sexual Orientation: Jason is mostly straight, often finding himself taking the submissive position in any relationship, but he's not a weakling in any sense of the word.)

A little more detail on what I imagine Hondo's carrying, though not with specificity anywhere near AK's, 'cause it seems like a not-bad idea to have a list for my own reference later (I forget things):

◕Kel-Tec RFB Target w/ modest custom work to fit 20-round magazines; 10x 20-round magazines
◕H&K USP Tactical w/ detached Bowers sound suppressor; 6x 15-round magazines
◕Folding ceramic combat knife
◕Throwing knife (at boot)
◕UNS "Monocle" installed inside broad goggles, right eye - can be moved away from eye when not in use; 1 replacement battery

Everything else would probably just be basics: water, the camo gear I described in first post (not looking up specs for that kind of stuff), maybe a compass or small GPS locator type dealie - whichever'd make more sense - etc. Pragmatic load out but with a marksman/infiltration/self-sufficiency flavor to it, I hope. Again, this isn't really my strong point. x.x;

Short bio: Dennis was born a happy go lucky New Yorker and raised in the army, by an American Marine family, looked after by very much every branch of the US military due to his extended family. His uncles and aunts were Navy. His cousins were airmen. Very much everyone was everywhere. When he reached the age to enter service, he was the practical joker of the squad he was in, a jovial man who only saw the good in everyone.

Everything changed when he entered  the WWIII conflict. His first assignment to Turkey to aid in British invasion went well. His second to China earned him several distinctive medals and a purple heart. It was his third in the Ukraine, on the defensive blockade of Pripyat, that changed everything. At the time he arrived there, he recieved news that his entire family were either KIA or MIA. The longer he stayed, cut off from contact with the rest of the world, the less he came to believe the war would end quickly. Three years he lived locked in constant, grueling conflict, surviving through a literal Hell until the events of the Bloody Thursday incident. He was the first to press the trigger of his mounted machine gun, cutting down the tide of violent molotov throwing rebels, escentially disowned, starving Russian civilians, until his weapon clicked dry.

The conflict on Bloody Thursday was considered justified, as the rebels were far from innocent by attacking and destroying key allied installations. The extremely lucky soldiers defending the Pripyat blockade were louded as heroes, but many of those who participated, like Dennis Giggs, had changed. Since his return to NRF Euro HQ, he was effectively desensitized by the trauma. By the end of the war, he had turned into a brutal, cold and morally void kind of man. Violence, anger and hatred became normal to him and he displays little other emotion. His previous squad called him 'Iceberg', as no one could get close to him, let alone try to strike up conversation.

He was assigned to Eagle as a replacement for a recently transfered soldier due to medical reasons. Higher ups thought it was best for a man of experiance such as himself to have earned the rest by doing the 'cushy job' of post war peacekeeping.

Stance versus the standing orders: Although in his current state, he is still a dedicated veteran of battlefields and will follow orders to the letter, albeit with much emotional strain if angry. Fiercely loyal to his comrades in arms, he would look after them as he would his deceased family, despite his hateful disposition. However, he trusts no one fully and sees anyone else outside of the military as targets to vent at, which fosters a wide variety of abuse and violence when it came to interacting with civilians. Any designated enemy that is pointed out he will have no hesitation to shoot to kill unless told otherwise.

Dennis is an all rounder, but his specialties lie in his speed, stealth and short range recon.

Sexual orientation and limits: Purely hetero. He takes what he wants to sate his anger, be it sexually or violently. Limits include those within my preferences page. Due to exposure to radiation in the field of battle, his semen no longer contains any sperm, meaning he can still have sex but can no longer father children.

Extras:

Training: His previous posting was with the 31st Light Mechanized, a US army division under NRF jurisdiction, and he served and trained in that division all his life, before and after WWIII. His specific light armored infantry unit was specialized in rapid mobility and urban combat, having seen action in the streets of Ankara, Turkey, Shanghai, China and Pripyat, Ukraine over the course of the entire war. They trained and fought alongside British RAF paratroopers during the invasion of Turkey in the first phase of the war. At that time, Dennis became proficient with various assault recon tactics, both light and heavy mechanized and infantry, in addition to his training in rapid deployment intervention. The operations in Shanghai involved his unit in heavy combat zones within the city's closely packed streets. He trained to be more effective in urban warfare with various units that range from Italian and Russian nationalities. At Pripyat, his unit was held up with the combined forces of Israel, Arabia, Russia and the US, and performed many training exercises with thier respective divisions. Learning heavy defensive and commando tactics and deviant forms of psychological warfare was more or less necessary for survival, as the allied forces defending the blockade was cut off from all communications with Euro HQ. He recieved no further training after the war except the required refresher course before he joined Eagle.

All in all, Dennis has been trained to excel in mostly urban and semi urban environments as well as rapid tactical operations within such environments.

Short bio: Born and raised in his homeland of Ireland, Joel would be what most people would call a misfit considering the type of person he became. Joel has been the type to joke about every little thing that happened in his life, even in the most serious of situations. He would have made a great bartender or musician had life not taken a turn for the worse at the age of fifteen. A seemingly random bombing by the IRA had left Joel without a family or home. It wasn't for another week till a group of NRF soldiers found him crying and laughing at the same time in a small pit he must have dug out by hand. From that day forward, Jester, as he was now called, joined the forces that saved his life to get back at the people that ended his future. Even with the violence and pain he has seen and felt in his life, he has never been able to go a day without smiling for some reason or another, sometimes to the annoyance of those around him.
Stance versus the standing orders: Joel is the type of person who tries to see the best in any given situation, and as such, is a rather kind bloke. He tends to be a bit kinder to the various people he sees during a patrol than most of his squad. Due to his history of being a refugee for some time before being taken in, he can relate a bit better to some of the people, particularly kids. He has often disobeyed direct orders and faced punishment for such if he felt that the order was too harsh on a person that, for all other purposes, was just trying to eat. He is usually the first to voice concerns and offer his opinion, even when no one cares.
Sexual orientation and limits: Joel is strictly heterosexual, though his limits for such are rather simple. So long as he isn't left bleeding seriously or anything that isn't supposed to go into his body stays out, he's fine. He doesn't actively pursue relationships with his fellow NRF soldiers, but he will occasionally indulge in some downtime with his squad-mates.

Well I'd rather keep the opposition as NPCs. The goal for this is not to turn into a large scale battlefield, it's about Eagle Squad patrolling, meeting resistance, kicking it down and abusing, having fun with them.
