My concept:

I've been recently enamored with the concept of a mercenary who'd survived a headshot and went on to exact revenge on the one who shot him in the head before going on to "haunt" various conflict zones thanks to Warren Zevon's Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner. I am wondering if there's a way to truly make him truly headless or if his being headless is metaphorical, needing extensive reconstructive surgery and cybernetic replacements.

You wanna light up Van Owen huh? Love me some Zevon.

Who wouldn't want to blast Van Owen's ass from Mombasa all the way to Joburg, right? Through strength and muscle and Jungle Work, my guy will or would find his Van Owen.

No amount of Lawyers, Guns and Money would save him.

Son...you are an Excitable Boy. Just think we will all be in the house as the house burns down.

Hmm there's two cop like chars already in this, so will go with  the mad truck driver for this story.

Grizz

Brief Bio: Grizzwald Night, Nomad, vet, one-armed mad man born with road dust in his eyes and a semi truck as his cradle. Like all Nomads, Grizz learned the ways of the road from a young age. He was navigating on trade runs by age five, shooting gangoons at age twelve, and like most of his brothers and sisters joining the armed forces at seventeen. Of the ten of them that joined though, only Grizz lived through the many conflicts. Even then he didn't make it out in one piece, his left arm was lost in a belt fed ambush somewhere in Mexico, and his mind was lost stateside as he watched his clan slowly being wiped out or forced to integrate into a society that wanted them dead. His only escape was being on the road, and on the road was a war in and of itself, making a name for himself as a smuggler, merc, and thanks to his modified half track truck unoriginally called Trax, an armored escort for those who could pay him enough.

Brief personality: Grizzwald Night is what could be called an adrenaline junkie. He lives to cheat death, he is fearless, bold, and wily. But there are glints of a deeply moral soul beneath all the bravado, many would call him unhinged, others perfectly normal. Griz would say he's somewhere in the middle. Like everyone else in this damaged world you don't make it to the end the day being perfectly sane. Just the right kind of crazy to willingly go out into almost certain death on a daily basis.

Skills: Driver: Like anyone who wishes to live in the wastes, Grizzwald is a very skilled driver of most any four-wheeled land vehicles.

Marksmen: A skill anyone in the wastes needs to know. Be with black powder or modern guns Griz is highly skilled at rifle grip firearms.

Navigator: Another indispensable skill, Mr. Night is very good at using the stars and landmarks to find his way around.

Doctor: Trained as a medic in the Army. Grizzwald is a skilled albeit down and dirty Doctor.

Jury-Rigger: When the truck breaks someone needs to fix it as such Griz has taken it upon himself to learn all he can about engines and other technical fields, though lack of tools and two working hands means most of his fixes are more band-aids than proper fixes.

Today's the day, so I will be reviewing the ideas and reaching out individually.  Please understand that, while I can't accept everyone, it's certainly not because you're not awesome.. you all are.

What I will most likely ask, in order to pare down the best characters to start with, is a test scenario.  I'll probably give you a brief starting prompt-- either an IC moment or set a scene-- and ask you to respond with your character's actions.  It might be immediately starting events in the storyline or it could be "ancient history" (har-dee-har-har) of your character's background.  Responding "right" or "wrong" doesn't matter, it's how I think your responses and character will fit into the story and development.

I want to build a small "bench" of backup characters, so if I don't have a place for your character to start right away but I have a great idea for them to fit later, please let me know if that's ok.

Thank you everyone for your patience, and sorry for the prolonged silence :)  Sometimes it takes a while for the tumblers to click into place in my head, and I have to write lighter stuff to get the gears turning.  BUT... that all said, I will be sending out invites to PM back character summaries in a finished format, which I will then post to the CHARACTER DOSSIER thread for PCs and notable NPCs.  I don't know, at this point, that any of the concepts applied will be outright rejected, so stay tuned for your PM.

This is what many DOSSIER posts will look like, if you're hankering to get a jump on it:

Scylla
Age: Late 30s
Occupation: Bartender, Waitress, Consultant - O! Fortuna
Affiliations: La Vie Boheme (LVB) art society, Santa Muertes
Surface traits: Work - dry wit, snappy comebacks, great memory for faces and names, well liked, no-nonsense.  Personal - strictly business, protective of her coworkers, very private.
Advantages: Gang connections with leniency/respect from other gangs regarding turf as 'neutral ground' enforcer.  Sexy as hell.  Eases business.
Known information: Suspected to have a workroom on-side at O!F.  Possible netrunner allies.  Suspected to have been born in Pacifica, rumored to have ties to the VoodooBoys-- the most feared and spooky human presence on the free nets (aside from the Netwatch corporation's hunters).
Known Mods: Some combat enhancements but they're not full exoskeletal or limb-replacements (she took a fifth to the head from a cryked-out fiend and then broke his face... skull? head?  fuck, she broke his EVERYTHING before security could pry HER off), no visible nanowire or mantis blades.  Oculars likely.  LEDs are just cosmetic cover-ups... probably... for the scars of dome work, but who knows what?  Neural ports in the neck and temple look normal enough.  She could have low-level subdermal plating and a combat computer in there for all we know, or it could be some really high-end genetic-stuff.

Gulliver "Gully" Jimenez
Age: 32
Occupation: Security at O! Fortuna, former detective.
Affiliations: CSPD (still has old friends).  Liked by the staff at O!F, generally.
Surface traits: Gully is friendly, loyal, and confident.  He likes broads, booze, and baseball
Advantages:  Gully has a master's degree in criminal justice.  He has received extensive police training, possessing extensive knowledge in small-arms, hand-to-hand combat, and criminal procedure.  He is a highly competent wheelman.  He has street savoir faire and is familiar with the players in the Cruz's criminal underbelly.  Lastly, he has a really good arm, as Gully was a relief pitcher for his college's baseball team.
Known information:  He likes broads, booze, and baseball.  He seems to take the job at O!F seriously, and seems genuinely protective of the girls, but when asked about it this one time, Scylla said something like "you can dip your tempura in the tentsuyu once, and it's all good, but you better not over-dip it or the shit's gonna ruin the sauce."  What the fuck did she mean by that?
Known Mods:  Gully still possesses the same mods he received during his time on the force: a Skinwatch (dermal time piece, left wrist); DataTerm Link; Interface Plugs (right wrist, neck); Chipware Socket (temple, right forearm); Subdermal Armor (covering his torso and arms); an occular Digital Recorder, fit with a Chemical Analyzer; additional Image Enhancement (8x) and Low Lite Vision; with a Radio Link, with access to other police channels.  In addition to this, Gully carries a Sternmeyr Type 35 Heavy Auto Pistol on a shoulder sling, and a "medium armor" leather jacket.
Always seeking 5E games.

Sasha "Lavender" Price
Age:27
Occupation: Performer - O! Fortuna, Edgerunner
Affiliations: La Vie Boheme (LVB) art society, Dynatex (enemy), Maelstrom (enemy)
Surface traits: Tough, alluring in that gem-hard way.
Advantages: Street-hardened.  Good shot.  Virtuoso of anything with 2-6 wheels.  Off-road ready APC converted to envy-of-the-nomads armored urban light assault vehicle.  Has a little money, comfortable place.  Dances very well.  Liked by staff at O!F.
Known information: O!F and the LVB stick up for her because she's one of them, not 'some stuck up bitch', and she stays in her lane.  She's from Portland, OR (Federales).
Known Mods: Nueralware processor, Interface plugs, Braindance hardware Recording/Interface

I think I'm getting just about everyone now, so the character dossier thread will be up in the next day or so and then we can Fucking Rock.

Thank you all for your patience!

The Dossiers are updated (missing 2 possibles that had been approved and I was waiting for final reply)

Please bookmark this thread: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=333850.msg15899700

IC will open tomorrow night with my typical manic burst of overwrought description and monkeywrenching characters into strange positions-- no not that kind of position-- to hopefully pull them together to a knot of beautiful sweet prosaic fuckery.
