I always thought that a James Bond style roleplay would be a good fit. However, we shouldn't limit ourselves to just that.

What I had in mind was something that took things one step further. There are times in the cinematic Bond where he flirts with the edges of rape and force, although we never actually see James go quite that far. However, the Bond character undeniably has something dark about him  at times.

I'd like to take that aspect and emphasize it. I'm looking for a secret agent who would be much more comfortable with rape, murder and crime than his cinematic and literally counterpart. He would use the women he encounters in any way he sees fit to meet his goals. There would be good and bad girls, just like in the Bond movies. The setting would be in the 1960s, so the Cold War would still very much be a reality. I was thinking of having most of the action take place on a small, fictional South-American island. There would be a communist dictatorship in place, and the main character would be a CIA operative sent down there to cause some havoc by supporting and training the local rebellion.

An non-exhaustive list of the characters I'm looking for:

The CIA operative, the main protagonist of this roleplay
His rebel contact, a woman. I'd claim this role as my own
The president of this tiny country
The president's wife
The president's head of security and intelligence, the nemesis of our protagonist
A presidential bodyguard, perhaps?

Then I'd add some NPC, namely the civilians who inhabit that island, some NPC rebels and then the soldiers of the Presidential army.

Now to make things even more interesting, I'd like to see the CIA operative dealing with both sides. His eventual mission is to help the rebels to overthrow the dictatorship, but he should deal with both sides to gain an advantage in the long run. That means he'll interact with all other important characters, regardless of their side.

Seeing as the CIA operative has loose morals and questionable ethics, the main character is free to look for his own personal gain and pleasure, on top of his mission. He is free to use the island as his own personal Disneyland of violence and sex.

Sounds neat enough, to bad I don't feel like I can't take on another game atm, been looking for an agent game. But imho it is the CIA who should be the bad guys in this little scenario.  :P

They are.  ;D And then, they are not. All the main characters will be morally ambiguous, as I stated in my introductory post. The hero will be just as evil as the "bad guys" in many ways.

Depending on how you think the plot will go, I might be interested in playing a villainness!

Sounds most intriguing. Every side of the story has a dark character. I'd be interested in taking on that nemesis role, and even though it'd have to be one nasty person, I think there's a slightly human element behind him that thinks his job is actually a positive.

Only slightly, of course. I envision him as being in charge of the land in more ways than his job entails, as this is a communist nation, everyone pitches in and is part of his own personal growing colony. He guides them, but also has his own liberties.

And Bond villains always have the best quirks. :)

I'd truly adore playing your Bond, but i'd be afraid too post too slow for the rest of you.  What posting speed is the general consensus?

All right, then, how shall we do this?  Who else do we need?

Have you ever read any of Ian Flemings original novels?

I have, and to my mind the one that came the closest among the films was the last Brosnan film. Even it, though, didn't have the grittier elements of the novels.

*chuckles*

Hey, that makes us closer to canon, right?

gideonblake

Has anyone called dibs on the secret agent man, because if not, I do!

Muse

I had requested the roll, but if you're a faster poster, I'd submit myself to Red Eve for casting.

I see that you said once every other day which is most likely more than I can do. I'll submit myself to RedEve for casting, perhaps the dictator if he has no actor yet?

I've read four: On her majesty's secret service, You only live twice, Casino Royale and From Russia with love.

Most of my knowledge of the Bond universe goes back to the movies though.

Sorry to have disappeared on everyone, I'm back now! :) (It's been a bit of a crazy week, both personally and professionally, I won't bore you with the details...)

You are welcome to take the president's wife role. She'll be a villain in that she'll manipulate both our hero and the president to her own ends. She's possibly the most evil character of the entire roleplay, but she's also incredibly sexual, using her body as a weapon to get her way.

The CIA operative, the main protagonist of this roleplay - Muse
His rebel contact, a woman. - RedEve
The president of this tiny country - gideonblake
The president's wife - vix
The president's head of security and intelligence, the nemesis of our protagonist - guildmage42

This is a temporary role distribution. I'd like everyone to confirm they're still interested in the role they originally requested.

If everyone confirms, we can start the roleplay.

I'd like to jump on IM with you, RedEve, to talk about the plot and the roles some.  If that's okay, I mean!  Otherwise, PMs are fine.  I liked your description of the president's wife, but I'm not usually involved with non-freeform games and I want to make sure this is the right kinda thing for me to stick my nose into.  :D
