For new majors, would a fighting/athletics field work? I was thinking of making a martial arts based character, and it could open up for more jock types as well.

I know I know <3 it's just that concept wise, it doesn't make sense to be able to attain 6+ gym badges with just a Metapod, a pokemons got to have some bite to it to make that happen. :3

I never suggested nor said that someone should roll in with one magikarp or something like that. I would reject that character. Try not to read between the lines too much.

Ace Trainer would fit that category. Bridgette is that type.

I know you said not playing hard and fast to the rules, but is there going to be a limit on moves known like the games? Knowing how I work in the other game I'm in, I'll probably make a list of moves each of my team will know :P I'mma nerd that way.

EDIT: And while I'm thinking about it, is Mega Evolution a possibility? I'm not too interested in having a team member Megavolve, but just curious.

It's possible, but I'll probably save it for a story beat.

You can't get too crazy with how many your pokemon know, but I think four is a pretty small limit to have so feel free to go over that. And it has to be a move the pokemon would learn, naturally. TM and HM moves are fine so long as the pokemon can use it.

Okay, makes sense, so a first or second stage pokemon couldn't learn a move only its final stage gets, unless it's a TM move. But okay, glad to know ^.^ Will try to not go crazy, though it would help to know what I'd use lol.

I was just craving a Pokemon RP. I was gonna start one up, but this one looks really good. I will very likely be working on a application.

Probably going to go for a bug type specialist.
Defender of the Sonic Franchise, Ash Ketchum, DCEU and Star Wars Prequels.

I enjoy Superhero RPs and Sci fi settings but am down to try anything new really.

pdragon

Name: Mariko Kimari "Mari-Mari"
Home Region: Kalos
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bi-sexual

Student Details
Major: Ace Trainer

Pokemon: Pangoro, Machoke, Sharpedo, Riolu

Strengths: High energy and determination. Has a close bond with each of her pokemon, and trains (and sometimes even tries to fight) beside them, allotting her a deep understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Is very good at improvising and coming up with quick strategies on the fly. Her flashy style and personality allows her to throw her opponents off their game whilst maintaining her own confidence and control. Due to her emphasis on fighting type pokemon she excels at close ranged battles, and will often elect to teach her pokemon physical moves over special ones.

Weaknesses: Her strong pride can sometimes border on arrogance, overestimating her and her pokemons' capabilities. Because she sees herself as a fighter herself, she can sometimes act recklessly and put herself into the line of danger rather than just sitting back and letting her pokemon take the lead. Also because she focuses so much on physical attacks, she is lacking when it comes to range combat. While she can be very good at improvising things on the spot, she doesn't have much in the way of preparational strategy outside of "punch them in the face REALLY hard", thus if someone can catch her off guard early she can have a hard time adapting. She is also highly competitive, and hates losing, causing her to get easily heated when someone claims to be better than her, and cannot let a loss go until she gets a proper rematch.

Look/Appearance: 5'8, 145lbs. Has a slender but toned build with an ample bosom and wide, flared hips. She has lightly tanned skin, light blue-green eyes, and dark, blackish purple hair that she keeps styled up in a pompadour, giving her a somewhat thuggish look (though some would just describe it as "goofy"). She wears a heavily modified school uniform, set with a myriad of collectible pins and ties as accessories (with her collection of gym badges scattered throughout her ensemble to highlight her accomplishments). While the uniform comes with a fairly short skirt, she always wears form fitting spandex shorts underneath so that she can always move about freely without fear of being immodest.

Student History
Personality: Mari is a bit of an enigma personality wise. Her greatest influence, her father, was originally in an infamous poke-gang when she was younger, before becoming a small town fighting type instructor. This instilled in her both her unique (and somewhat outdated) sense of style, as well as her drive and discipline when it comes to fighting and training. She tends to act and speak in eccentric ways, and is prone to spewing out odd catchphrases she comes up with, or reciting long winded monologues while in the middle of a battle. She has a strong love for music and dance, and will often begin dancing in place whenever she's not focused on anything in particular. She has a strong link with her pokemon, though it goes a bit beyond the typical bond of friendship trainers share. She almost treats her pokemon as if they are part of her "gang", and will often try to fight along side them as much as have them fight for her, believing that a true leader leads by example. She also tends to speak with her pokemon as if she can genuinely understand what they're saying (which she cannot), having entire drawn out, one sided conversations with them, often to comedic effect.

Background: There really isn't much to Mariko's story. While she would have loved to have a tragic and melodramatic history involving plenty of ancient blood feuds and murdered family members (just like in her favorite action dramas), in truth she was just a relatively normal girl growing up in Lumiose City. In fact the only real struggle she had growing up was not having the same interests as the other girls in her school, causing her to end up gravitating more towards the boys. For years Mariko was always considered just "one of the boys", and most of the guys were too intimidated by her toughness to even consider asking her out, however they did happily discuss their budding interest in other females, and it was during such talks that she realized her own attraction to girls. Again proving to be "one of the boys" Mariko happily joined in whenever her friends went to check girls out, swapped porno mags, and all the other shenanigans that came with puberty.

During middle school her friends started to fall into a more degenerate crowd, and Mariko followed straight in after them. And while she never was very good at being a rebel or causing chaos, she was damn good in a fight, and ended up becoming the group's go to girl for handling any messes that started getting out of hand. Fearing their daughter was going down the wrong path, her parents decided to try and get her involved in something constructive and disciplined, and thus she was enrolled in her father's pokemon dojo, her very first pokemon being an adorable yet fiery pancham.

However this alone wasn't enough to dissuade her from her delinquent life style, and while she was a quick learner and a dedicated student, once her lessons were done she would always immediately turn around and run off to meet with her friends and show off her new moves. Due to this the gang was inspired to get into pokemon together, and often got into big multi-man scraps with other neighborhood kids across the city, Mariko always being the rowdiest as she was never content to just let her pokemon do the fighting and would throw herself right at the opposing trainer whenever they did battle.

After building up a fair deal of street cred in Lumiose City, the group decided to try their luck at actually running the pokemon league. Together the journeyed across the region, facing new challengers and gym leaders alike. After toppling their 4th gym word began to spread of the traveling band of tenacious youngsters, known collectively as the "Gostars", earning themselves a not insignificant bit of notoriety. Eventually talk of their skills would attract the attention of a PTA scout, and when they came to interview the group Mariko was quickly singled out as the stand out member of the group. While hesitant at first to leave her friends behind, neither she nor they could deny the incredibly opportunity it presented, and spurred on by the supportive words of her friends she ultimately ended up accepting the invitation, promising to come back an even greater trainer than ever before, and making her friends promise that one of them would be waiting for her as the league champion by the time she got back.

la dame en noir

Name: Katherine Marigold
Home Region: Unova
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual

Student Details
Major: Historian

Pokemon:

Sir Kingly       Miyu       Eressa

Strengths: She's quite intelligent, but not cocky. This gives her a leg up in the academics department and makes a force to be reckoned with. As a trainer, she is very defensive and careful of her decisions during battle. Sir Kingly, her Kingdra - Miyu, her Frogadier - and Eressa, her Kirlia, have been together since her earliest memories. Their bond is strong, so much so that it is hard to mistaken it for anything other than friendship. This makes for pokemon battling

Weaknesses: Keeping her head the books and her mind focused only on herself and her pokemon, makes her a very hard person to get along with. At times, Katherine can look arrogant or full of it, when she really wants to focus on doing well. This can cause her to get into fights with other students (not willingly) and put herself into situations she knows she can't win or is unnecessary.

Look/Appearance: Katherine is of average height, standing five feet, five inches. She is unique in appearance because of her skin condition that puts white patches sporadically through her skin. It took a while to get used to, but she wears it as a badge of honor. Her eyes are a bright blue color and her hair is a vibrant cotton candy pink. Although small chested, she is quite curvy - with thick legs and a round behind. Her style is much like her appearance, casual - yet colorful.

Student History
Personality: Katherine is a studious and ambitious young woman. Her time is often spent in the books, studying all she can about pokemon, making her a very geekish individual. Though at times she can come off rather stuck up or in her own world, she is a caring and king person deep down. Despite her nature, Katherine has a knack for competition and getting her hands in any sort of academic or pokemon battle of sorts.

Background: Katherine grew up with her mother, father, and older brother in Castelia City - Unova. Her love of academics, pokemon, and competition come from the collective backgrounds of her family. At young age, she received her first pokemon Horsea after her family noticed her love of water and swimming. On a whim she named her Horsea - Sir Kingly, even though Horsea was female. The family embraced her quirkiness and the name with open arms.

From then on, Katherine grew up going to several pokemon schools where she learned the basics of training, battling, and a few niche know-hows. She especially gravitated towards the historical and scientific aspect of Pokemon, giving her the academic push to do well in the future. Although Katherine was smart and hardly talkative, she was teased relentlessly for her looks. This gave Katherine an even bigger push do well and not worry about everyone else around her.

Through her studying and drive, her parents rewarded her with two new  pokemon - A ralts she named Eressa and a Froakie, her mother got from her visit in Kalos, that she then named Miyu. Together, her Seadra, Froakie, and Ralts became the best of friends. Many kids her age thought she was strange because of her fascination with Pokemon and her unwillingness to make many friends because of the teasing.

As she got older, she grew to accept who she was and in that journey, her pokemon had evolved into Frogadier, Kingdra, and Kirlia. Through this new discovery, she drastically changed her hair from the natural black, to a bright and colorful pink. This made her stand out, whether good or bad, and help her self-confidence.

Eventually her hardwork and dedication paid off. Her work ethic and intelligent mind grabbed the attention of the PTA, where she was one of the few to be selected to work under such a prestigious academy. Her family not only fully supported her, but encouraged her to go and try something new. This is the first for Katherine to be so far from home, but she knows it'll be worth the journey.

Other
Likes: Her pokemon, studying, writing, drawing, ocean, snorkeling, water & dragon pokemon, and Pokemon competitions
Dislikes: Procrastinators, abusers, bullies, not spending time with her pokemon
Ons/Offs: Intelligence, Aggressiveness, and Kissing

Personally I don't see much issue with a girl heavy game, especially when all of them so far are lesbians/bi. I honestly wouldn't worry about it too much, then again I've never liked the mentality that the gender ratio of an rp has to be equaled out because "reasons".

Also nice character Noir, she looks fun, also gratuitous "dat ass" comment.

BAMF - I was considering writing up a male ghost type specialist and I could make him bi. I've never written a gay male relationship before but I don't see any reason as to why I couldn't.

To be fair though that's not really an issue with the female population, so much as one with the gay/bi male population. Having guy characters does not inherently add more options if those guys don't happen to be available for a gay pairing.

Doing a bi-sexual male. Could always steer him more toward guys. We'll be staying two and two in rooms. Perhaps an insightful headmaster pairs them up. ;P

Currently my character is all about "dem bears" (Pancham, Teddiursa and Cubchoo) with one extra that I've not decided on yet. Likely going for the Ranger major so she'll be not accustom to being around so many people so often making her come off as shy (Rangers are of course incredibly isolated roles)

Okay, Starmie is my character's first pokemon, keeping the used Water Stone around as a memento. Now to figure out the other two pokes. Oh, my character's name is going to be Aurora and might have another psychic type, not sure yet. Possibly non-binary, not sure on pronouns. Likes shiny/pretty things, hence the Staryu/Starmie.
