Hello everyone. I am about to start my own porn drawings, will probably upload a gallery. I love drawing, and I feel that this way I can share my fantasies with the world and maybe even earn money with it. But what do you guys think about it? Is it moral? I know it is very frowned upon by society. I mean, when you ask someone what they do for a living, and they say they are a porn artists, that might not sound very cool.
What do you guys think about this subject? Should I invest my time on this?
And what is a good site to start uploading and hosting my porn and fetish (mainly tickling and foot fetish) drawings?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello Zack!

I haven't spent much time in the on topic or other discussion forums, but you have a good question here and that seems like a good place to start!

To start with, so I don't mistakenly get your hopes up, I really don't know where you would host that kind of gallery. I know there are sites where people post their images to look at for free, but I'm guessing that's not something you are interested in at the moment. Perhaps something like wordpress.com or that one with an 'i' name that I now cannot think of the name of, would allow you to create/host your own page with links for payment and such. That's the only advice I can give there.

Now to my opinions on the subject.

I was raised to think that sex or any form of intimacy between two(or more) consenting individuals of appropriate age was acceptable. It's nobody else's business what people want to do with their chosen partner, said my dad to 12-year-old me after passing on a comment about lesbians I had heard from a school friend. From that day forward, I didn't give a damn what other people liked. Unless they liked me, and well, then, poor little shy, geeky, teenage me would turn bright red and go hastily the other way. Sorry, getting to the point, I swear.

If you want to make your living on your art, and your specialty happens to be pornographic images, then more power to you. I read a book once about a woman who designed stained glass art, and would hide erotic images in the midst of something entirely innocent, like a woman bound to a bed in the image of a mermaid. It wasn't a picture book, so I have no idea how she did it, but the idea is fascinating. Websites, actors, and producers make millions, if not billions of dollars every year off of pornographic videos and photos. Toy and lingerie stores make still more money for the sex industry. I see no reason why hand- or computer-drawn still images should not join the array of products available for purchase. Besides, the drawing scene from Titanic and the raves I've heard about it tell me your work would probably be well received.

If you're worried about what people may thing of your choice of career, then just tell them you're an artist and you specialize in drawing people. Or, and I know this is much-flaunted advice, don't worry about what other people think. You have a talent for something, and you're never going to make everyone happy. It simply won't happen. Be proud of having a career based sheerly on your own talent to do something unique and inspiring. Far better to be self-dependent and satisfied with what you do than shunted in to something that, while perhaps easier to share with friends and family, could leave you feeling unaccomplished, or depressed, or some other negative emotion.

Alibi: If you draw child porn, rape, or other illegal and really immoral things, I would totally blacklist you. However, I don't think that's your goal, so I see absolutely no moral or ethical dilemma with trying to make some money with your artwork. To my knowledge, there is nothing illegal about foot or tickling fetishes! Heck, I think a minor could just about have a moral tickling fetish. (that's a joke, don't get any ideas!)

I'm currently trying to earn some money by selling a hypno-erotic ebook. I admit that I struggled with the decision to do so, but in the end I decided that I just need to try sharing some fantasies with other people. And that I see no problem with getting some money for it :)

Overall, Zack, I believe that there's a multitude of people drawing porn or erotica - just look at DeviantArt with adult filter turned off :) Just like there are lot of people writing erotica. And yes, there are many people earning money that way. I know there's some stigma attached to it, but on the other hand, E.L. James made a lot of money on 50 Shades of Grey and she's not ashamed of it... and that book is porn, too. Moving away from books, just look up the works of Milo Manara - he's a respected artist (heck, the freaking Fellini worked with him) and yet, at least a significant part of his works is unashamed erotica...

As for whether it's even possible to make money that way - well, a guy I know from work is an artist. He draws normal fantasy art he puts on his Facebook and DeviantArt page, he draws sexy / fetish stuff he puts on Hentai Foundry... and he also takes erotic commissions. And he earns some money that way each month... not much, but some. I believe he gets commissions through a blog at Tumblr. So, it's possible...

*seconds the Manara recommendation*

On the less-elite side of the art world, Phil Foglio, who did the 'Phil and Dixie' comic series for Dragon Magazine is also known for his work on the game XXXenophile.

Phil Foglio? Girl Genius' Phil Foglio? Wow :)

BTW. I just looked it up and it turns out that XXXenophile was also a comic book series...

As we're speaking of comics, I'd also like to mention Oglaf. An unshamefully erotic / pornographic (and comedic...) web comic made by (I think) established creators...

Yes, that Phil Foglio. I think all the issues of XXXenophile are up on Slipshine (they will want money. It's well-worth it). Which pretty much showcases erotic comic artists, and they're all very talented. Some mind-bogglingly so.
Ackanime has gone around to drawing m/m, and people throw money at them for it (look around for Fireside Den).

So, yes. It's completely possible to draw erotic art/write fiction and expect it to sell.

As for where to host such works DeviantArt has already been mentioned but you may also want to take a look at the (massively NSFW) Hentai-Foundry, especially for any kinkier stuff.

When it comes to making money from doing so it strikes me that there are two main ways to do it; the first is by taking paid commissions (someone asks you for a specific piece of art and pays you to do it) while the other is setting up a Patreon where people can support your work, often in exchange for minor benefits (like getting sent early sketches or the like). For both things however you need a fanbase to begin with so you'll have to post a fair amount of stuff for free first and even so you may never make enough to live on (or even come close).

Looking at the morals and ethics? Well, I don't really see too many issues with the caveat that you shouldn't do anything illegal; after all, it's just images. Yes, you may not want to walk around announcing that you've made a career in erotic art but there's nothing to stop you simply saying you're an artist and, if really pushed, that you do "saucy" (to use an English phrase; I'm not sure if there's an equivalent in other countries) art. If tickling and foot-fetish art is going to be your bread and butter then you're hardly at the extreme end of what erotic artists produce... just look at some of the stuff that comes out of the aforementioned Hentai-Foundry or the other adult artwork sites.

Thank you guys. You're all amazing :)
I just find there is a huge stigma (as mentioned above) in it, specially since I was born and raised in a Christian lair. I went to church strictly till I was 22, and there I learned that even masturbating is a sin, that homossexuals go to hell, etc. So, now the tables have turned, and I find myself a bit afraid of making this decision. Just imagine the pressure. A few years back I thought that having sex without being married, or watching porn, was a sin. And now I am thinking of diving into the porn industry. Life can be surprising a few times, right?

There's a very old stereotype of the 'son of a preacher-man.'

Look up the song by Dusty Springfield (or Aretha Franklin).  It's radio-safe, but it gives the idea.

As others have mentioned, DeviantArt and Hentai-Foundry are excellent sites for art, particularly erotic and fetish art.

You're not alone.  Most of us who escape fundamentalist religions go through phases in our de-conversions; you're just early in it.  The longer you're away from it, the more you will see it with an objective eye, and realize it is all (like the Matrix) a system of control.

Enjoy your skills, and do what makes you happy.  As long as it isn't illegal, no one is being harmed by it...and you will certainly be making a lot of other people happy as well by sharing it!
