All right. Here's a very, VERY basic character sheet. You guys let me know if you want more!

Character name:
Current home: (This need not be specified if the home is the town itself.)
Age:
Physical description: (please include height, weight, hair, eyes, race, identifying characteristics, etc.)
Special skills:
Occupation:
Background:
Personality:
Family life:

That should be good enough for now! I'll fill one out for one of my characters later tonight.

Filling this out is strictly optional. You may include a photo (adhering to site guidelines) if you wish, to "cast" yourself. If you fill this out and wish for me to insert you into the story, let me know, and I will.

darkninja0200

Character name: Victoria
Current home:
Age: 19
Physical description:
Special skills: Weapons Specialist  and Military self defense
Occupation: Hatchett Falls Police
Background: Victoria was a police officer in great britain. She was special forces as usually british police officers didn't use guns. She worked for a year here before getting transferred to this small out of the way town. How she ended up out here was anyones guess. Either way she would do her duty to the best of her abilities.
Personality: She tends to be very serious and is the "goody two shoes" type. The light amongst the darkness. She is brave and strong willed, heroic, and often thought to be tomboyish which she is.
Family life: Has no family life as she wasorphaned at a young age.

(Hope you dont mind I alter a canon haracter for use in this RP)

Character name: Shaun Poe

Current home: Just outside Hatchet Falls

Age: 30

Physical description: 6'3", 190, blonde, blue, one of the few people in town who still wears glasses

Special skills: Shaun is very good at getting people to do what he wants. He's a smart man, but he has an abnormally high amount of emotional intelligence and natural charisma, particularly using the written word. He was a political science major in college, and while that skill wouldn't seem useful after the apocalypse, he's used it as he can. This has given him a bit of a reputation of a slickster to others in the town, but he does what he needs to to keep things running along smoothly. He once harbored dreams of writing novels, but he was never good enough and, well, there's not much of an audience now. Still, he pens a column for the local newspaper, and he's active in the community theater. He grew up on a farm and knows a bit about agriculture, but if the town relied on him to feed them, they'd starve.

Occupation: Deputy mayor/newspaper columnist

Background: Shaun grew up in Hatchet Falls, attending the small school there. His family owned one of the largest farms outside of town, and he and his family still live on that property. His class was filled with borderline geniuses; for whatever reason, Hatchet Falls seemed to spawn lots of kids like this, though maybe it's the fact that everyone in the town pushed each other to be better. He's adopted, and had just begun the process of finding his birth family when the world ended. He was a poli-sci graduate from the University of Minnesota and had worked for several senatorial campaigns. When the end came, he was between campaigns and introducing a girl he'd become quite taken with on one of those campaigns around town, to his friends and family. (Technically, he was her boss, but he came to rely on her more and more as the campaign went on.) That girl later became his wife.

Shaun's very smart and highly capable, but he has a tendency to be a bit bullheaded and not see the way his actions affect other people. In that regard, his wife is a necessary check and balance on who he is. Of all of the people in Hatchet Falls, he's the most open about his desire to open the town up to as many people as the city can and about his desire to try to contact the outside world again. His work as deputy mayor frequently brings him into conflict with most people in town, but the other members of the council respect him.

A handful of his best friends from high school are still around town, including fellow council member Dale Josefson. Shaun's the kind of person who has a tight, close circle of friends but also a wide circle of acquaintance, the kind of guy who used to friend everybody he'd ever met on Facebook. He's an idealist who wants to believe the best of people, but he's also pragmatic enough to know that people rarely do their best.

He has allergies that cripple him every harvest season and make him largely useless in the fields.

Personality: Always quick with a joke, Shaun tries to deflect conflict before engaging in it. On the other hand, he's never lost an argument, usually because he's the one who keeps pushing well past the point when he should. In the past, he's had a bit of a wandering eye, but he's been faithful to his wife since meeting her. Though who knows how long that will last?

Family life: Shaun's the oldest son of Curt and Mary Poe, farmers who live about a mile from Hatchet Falls. His wife is Trish Carlton. He has one child, Holly, who was born just four months ago. He has one sister, who is presumed dead, and a biological family he never met.

Character name: Trish Carlton-Poe (but don't EVER call her Trish Poe)

Current home: Just outside Hatchet Falls

Age: 28

Physical description: 5'5", 130, red hair, brown eyes, very pale skin. She looks like the girl who sat in the back of your study hall and kept doodling in a sketch pad, never saying anything.

Special skills: Trish is the most loyal person you'll ever meet, dammit. Since all of her family is presumed dead, that means she's not going to take anything you say against her husband or her daughter. She was raised in prep schools, and that means that as a child and teenager, she took fencing. Will this ever come in handy again? So far it hasn't, but she'll be damned if she's ever going to let anybody beat her with a sword. Trish is also hilarious, capable of defusing any situation with a well-placed joke, useful when trying to counter her husband's stubborn nature. She's useful with a curse word - trying to temper this because of the baby, failing - and she's the kind of person who attracts other people. Not because she's super hot or anything (though she's very pretty), but because of something in her nature. Unfortunately, much of the time, she'd rather be alone. This can create some conflict with her more sociable husband.

Occupation: Head of the incipient Hatchet Falls University.

Background: Trish was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, a city thought to no longer exist. Her family spent much of its time taking care of her younger sister, whose heart condition meant that she required more attention than self-sufficient Trish. This means that Trish largely raised herself, not that this bothered her. She was smart and capable enough to manage, and she had grand dreams of becoming a professor, just like her mother. Unfortunately, as she got older, she found less and less interest in school, thanks to undiagnosed depression, and she bounced in and out of college before dropping out entirely to work on a series of odd jobs, culminating in working in the upper levels of a senatorial campaign, where her boss rather caught her eye. He was the first guy to show a serious interest in her, but also the first guy she let get terribly close.

Weirdly, the end of the world jump-started Trish's life. It was like everything had been wiped clean, like she no longer had to worry about what people thought of her or what she would do. What she would do was live moment to moment, just trying not to screw the immediate things in front of her up. Using the local library and what resources others brought into the town, she began the program of rebuilding the town's educational system, from the ground up. She's recently started a university, even if she'll only have two or three students at first.

She has a couple of close friends, mostly guys, though she and Jenni Sanford get along mostly because they have to.

She cheated on Shaun one time. He doesn't know.

Personality: Trish can be a little prickly, but in a way that people seem to think is largely a joke. She's always fighting off the depression that threatens to drag her under, but her new life in Hatchet Falls, her child, and discovering her purpose have all pushed her to be stronger. She mostly loves quiet nights in with her family, reading one of the many books she never thought she'd have time for before the fall.

Family life: Trish's parents, sister, and old friends are all thought to be dead. She's married to Shaun Poe and the mother of one daughter, Holly, who is four months old.

Not a problem at all! Do you want to do the introductory post, or should I pull her into the story in my next post?

darkninja0200

I've never been good at starting so can you? ><

Cream

I would be interested in something involving 2, though it seems kinda like the under dog >>.  Something to do with christmas, a large family gathering with all of the delightful drama that comes along with that.  Something...Cliche, in it's nature, divorce and "Coming outs", alcohol problems, you know all of the like.  Woody Allen meets Tyler Perry :D!  Perhaps sometime down the road if you get the inkling to try booting that up, I'd be more than happy to make something for it.

Good luck with #1 though, I wish you all the best of times :D!
Fighting for a revolution of thought.

Oh, I LOVE Christmas. I'm sure we can come up with something! And feel free to drop in on the one we're doing right now.

Are there any spots still open?
Sure! Dive on in in the game thread, or if you'd rather I build the story around you, post your character in here.

toysintheattic

Game thread? And it would be very arrogant of me to expect the story to be built around me, so I will do whatever you think is more convenient. I could post my character idea here or I could jump right in!

As Diane is the head of the local schools in Hatchet Falls, I was going to pick her to play as, but I was wondering if I could have permission to create a character of my own. One of the teachers at the schools, perhaps?

Absolutely, you can create your own character.

Thank you. :) I will post shortly, probably 30 to 45 minutes at the most.

The character need not be a town citizen either. It can be someone who comes in from the wasteland, someone from the monastery, a local hermit, etc.

Whatever you come up with, I'll work him/her, Victoria, and my characters into an opening post tonight.

toysintheattic

Ah, I tried to post, and combined with the fear of being the first poster and not knowing exactly what I should do to help things flow with your opening post, I could not. I will post my character sheet, however. I'm sorry. :(

Character Name - Kayla Rhennon
Current Home - The town of Hatchet Falls.
Age - 26
Physical Description - Grey eyes. Auburn hair, more reddish than brownish. Very petite, 5'4".
Special Skills - She is an absolute expert at keeping people away from her. The people she must associate with in her daily life, and the children she teaches at the school know little to none about her personal life, her background, or her personality. She feels protected and secure in her way of life. Also, she can take extreme mental pressure. She has hardened her mind and heart, and no one can penetrate her defenses, so she believes. Her state of mind being the way it is and her father's rigid military upbrining has given her the ability to approach every situation with calculated logic, without emotion getting in the way. She can keep her cool no matter what is thrown at her.
Occupation - Teacher of grammar, literature, and writing skills at the Junior High of Hatchet Falls.
Background - She grew up on a military base with her father in South Dakota, so she was among one of the first groups to arrive at Hatchet Falls when the shit started hitting the fan. She attended the university on the base, earning several degrees in education and English. Her father died not long after arriving, leaving her the small house they resided in. She never ventured to be involved in the community or make close friends, or close enemies for that matter. She is known as an excellent, efficient, but shrewd teacher, but that's about all people know.
Personality - Kayla Rhennon is a hard woman. When people speak to her, which is rare outside of the school, she is kind in a cold and calculated way, and she gives the impression that it strains her to interact with others. She lives a very routine life at home. She eats at certain times, bathes at certain times, etc. She folds her clothes and makes her bed in military fashion, and keeps her small abode spotless, eat-off-the-friggin'-floor clean. She has trust in no one and nothing except for herself and the curriculum that she teaches. The way her father treated her growing up gave her the firm belief that no one had time to hear of her feelings, hopes, dreams, fears, or thoughts. As she grew older, she manifested the rejection of her father into not caring for anyone else the way her father seemed to not care for her. This is her protection against ever feeling that rejection again, ever feeling unloved or unworthy. She needs no one's approval except her own.
Family Life - Grew up with her father on a military base in South dakota, her mother died in childbirth.

I hope you like her. She doesn't like you, though. :)

Toys and Ninja? Here is a post that introduces your characters to the story. Please respond as you will!

Balen

If you are still taking characters:

Character name: John Beckett
Current home: The outskirts of town, a shack isolated behind a hill and surrounded by a dry forest.
Age: 26
Physical description:
A rugged, well set man, with a weather beaten face, amber eyes and a thin covering of stubble on a strong chin. With a light scar down his right cheek, and a sharp brow, he stands at about 5ft 10 and weighs 180 pounds. He has long brown hair and is Caucasian but often has a tan due to being outside so often. Usually you'll see him with a silver locket around his neck, and in clothes suitable for blending in with the outdoors.

Special skills: Helicopter piloting and Scouting. Specifically Rifles, Knives, foraging and tracking.
Occupation: Hunter
Background: Nobody knows where he lived previously and he’s not likely to tell you. He used to work as a park ranger and helicopter pilot before the end times, losing his family hit him very hard, and so only one or two people know of his past. You won’t know it to speak to him, as he’s friendly enough if a bit distant. He takes charge with actions, and finds courage when it deserts others, but he’s used to working alone not in a team.

Personality: He is a recluse, though friendly when you meet him, he never lets anyone inside that shack and seemingly lives alone. The only time people run into him is generally out hunting for food with his old hunting rifle, and large combat knife. He occasionally makes trips into town to sell furs, leather, eggs and other animal products. He is practically minded, but has a romantic side to him if you dig deep enough, there is a distinct love of the land no matter what condition it is now in, because everything heals in time. He likes the people here but keeps them at arms length.

Family life: He lives alone, as far as almost everyone else knows he has always lived alone, there are rumors about him and sometimes people have approached him to know more. All they will be greeted with is a warm smile and a shake of the head, which only adds to the mystery. Once a week he makes a trip out into the wilds to visit a clearing in the forest, nothing is more sacred to him, as it contains the graves of his wife and children.
