After the days work had finally came to an end all he wanted was a hot meal, and to go home and put his feet up with a ice-cold beer. Walking down the streets of Tokyo it was obvious that he was a foreigner; he stood at a healthy 6’2 almost towering over most of the people that walked with him. He had heard from a neighbor of a good restaurant down the street, he decided today was the day he was going to try it out for the first time.

Walking into the restaurant, the smells of fresh sushi and rice hit him, making his stomach growl in anticipation of the meal he was about to have. He hadn’t had the privilege of eating here before, since he had just moved to Tokyo from New York. His suit screamed money, as he was shown to his seat he looked around, his eyes falling on her. She was waiting on a table near where he was sat; he could only hope that she was going to be his waitress.

Opening up the menu, he looked at the choices making his decision quickly to just go with the special they had on the board when he walked in, squid soup and rice. He sets the menu to the side his cool blue eyes fell on her once again, running a hand through his dark brown hair that falls slightly into his eyes as the styling products have worn out from the days work and constantly running his fingers through his hair. As she approached he smiles.

It had been a normal day for Moriko Tsuki at the little restaurant she worked at. The regulars came in for lunch like always ordering the same thing as always. She knew most of them by name, or made up names that she choose for them. The little old lady who never talked, she always ordered the tuna. Then there was the young rich guy who owned a business at the end of the street, he always tipped larger than anyone else that came to the place.

But today was different, the bell on the door rang as a tall man entered with a smile on his face. He was obviously foreign and she noticed right away, he looked American, but no one could be sure. He sat down at a table to the side of the one she was currently waiting on. Brushing her dark hair aside from her face she glanced over at him. He was pretty nice looking for a foreigner, but she quickly turned back to the table she was at when they began to order.

Taking the orders from the couple she had been waiting on to the chef, she quickly hurried over to the foreign man's table and pulled out her notepad. Her parents had told her right before she left to always respect Americans because they had won the war, and be as nice as possible. She didn't really believe it mattered anymore, but they were her parents and she would listen to them. She looked to him with a smile and began, "Kobanwa, may I take your order." she said in the best english she had, she was learning it in the community school and was getting pretty good.

Trying not to watch her as she darted back and forth was hard. She had caught his eye and now he was finding it hard to take them off from her. He found him self wondering if her hair was as soft as it looked when she brushes it off from her face, his gaze meeting with hers for that brief span of time. He had to remind himself not to stare.

His eyes wandered over her face as she approached. The slight joy from realizing that she was going to be his waitress seemed to just creep up from his stomach into his throat. When she spoke English, he was slightly surprised; most everyone spoke some English but most chose to speak Japanese. Clearing his throat, he nodded. “Yes, I would like to order water and the special, unless you have something else that you would recommend?”

He smiled once again up at her as he folded the menu back up and handed it to her.

She smiled as he began to talk to her and she actually understood what he was saying. Her teacher said it would be hard to understand but it was actually quite east to understand. Nodding to him as she spoke she wrote down what he wanted and then smiled. "Actually I would recommend you get the Eel, it is the freshest we have today." Moriko said to him in somewhat of a whisper, she didn't know why but she was trying to keep there conversation of what he was having like a secret.

Waiting for his response he looked at his somewhat of a muscular frame. She had no idea that foreigners looked this way. They were so much bigger than the average man that came into the restaurant. Looking over to her co-worker at the cash register she noticed that her friend was mouthing something in japanese. "Go on, talk to him." she mouthed. Moriko shook her head quickly at turned back to the man with a frightened look as if he saw what just happened.

He nods “Well then I will take some of the Eel also.” Seeing the smile spread on those lovely lips actually brings a bit of a sparkle to his eyes. He suddenly has the urge to run his thumb over the soft petals of her lips. He enjoyed the sound of her speaking to him in English, he hadn’t had many English conversations since he moved here.

A slight grin comes over his face as the co-worker mouths for her to talk to him. His Japanese was excellent, and he could understand what she was saying, he puts a bit of a confused look on his face though not wanting to embarrass the waitress. “Is something wrong?” He has to keep himself from grinning as she looks a bit frightened.

She looked at him, changing her expression to a smile and began to back away and turn. "No nothing at all." she barely got out because of the embarrassment. Walking up to the chef she smiled and handed him the ticket. "Special and some Eel. Make it quick, he is a foreigner." she stated and walked over to her station while she wasn't waiting tables. She grabbed a glass and poured some water into it with ice. Taking a deep breath she began to walk over to his table once again feeling better because she thought he didn't know what was going on. "There you go." she smiled and gave him the water and quickly walked away to her friend at the register.

"Why did you have to do that?" she exclaimed in a low voice.
"What are you talking about, you obviously like the way he looks, and you always told me you wanted to marry a foreigner." her friend told her.
"So, that doesn't mean you have to make it obvious." she whined and shook her head and sat in the chair at her station. Moriko was having a debate inside her head, whether she should look at him or not. Shaking her head at what her friend did, she quickly looked up to see if he was looking over toward her or not.

As she brings the water back to his table he gives her another smile “Thank you” his fingers brush hers ‘accidentally’ as he takes the water from her. He watches her from the corner of his eye as she skirts over to where the provoking co-worker is. He lets him self chuckle under his breath as he sips the water.

He tries to look as if he isn’t listening as she walks over there, he almost feels guilty for eves dropping, but he was wondering what the opinion was. They made it difficult as they talked in hushed tones, but he was able to catch a few words. His eyes wander over to where they are, as looks up she would catch him watching her, but his phone begins to vibrate in his pocket, and he looks away quickly. Taking it out to see who is calling him, he is almost relieved as he sees it is someone he can just ignore for now, he sends the call to voice mail and sets the phone by his hand as he waits for his meal to come.
