Aww, does that mean Alejandro's not showing up? Or did you plan to play two? I thought the riff-raff kid trying to make his move on the older squad members might be amusing. *snickers* ;p

I think he intends to play two characters :P

I've been following this thread for a while, as I'd love to get into an at least semi-serious military RP. I can handle it systemless with the PCs all as teamates, so that's okay, but I've got a couple of questions:

One thing that's a total deal breaker for me, is there going to be a moderator/GM to handle the action scenes at the very least, or a bunch of players doing a cooperative writing project?

Slightly less important, but I'd like to know, what level of content is there going to be? Will there at least be the possibility of being caught and raped by NPCs, or is this game sticking to just consensual scenes?

Oh I sure hope there'll be NC stuff. I'm all for that and will make the thread in the NC forum. As for fight scenes as I said there shouldn't be actual physical violence between teammates, that would be punished severely. Altho I'm not opposed to one soldier trying to get rough with another, bounding, sex wise or pushing around, that's all fine. As far as NPCs everything goes.

That really didn't answer my first question, lol.

What I want to know is: when we do get into a firefight, as a team, not against each other, who's running the OPFOR? Are you going to be acting as a GM, Elfguy, or are the players going to be writing the NPCs actions themselves? The former makes it more like a RPG (my choice), the latter becomes more like a collaborative writing project (not my cuppa).

Did that make more sense?

I think I'll focus on Suzzi, but Aleandro could be an NPC if you want him.

elfguy

Oh I see what you mean, not I'm not going to write large battles where I play a bunch of NPCs that attack everyone in the group. Everyone can play their own NPCs that they interact with, and others may interact with those NPCs as well.

Alsheriam

Does it mean that it's a 'to each his/her own' stance when it comes to typical NPC interactions, but you'd take over as DM during large-scale engagements?

Ah, too bad. Not my kind of game then. I like the uncertainty that comes with less control.

Good luck to you guys, though, hope you all have fun! :-)

From his last reply it sounded more like there won't be any large-scale engagements that would require a DM.

@AK: NPC as a member of the squad or in the town? Just curious. What can I say, uppity young guys amuse me sometimes. ;p

Probably a squad member, Even if he doesn't show up, Pvt Lin will make references to him as her stupid Ex Boyfriend.

Shjade

Cute. ;p

Sidenote: I'm almost guaranteed to screw up the technical stuff on the weapons - it's not really my thing. So...yeah. >.>;

Just remember, the thing with bullets in it is called a Magazine not a clip :p

Even with the pistol? *looks it up* Hunh. Now I have to investigate where the clip terminology came from, due to curious! :o *looks that up* Aha, I sees the difference. :3

Yep, A Magazine is any device that holds ammunition inside a firearm. Specificity the ones most modern pistols, submachine guns, and Assault rifles use are called Detachable Box Magazines. This is what most people mean when they say "Clip"

Really a Clip is a strip of metal that holds ammunition in place. Some Magazines, particularly non-detachable ones on older guns, have clips inside of them. You load bullets into the clip, then load the clip into the gun's magazine.

So does someone I know in Shang. She smacked me when I asked her opinion on my weapon choice and basically demanded I change the character's rifle on threat of bodily harm. >.>;

On threat of bodily harm. lol. Unsure if the Target would be a suitable weapon for typical patrol. The RFB rifles however, look really good for such patrol work.

edit: On the flipside though, the squad could always use a Designated Marksman. :D Here's a really appropriate DMR!

L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifle! This is a really recent development by the Brits who got tired of getting potshots from the Taliban who engaged at 800m+ with machineguns and high-powered rifles, and they couldn't return fire at all because the L85 series and FN Minimi weapons couldn't hit well beyond 400-500m. So this was introduced to hit targets effectively at 900m and even has a Close-Combat red dot sight on top of the big scope. Huge win weapon here.

Mm, I sorta wanted her to be under-equipped for heavy combat. Balances out her skills as a specialist: lots of neat stuff she's great at doing, but still has to stick with the squad to do these out-in-the-open patrols. The Target seems like it'd fill a role like that. Figure, given that sort of work is her "usual" assignment, and given inventory isn't in huge supply given the post-apoc setting, she'd just have to make do with her gear in the new setting.

That and I don't know enough about guns to get the best fit for whatever I'll be doing anyway, so I figure I may as well shoot for a particular goal and wing it from there. ;p

Most likely, yes! We'd always love to have more female characters. :D

Shjade

Well hey there, Yuna. Been a while.

Pretty sure Elf had originally said 4-8 and we only have 5 (6 if you count Alejandro), so I don't see why not? The IC thread's just starting out, too.

I'm wondering if you still have room as well, having an idea for a female combat engineer style character.

elfguy

Well so far I think we're all female except one? That may cause a problem..
