Rough draft, but I wanted to get something written up ASAP

Name: Angelo De Rica
Age: 24
Race: Human
Role/Rank: Sergent (enlisted), authority of Xenobiology and general medicine
Personality: Angelo is a very intelligent young man with an undying thrist for knowledge though hes a bit shy and has trouble getting close to people which often makes him struggle to find a place in any crew. Even though he has the drive and excellence to be an officer he takes pride in being a normal enlisted man, often noting that ships couldnt run without the everyday working soldier.
Background:Antonio was born and grew up in Florence, Italy. His parents were both doctors and part of an inter galactic study group specializing in disease research. Early on Angelo took an interest in medicine, when he read the studies that his parents often left lying around their villa and it drove him to learn as much as he possibly could from every source of information he could find.

It wasnt long before everyone that knew him realized he was much smarter then the average person and after some testing Angelo was certified as a true genius. He flew through early education, graduating from elementary schooling by age eight, then high school by age twelve, and by age 16 he already had a doctorate in medicine.

A year later one of his papers would be read by the scientific community and he was approached by a reknowned Andorian Xenobiologist to assist in some work. Their meeting sealed Angelo's true calling as his studies of strange organisms gave him far more intellectual pursuits to look forward to. However it was clear that staying on earth didnt provide the same opportunities that space did so he enlisted in Star fleet as a rank and file medic.

Antonio served on the Kitsune, a Maelstorm class fleet escort ship patrolling the edge of federation space. He might have served as a nurse aboard the ship, that is if they hadnt come across a damaged vessel with alien life forms aboard that the federation had never seen before. Unfortunately the creatures assumed the Kitsune had hostile intentions and attacked, boarding the ship and imprisoning the crew. However Antonio managed to escape along with the chief medical officer and captain. With Antonio's experience in Xenobiology they were able to force the aggressors off the ship by releasing a gas that caused a severe allergic reaction. Antonio quickly flew up the ranks on the ship, moving to the rank of Sergent in just three years after the incident (a feat that normally took 5-6).

However three months ago the Kitsune was damaged beyond repair during an evacuation mission and the crew reassigned to various ships around the fleet. Over his 7 years in star fleet Antonio had earned some of the greatest medals and enlisted man could. Everything about his file said he was an overachiever and a hero so he became a hot commodity around the fleet.

Starfleet appears more akin to a navy than other branches of armed service, so Petty Officer may be a more apt rank for Angelo. Maybe something to consider for the next draft, but ultimately a minor detail.

The ship also needs a name.

And Scribbles . . . I'ma science ya right in the butt. :P

Actually, not happy with what was here. Will re-write something else.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

I like the idea of a Star Trek game, but not sure if I like the idea of having it be post-DS9.  I might have a nugget to build off of though.  And if I do, I'll point people your way in case my idea doesn't click :D

Name Gillian Loeb
Age 32
Race Human
Role/Rank Diplomatic Attache/ Consul, United Federation of Planets (acting Lieutenant)
Personality Calm, collected, mediator
Background
Gillian was born on the moon base to civilian parents and as she grew older made several trips to various Federation worlds with her replicator repairman father.  She picked up several federation languages and excelled in those studies but, to her fathe's disappointment, was never as skilled with the technical aspects.

Star Fleet was never considered as a serious possibility as she never had a chance at passing the Engineering section of the academy entrance exam and so she took a two year job as a translator to a mining company working on Vulcan.  While there she met various diplomats and once the job ended she enrolled for training with the Federation Diplomatic Service.

She moved slowly up the ranks acting as an assistant or "person sat round the table #4" but managed to impress at each stage until she was eventually being trusted with work on her own.

She's been attached to the <shipname> as a diplomatic attche in order to ensure that any contact made is handled well.  As is standard she's been given a temporary Star Fleet rank in order to clarify her position in the chain of command but she's not a Star Fleet person.  She struggles to remember rank insignia, has never been trained with a phaser and doesn't have all the access permissions to the computer system her nominal rank would indicate.

Do we have some Idea the size of the vessel we will be serving on? In star trek the exploratory vessels are usually one of the largest class of vessels fielded by a fleet at a given time. Will we be having families live with us on the vessel like on the Galaxy class? Sorry to leave you with questions but the factor in to what I would like to play...The Idea seems solid. I cant say I have played many online freeform games. I have played freeform live though.

Cold Heritage

I think those are good questions. They are fairly important elements that have not yet been determined.

For my part, I would vote for an Intrepid class sized vessel (that's what the USS Voyager was). It's a decently sized ship, we'd have approximately 160 crew members which would not include families of the crew.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Hephaestus

Not include...Does that mean that any family members would add more to that total. Or does not include mean that it wasnt designed to bring family members? I didnt know that the intrepid class was designed to do deep space survery like larger exploratory vessels?

Cold Heritage

I think it was not designed to bring family members. It's half the size of the Galaxy class USS Enterprise. And I can't find anything to say what the Intrepid class was specifically designed for on the wiki I'm reading, but since Voyager managed to do seven years in the Delta quadrant completely cut off from Federation support, it must be able to manage.

My suggestion is to base the game on a ship of that size, not necessarily a ship of that specific class.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Brandon

Someone more well versed in Star trek can elaborate on the actual size of these ships but from playing STO the deep space science vessels that I remember are Destiny, oracle, trident, and nimbus. The ships are made to be self sufficient because they're usually pretty far away from star bases. I imagine that means they have facilities to manufacture their own parts, recycle materials, and run on renewable energy resources (or have the most effective power to outputs per energy unit).

I may change Tisha's holographic programming design to be the Chief Counselor if no one else is taking the job.  Whether she takes up more than that would be heavily dependent upon whether the entire ship is wired for holographic capability or not.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Is this guy okay?  I'd consider him a fun challenge to RP.

Name:  Dafed Rondon
Age:  30
Race: Zaldan
Role/Rank:  Executive Officer
Personality:     Dafed Rondon abhors dishonesty.  What other races consider common courtesy strikes him on a fundamental level as potentially aggressive obfuscation.
In spite of this fact, Rondon is open-minded to the point of being a confessed xenopheliac.  Women of many species have felt his admiring glances.  He is not hesitant to tell a woman what he finds attractive about them.  Unfortunately, his sense of honestly compels him to be equally frank about their blemishes.
He is direct man, with an honest smile and a harsh scowl.  Though dedicated to Starfleet ideals of peace and discovery, he enjoys physical confrontation as much as intellectual challenges.  He will happily tackle a disruptor wielding Jem Hadar and use him as a living shield against his fellow’s fire.
What Rondon misses the most about his homeworld is the ocean.

Background:  Despite what other people’s consider the Zaldan’s aggressive personalities, their worlds islands have some of the most beautiful beaches in Federation space.  With most industry taking place on artificial islands or undersea domes, the Zaldan homeworld has a small but thriving tourist industry.
Dafed was born to a family who worked in this industry.  As a young man, he was exposed as much to other cultures as to his own.  His first love was a feline woman of the Regulan people, and his second was an Andorian.
By seventeen he knew that—if for no other reason than his own xenophelia—he was destined for Star Fleet.  Coming of age, he took his second name—Rondon—in honor of Captain Rondon of the Federation Starship Ja’tor.  (Captain Rondon has recently retired from active service and taken a full time position at Starfleet Academy.)
Though dedicated to his schooling, Dafid Rondon worked throughout his teens taking tourists diving and snorkeling.  An avid swimmer among his people, he was known for holding his breath for 20 minutes at a time with minimal strain.
Graduating from the academy on the command track at age 23, Rondon is particularly skilled at space science and Starfleet Self defense.  Even when facing such physically formidable opponents as Gorn and Klingons, he prefers unarmed combat to phasers.  Indeed, he is a passing marksman at best.
Rondon entered the dominion war as a Lieutenant.  His tactical knowledge, intellect, and physical abilities were pushed to their limits.  He claims particular admiration for the Klingons and the Breen as adversaries, the Gem Hedar he calls ‘skilled and persistent but predictable.”  Romulans, with their particular skill at obfuscation, give him a headache.

Zaldans:  Abrasive, direct, and honest to a fault with their allies, Zaldans are not well versed in diplomacy.  They actually hire vulans to represent them in most galactic affairs.
However, Zaldans are taller, thicker, and stronger than the human norm.  They are also substantially more resilient—particularly against toxins.  They can handle near freezing temperatures with minimal discomfort and survive the vacuum of space twice as long as a human.
Recognizable by their webbed fingers and toes and a subtle nictating membrane, Zaldans are quite comfortable in salt water.  Spending 15 minutes at a time is normal for modern Zaldan.  Fossil records suggest their primordial ancestors could stay under water as long as a Teran dolphin.

Given the long distances we're traveling and hazards we will surely face, may I sugest a Sovriegn Class vessel?

Alternatively, a galaxy class or Excelsior class.

An assault cruiser doesnt really fit the theme though does it?

Unless you guys want to be completely accurate to the world, then type of ship doesn't matter.

On that point, the Gamma Quadrant is not the quadrant to be waltzing into on an exploration ship thanks to it being the homebase of the Dominion. I cannot imagine the Dominion would pass up a chance for a little revenge by nuking a lone Federation ship. Remember, the Dominion was only beaten in the Alpha Quadrant. The Federation and its allies barely won that; they did not in anyway shape or form even come close to defeating the Dominion on its home turf.

The Delta Quadrant is also not the place for exploration either. Home of the Borg. The Beta Quadrant is really the only option.

That or you guys go in with a heavily armed flotilla of Federation/Klingon/Romulan warships and hope not to get owned.

Love And Submission

I'd also agree on  putting this after DS9 would be a bad idea. it creates a problem for anyone wanting to start a character form any of the races in The Alpha Quadrant like  Betazoidas.

Im not trying to beat a dead horse here but explorer class vessels are always the largest class vessels a fleet can field. I dont see any problem with taking a single vessel into any quadrant as long as the primary mission objective is not war. I dont think setting the game after the dominion war in any way inhibits someone from playing the core federation races...like Betazoids. I like the later time periods because its more likely to give you any number of race options.

But how would someone from Betazed join starfleet when it was under Dominon rule during the war?

They weren't beaten, really - the Dominion surrendered to the Federation after Odo cured the female Changeling.

The game premise could be justified by the notion that Odo manages to moderate the Changelings' position regarding solids and to broker the sort of uneasy peace between the Federation and the Dominion that exists between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

They wouldn't. But Betazed fell to the Dominion in late 2474, was liberated in early 2475, and the war itself ended in 2475.

How many years after the Dominion War the game starts has not been established. There's nothing, really, set in stone, and the only reason that has to stop you from playing a Betazoid is if you choose to let it.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

Color me interested. What roles on the ship are open exactly? I have a few character ideas for various roles, but it helps to have an idea of what's open to figure out which to work with.

Cold Heritage

So far, the only roles claimed are Executive Officer and Chief Tactical Officer (Brandon, I believe, is playing an enlisted crewmember who would, I suppose, be part of the medical staff). Anything else you may want to play is available.
Thank you, fellow Elliquiyan, and have a wonderful day.

I'm not aware of any of those being assault cruisers, Brandon.  They're exploratory vessels.

This may have already been answered, or it may be an issue that comes up with the various ships.  I don't honestly know, and I don't have severe technical knowledge of the genre.

Would the ship have full holographic capabilities?  As in, could a hologram exist anywhere on the ship, or only in specific areas?

I'll probably retweak Tisha to fit this concept.  I'm thinking Chief Counselor, but she can have an emergency security subroutine for if the ship gets boarded or something like that.  Other subroutines could be thrown in if we need specific roles as well.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.
