”You know, there’s so much fun you can have when you realize that the entire world is a giant toyroom.” - Artemis O'Neill

VesCorp was a private medicine distribution firm, formed in the 90’s from funds pooled in by some sketchy private players in the pharmaceutical industry that focused solely on distribution of more run of the mill as well as newer drugs. The firm existed between the years 1987-1991 and operated in USA and Canada before vanishing away completely after 1992.

The reality was, the people behind them were some of the most prominent weapons manufacturers as the race for new weapons in coming ages was set to begin whilst maintaining a legal front as medical distribution. One of their most prominent projects was developing futuristic human weapons upon unleashing the potential of the human DNA and mutations that can occur among them.

They developed a drug called Ephemerol. Broadly prescribed to pregnant women for stress during pregnancy. Eventually phased out on account of more effective medicine, the drug was prescribed to several women during the specific period. When the children of women who had taken the drug during pregnancy started to grow up, around 15-20 percent of them began to show extraordinary intellect, ability to solve problems and pattern recognitions. However, with that came a host of psychological side effects ranging from Obsessive Personality Disorder, Schizophrenia, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Psychopathy among numerous others.

As these individuals grew up because of mutations during pregnancy they were bestowed with wide range psychic powers ranging from cyberpathy, telekinesis, mind control and so forth.

This in turn led to these incredibly gifted individuals embarking upon vicious acts of violence, at times out of confusion at times willingly for which no answers could be found. VesCorp knowing the project had backfired erased all there was to erase and no such drug ever existed as far as official records are concerned and with that, the Cleaners employed by VesCorp have been systematically wiping out all these children born to women who were administered the drug whom they have dubbed as Scanners.

As time has gone on VesCorp has gotten rid of one Scanner after another and now only few of them remain alive over the world.

Artemis O’Neill is one such Scanner. Born in 1990 to Barry O’Neill and Janet O’Neill, Artemis was raised in relative isolation on a farm, making it difficult to notice her mutations in childhood. However, she showed exceptional intellect, graduating far before others and went to University when she truly discovered her abilities upon coming in vicinity of a larger population and with that, she discovered the true extent of what she was blessed with.

She has outlived most of the compatriots as her powers have continued to evolve over the time, becoming one of the most powerful Scanners to emerge from the program. Unlike so many others, what drives her is not insane hunger for power that makes them reveal themselves or go for schemes which Artemis finds thoroughly pointless. On the contrary she’s a narcissist, hedonist and a sadist who enjoys manipulating others for her personal amusement.

Over the years she has come into contact with numerous obstacles including other Scanners whom she has disposed off, constantly drifting from one place into another. Now she finds herself walking in the town of Bella Vista, a town largely populated by wealthy people looking for an escape. She loves the sunny weather, the pristine beaches, is amused by the quirky locals and their superstitions, the laid back pace of life.

But none of it will remain the same by the time she would walk out of it.

Potential character options for my partner are:

The Loyal Follower: This can be someone who wants to be part of the small time cult that she sets up for her personal amusement in the town. Potentially an outsider who is transfixed by the subliminal messages and would do anything for their deity.

VesCorp Cleaner: Someone contracted by VesCorp to hunt Artemis down after previous attempts have failed. A person who specializes in taking out Scanners, a mercenary looking for ultimate thrill etc. Alternatively they could be leading a team who are doped up on a variant of Ephemerol that’s being tested again but on adults this time round.

The Lover: Someone whom Artemis picks to be her mate and with psychological traits she deems compatible with numerous psychological disorders she has. Will probably end up being destroyed eventually in some nasty scheme of hers.

Another Scanner: Potentially a Scanner who either wants to kill Artemis or comes looking for her to recruit her in yet another scheme. Presents prospect of some massive Scanner showdown!

GM: If you wish, you control the universe for Artemis. In this case, I would be more than happy to share some load of NPC's and such to craft a rich and compelling world with you.

These are the basic ideas. There’s more I can expand upon with potential partners. These stories will definitely be extreme and there will be good bit of humiliation, violence, gore and darker themes but at the same time I would like to stress that the story isn't solely about that but an exploration of twisted and warped mentality that a Scanner can possess and how this sudden and unforeseen evolutionary step from Homo Sapien to Homo Superior can affect the surrounding world. Whilst the location is US, for the story, it can easily be tweaked into Canada, UK, France or Spain. Each of these present unique possibilities.

Please PM me if you would like to discuss something. I request you not to post in this thread. Thanks.
