Adapt or die was the unofficial course motto. What we didn't know was how literally it would be taken. After the first class, one person had died, and the numbers kept escalating as we progressed. By the end of the first month, only fifteen of us remained, and we were just getting into the advanced classes.

Sentenced, and brought to the "Emma Peel Institute for depraved young women", young innocent Paula had to adapt all her behaviour to the harsh and humiliating rules of the institute. It was not easy going for her, but necessary to survive in this hostile and terrible environment. When she was released fourteen month later, she was... a completely different person. Glad to have done it.  ;D

She was famished from working long hours without a break to even grab a quick bite. When she was finally given time for her lunch hour, three hours overdue, she blackmailed him into buying pizza, getting rid of her problem once and for all. Her boss' boss got wind of what she had done and gave her a promotion.

Last year the field crops wither away as the autumn was rainy, foggy and cold. In the winter people all around in the countryside famished. The Abbess of the convent did her best, giving most of the reserves from the tithe barns to the hungry.

Amelia squinted up at the large door, panting and with hands clasped over her knees. With the remaining bit of energy, she stepped forward and rapped harshly on the door then. She was just about to give up then when the door slowly creaked open and a woman stepped out, “oh” was all she had heard before she lost consciousness. When she came to, the woman was by her side, looking down on her with a smile that wavered slightly, “you look famished, my dear. Had we been a little late…” She shook her head then before continuing, holding up a glass of juice for the girl, “Here, drink. The desert can be harsh…it is a miracle you even made it here.”

On the following sunday the chaplain did a homiletic speech to the mustered soldiers at Wallenstein's camp, remembering them to be obedient to their superiors and thankful for all they got - culminating in his usual exhortation: Contenti estote - be content! - stipendiis vestris - with your pay.


by the way:
I just remembered that a teacher of mine told us to keep with each vocable and each grammatical construct we should memorize at least one sentence containing it...

In the cottage there was only one room, a large fireplace, a table with some fruit and bunches of herbs, crystal flagons containing many-colored fluids. A book was lying there, opened, a candle spending flickering light. Over the fire there was a big cauldron hold by a trammel, a bubbling potion simmering.

Hella the modern witch put an advert to the xwitch.com board, announcing that she would be able and willing to create "bespoke spells" for every situation and purpose. She was shocked when a request came in from the darknet, asking for a spell to morph a dachshund into a pink -colored, 22 feet sized crocodile.

The bespoke game had been specially created for his daughter so she could experience the joys of camping with animals.
Alas, the constant need to catch butterflies to sustain life for her pet cat drove her to madness and she would only eat tuna and hairballs from then on.

How was that possible? Could this new ship really hijack an alien comms system? Before I could ask my question, he had already signed on the dotted line.
