Some helpful slang terms of the era:

Beat one's gums: idle chatter
Beef: A complaint, or the act of complaining
Bee's knees (also cat's meow, cat's pajamas): Something wonderful, new, and/or very popular.
Bull: A policeman, often a plainclothes detective
Bunk: Nonsense
Dame (also skirt, broad, dish, doll, tomato): A woman
Dive: A club or bar, usually a little run-down
Don't know from nothing: having no information
Gams (also pins): A woman's legs
Get a wiggle on: get a move on, get going
Goon : A man, often implying he isn't too bright
Hard-boiled: Tough
Heater: A gun
Hood: Hoodlum, crook
It: Sex appeal
Jalopy (also bus): A car, usually old
Juice joint (also gin mill): A speakeasy, a club that secretly serves alcohol
Line: a false story, as in "to feed one a line."
Moll: A gangster's girl
Piker: (1) a cheapskate (2) a coward
Pinch: To arrest
Rod: A gun
Rummy: A drunken bum
Sap: A fool, an idiot.
Sitting pretty: In a prime position
So's your old man: An expression of irritation
Swell: Great, wonderful.  As a noun, also a term for a rich man.
Take for a ride: Drive someone away to be killed
Vamp: A femme fatale, a sexy female possibly hanging out with a bad crowd

Oh, no, vamp is an old slang word that I added to the glossary a little while ago.  Heh.  It isn't short for vampire... I think it comes from 'vamping it up,' dressing up and acting all sexy.  :)

You do know the roles are randomly assigned? I was a town folk for liquor's sake. The only trouble I had was posting first since it seemed no one was taking the intiative to get the game started.

Edit: Ladysky, you do know you have to compete with the redhead and the other Dames in the game? You do have competition especially with Trie's lovely gams.

It's a sad truth, though, that the first person to speak up often gets targeted.  My games are two for two on that, even though in both cases that turned out to be a bad instinct...

There will be a nighttime soon, though!  The bootleggers have to have their turn to hunt a little.  *nods*  So argue and roleplay all you like, react to Marguerite's tragic death, but no official votes just yet, please.  :)

Hope I'm not interrupting too much. As some of you probably know, I run a game that's very similar to this on this board: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?board=422

However, in the current game, someone had to bail out due to IRL issues. I'm not sure removing the role altogether would be wise at this time, and seek a replacement. However, all the current players that are dead have some kind of inside information that has not been made public, so I'd highly prefer someone who has not been playing this round.

If you like the current game, and wouldn't mind joining a similar game to help me out, please send me a PM.

I believe nobody is lynched; that's generally a disadvantage for the villagers/townsfolk/roses/good guys, because the bad guys get to see how the votes pan out and can plot and stuff.

My thought for a tie was to try a sort of run-off election -- have a second vote with only the tied individuals up for voting.  If that doesn't work, then we may go to the no one being lynched option.

And if there's enough demand for one of the new setting ideas (pirates, Salem witch hunt, or Robin Hood), then maybe I'll switch the Roses or the Bootleggers over to that theme instead.  We'll see how it goes.  :)
