HERE ARE OUR CURRENT NEEDS FOR CHARACTERS:


Specific:  Looking for a male character to play a Tribune of the 1st Legion, to play opposite WaitingCynicism (Character Aurelius).

Always looking for more priestesses for Philae, for now.  Once the story moves back north and away from Philae, the demand will drop.
The High Priestesses of Philae follow ancient ways, practice forgotten rituals (the rest of Egypt has it all wrong.  Heretics!), and are engaged in their own power struggles.  How to deal with these Roman invaders?
Priestesses do not necessarily have to be of Egyptian origin.  What is mandatory among them is that they overtly worship the Egyptian Pantheon of Gods, and adopt an Egyptian name.
Banefret will have it no other way....

Always looking for more Romans, or Greeks!  Any will do, but we have a need for a merchant type.
Otherwise, the 1st Legion is top heavy in soldiers, slaves camp followers and hangers on at the moment.

Now to the main body:

Indigo and I are set to begin a grand story, that will at least start in Upper Egypt (with plenty of room in there to change geographic localities), following the demise
of Cleopatra and Mark Anthony.
It's going to be very epic, and very violent.
With some romance thrown in for good measure.

This won't be a game.  This is going to be a story.  So no stats, dice etc.
Your characters do what your characters want, short of killing off other main/secondary characters (or completely screwing up another writer's vision) without permission.

This story will be long.  It might even progress to other eras.  Through the fall of the Roman Empire, into the Dark Ages and beyond.

We are going to be looking for many additional primary, secondary and tertiary characters to fill out the multitude of roles this story is suited for.
All genders and preferences welcome.

Two characters are set in stone:

Marcus Tullius Decius, Legate of the 1st Legio Apollonia.
He's my main character.

And...

Banefret, the High Priestess of the Island Temple at Philae.
Indigo will give the rest of her description.

This story will include intercourse, heavy bondage and sadism (masochism too, if that's your thing), violence, blood and gore, drug use (opium), human sacrifice, and slavery.  Because it's ancient times.  Will definitely be tagged EX.

We are trying for tasteful/poetic erotic, NOT pornography.

It will also include the supernatural.  Existence of Ancient Egyptian (and other) Gods.  Immortality.  Spirits.  Ghosts.  Hints of very ancient vampirism.  We shall see....
No flashy fireballs and lightning bolts.  We aren't going there. 
But conjuring up storms at sea, controlling animals, subtle healing, invading dreams, fertility powers, et al.  Those are good examples of what might be included.
And it's going to be a tragedy.  Because all the best stories are.

Cursory knowledge of that time period is not required, but will be a help in moving the story. Indigo and myself are here to help if anyone has any questions concerning the subject matter.
You might learn a bit as you go, if you haven't been introduced to this era before.  Personally, it's one my favorite eras.

We are going to be taking liberties with ancient history on this one, so strict historical accuracy is not mandatory. 
In other words, we are changing history enough to make it more story friendly.  But not enough to make the story implausible, and ruin other people's immersion.

All sorts of characters and personalities can find a home in our story.

And if you like to play several characters, we are good with that, as well.
I myself will likely be sticking to Decius, with some additional "red shirts" to use as cannon fodder.

One does not have to be present from the start of this story.  We plan on writing it in a modular way so characters can come and go as they please without disruption.

And one caveat:  Indigo and I are very broad minded, and want to give other writers the maximum amount of leeway, so creativity can be showcased.
UNLESS...we find something ( a post or elements of a post) immersion breaking or incredibly ahistorical.  In that case, let's have a discussion about how it can be changed to better fit into the story.
Other than that, you have full permission to go wild, and vicariously become a part of the history of the classical/antiquity era.

Decius and his get arrive as emmisaries from the Empire. Emmisaries in name; obvious Roman invaders. Barbarians, lower level vermin.
Only allowed upon the island as to refuse means a plethora of these Roman  invaders to rape my priestesses and pillage my Island.

Banefret as been High Priestess as long as anyone of her priestesses can remember.
No man approaches Banefret without her consent.

For this...I am seeking a few interested in rping 'the inner circle' of Banefrets priestesses. It is a unique role(s)
Our Island and our ways are as nothing else.
Ancient mystery, dangerous to these invaders, cryptic ways. Old, old world prayers to the Egyptian Gods as they were in the Dawn.

I am also intrigued.  I don't know a lot about Ptolemaic Egypt but it sounds like that won't be too much of an issue.  Are there any types of characters in particular that you're hoping to have?  Because I'll probably need some help narrowing down my options.  ::)
