Re Z L

Looking to gauge some interest for an admittedly more complex Pathfinder game that I'm calling "Gunsmoke Golarion" to borrow a name from one of the inspirations for the idea. This draws inspiration from things like Trigun, Mad Max, Fallout, and could perhaps best be described as a mash-up of Golarion with Dark Sun's Athas (note: magic is not restricted in this game like it would be in the Dark Sun setting, all classes function as normal). The basic premise and details are:

WHO — The game will revolve around an experienced group of adventurers, mercenaries, pirates, scavengers... The actual dynamics of the group is up to the players. The key is that the group of PCs know one another reasonably well and have some history with one another. The group size would be up to 6-7 characters, possibly with an NPC or two depending on how the group is organized (think hirelings).

WHAT — The game will be a semi-guided sandbox game. The start of the game will throw everyone into a job they've already taken on, but after that things will open up. If you want to build up your mercenary/adventuring company you can do that, if you want to explore the world you can do that, if you want to figure out what happened to the world you can do that. While the level is capped at 6 this is still what I would call a high-powered, high-fantasy game.

WHEN — The game is set about 200 years into Golarion's future. Approximately 200 years ago something happened that caused the planet's resources to begin to dry up. Mines stopped yielding ores, crops started to die, once-fertile soil turns to sand, rivers and lakes dry up... Golarion now is little more than a desert world, though there are some tenacious jungles that remain, savannahs, and arid stony grounds. Firearms will be common (with a few minor changes). Despite the name of the game you don't have to use guns, but they are something that will be available for everyone depending on their proficiencies.

WHERE — As mentioned the game will begin with a job that you all have taken on, which makes where we start very flexible. My initial thought is to start in what would originally have been the River Kingdoms, but where we start (and where we go) could be almost anywhere.

WHY — Individual and group motivations could be all over the place. A lot of weird things have happened in the past 200 years, perhaps you're interested in figuring out why that happened, maybe you just want to make money, maybe you're looking for something. I just would ask that they be cohesive within the group. Two individual motivations don't need to be the same, but they shouldn't directly oppose one another (ex. one wants to abolish all slavery, the other wants amass a group of slaves, or something like that). You don't necessarily need to have anything in mind for your character's motivation, and it doesn't have to be huge, it's just food for thought.

HOW — The game will be using a lot of unique rules. Basically levelling is capped at 6 (and everyone will begin at level 6). Instead of levelling up the traditional way you'll be gaining feats as you gain experience. On top of that as play progresses you'll unlock the Mythic Tiers as well. Mythic Tiers are gained through unique trials which you can either seek out specifically, or simply uncover as I secretly throw them at you. Your characters will also be Gestalts which is a combination of two classes into one, taking the best of both (ex. the higher of the two class's hit points). Why am I doing it this way? A couple reasons. Encounters may not be straightforward and I want everyone to have options available to them to contribute in ways aside from just combat. For example someone might need to use Knowledge Engineering, or Disable Device to weaken a monster that is otherwise invulnerable. Another reason is to keep magic from becoming too overwhelmingly powerful which makes encounter design much more difficult and can make some characters feel less useful to a situation. I'm also trying to make things like crafting magical items more accessible.

SMUT — This will be more story driven, I'll likely set up a side thread for more intimate encounters. In the main thread we'll likely fade-to-black to keep the action rolling, and if desired the fade-to-black scene can continue in the side thread. So, if you want to make a super-sultry, sexy character feel free, seduction is certainly a way encounters can go, and I'll try and make sure you can have your cake and eat it too  ;)

The game world is very different, and it's worth mentioning that deities will be strangely silent throughout (barring strange circumstances). Many of the old major cities still exist to one degree or another. There are a large number of tribal groups as well. Despite all these changes classes all function normally, magic works the same, divine magic works the same, etc.

Lastly, while this has a lot of rules going on, and is a bit different from the typical Pathfinder game, I'm welcome to having people that are newer to the Pathfinder rules join up.

If you're interested just let me know, and if you have any questions feel free to ask!  ;D

And to close, have some Brom art:

Character Submission Criteria

To submit a character for consideration you do not need to complete a full character sheet. The only info I will require is as follows:

  • Name
  • Race
  • Classes
  • Brief personality
  • Brief description
  • Brief character history
  • Any additional important info you wish to include

The world has changed a lot and some of that information is below, but if you're having trouble figuring out a character history just let me know and we can work through it together, just have a basic idea of what you want it to be like first.

Here's a template that you can use to put everything together (not all of it needs to be filled out, just cover the details mentioned above):

Character Creation and Setting Info

Character Creation

Level: 6

Stats: 25 Point Buy

HP: Max level 1, half + 1 all others (example, a character with D8 hit dice would gain 8 Hit Points at first level and 5 (D8/2 = 4; +1 = 5) for each following level) add Constitution as normal

Wealth: 20,000 gold, no more than 5000 on any one single item; you may craft your own items at a 10% discount if you have the requisite feats to do so

Traits: 2 (campaign specific traits are open as well, but may need to be modified, ask before taking them), note the Adopted trait grants you a racial trait of your choice which does not take up an additional trait

Drawbacks: 1 at most, which will give you an additional trait, Oracle curses may be taken as a drawback but they grant none of their beneficial effects

Skills: Background Skills are in play, additionally the Unchained Skill Unlocks are being used.

Gestalt: Characters will be gestalts, which basically means that they levelled up two classes simultaneously. The general rules can be found here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm

Third Party Material: Anything from Dreamscarred Press is good (Psionics, including mythic psionics, path of war, etc.). The fan-made Beguiler conversion is fine as well (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6bKY5cuGjh9VFA1OF8xVmtqWjA/edit?resourcekey=0-m32wZf5KWlLzoUlbQwmB6A).

Character Advancement

Mythic 6: Levelling stops at 6, so everyone is already at “maximum” level. Experience is still gained, and Mythic tiers will be gained during play. Every 8000 experience gained grants the character a new feat. They still need to meet the prerequisites for these feats. Special feats have also been added for things like class features. Skill feats have also been changed slightly (see house rules below).

Class Feats: Characters may take these feats after reaching maximum level (level 6). These feats unlock the higher level class features for whatever class(es) you have. For example a sixth level rogue could gain a feat that increases their sneak attack from +3d6 to +4d6. After acquiring 7 of these class feats a character can take a class feat that unlocks that class's pinnacle ability. All 7 of these class feats must be for the same class. Note that some feats (like Extra Rogue Talent) are effectively the same as these feats and are included in this category.

Prestige Feats: Similar to Class Feats, characters can take these feats to gain the class features from Prestige classes that they meet the prerequisites for.

Mythic Tiers: Characters will unlock Mythic Tiers in this game and can gain all 10 of the tiers through play. Mythic Tiers are not unlocked through experience, instead they are unlocked through trials. Players may seek out these trials actively if they want, but they will also be secretly included throughout normal play. These are generally more difficult encounters, but are not necessarily combat encounters. When Mythic Tiers are unlocked their feats may be purchased as normal as described above.

Firearms

We're using a mix between the "Commonplace Guns" and "Guns Everywhere" rules. The more basic weapons are simple weapons, and the slightly better versions are martial weapons. Prices have been adjusted across the board, and some statistics have also been altered. Furthermore, the Misfire rule doesn't cause guns to explode except as noted for the Blunderbuss and Culverin. A Misfire imparts the Broken condition to the weapon, which can be repaired by anyone with at least 1 rank in a Craft skill that could reasonably be expected to repair metal parts or at least 1 rank in Knowledge (Engineering). Gunslingers gain the Gun Training class feature at level one and do not gain the Gunsmith class feature, Gunslingers are also always treated as if they meet the prerequisites to repair any firearm. It takes 1 hour to repair a firearm. I have removed some firearms that I felt were superfluous or didn't really fit. If for some reason you really want to use one that I've removed just let me know and I'll see what we can work out. All changes to firearms are reflected in the table below:

Notes:
Coat Pistol: Gain a +2 bonus on Sleight of Hand checks to conceal this weapon.
Dagger Pistol: This weapon can also be used as a dagger, if the weapon misfires the dagger portion is also considered broken. Counts as a double weapon when it comes to enchanting it.
Blunderbuss: The Blunderbuss is designed to use whatever ammunition is put into it, which can include anything from rocks and nails, to properly sized balls of lead. It fires either in a cone of 15 ft with loose ammunition, or with a range increment of 10 ft. A blunderbuss will explode if it misfires while it has the broken condition, damaging everything within 10 feet.
Culverin: The Culverin is effectively a portable cannon. Firing it without proper bracing imposes a -4 penalty on the attack roll and knocks the user prone. A culverin will explode if it misfires while it has the broken condition, damaging everything within 10 feet. Due to the amount of powder it requires and it's relatively rare use, there are no alchemical cartridges that will work in the Culverin.

Firearm Ammunition

Similarly the ammunition that guns use is more widely available. All guns have the ability to use doses of black powder and bullets or the alchemical cartridge variations (with the exception of the Culverin which requires much more powder to fire correctly). Typically alchemical cartridges are used since they're so readily available and raw black powder is typically only used in emergency situations (though most usually use raw powder in the case of the blunderbuss). Ammunition costs are 10% of what their normal costs are as shown here. Alchemical cartridges do not increase misfire chances.

House Rules

Elephant-in-the-Room Feat Taxes: We're going to use the changes to some of the feats described in the Elepehant In The Room feat tax adjustments. You can get the feat changes here: https://mammothisland.itch.io/elephant (it's a pay what you want download link)

Some important changes for people to be aware of, Weapon Finesse doesn't exist, it's just a trait that finesse-able weapons have now, Weapon Focus applies to weapon groups instead of single weapons.

Skill Feats: Feats that only grant bonuses to skills have been adjusted. Skill Focus only ever grants a +3, but it also grants the effect of a skill unlock (for example taking Skill Focus Perception with 3 ranks of perception grants the first perception unlock; taking the same feat with 5 ranks in perception grants the second perception unlock). Likewise feats that grant a bonus to two skills (such as the Acrobatic feat) grants a skill unlock for one of the two skills, chosen when the feat is taken. Remember that all skill bonuses from feats are untyped and stack with all other bonuses. The Mythic versions of these feats will grant another ability unlock, so a character with 6 ranks of Acrobatics, Skill Focus (Acrobatics), the Acrobatic Feat, and Mythic Skill Focus (Acrobatics) could have all four skill unlocks for Acrobatics.

Crafting: You do not need to be a spellcaster to craft items, but you do still need to have the correct feats. Requirements to craft items may be bypassed by collecting special materials. For example, a spell that needs to be used for the creation process can be replaced by a scroll for that spell, or perhaps a part of a creature that uses that spell as a spell-like-ability, or perhaps a rare gemstone.

Bonus Spells per Day: The bonus spells received per day for having a high ability score are double of what is shown on this chart: https://aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?Name=Determine%20Bonuses&Category=Generating%20Ability%20Scores

Metamagic: Metamagic feats will be adjusted on an as-needed basis, generally I will probably half the normal increase that it would normally take. Additionally bonus spells granted from high ability scores above 3rd level can be used to cast Metamagic-adjusted spells (for example a wizard with 20 intelligence could cast an Empowered Fireball even though it would count as a 5th level spell).

Questions and Setting Info

But what about spell levels above 3rd level? Learnable/castable spells are capped at 3rd level. Other methods of using higher level spells exist only as powerful magic items. This is mostly to keep magic from becoming completely overwhelming and to make encounters a little easier to design in (hopefully) interesting ways.

Gods? It’s uncertain if the Gods were cut off from Golarion exactly because of the event that happened 200 years ago, but since then they have been strangely silent. Extraplanar creatures have also been less common than before as well, those few that have been around either don’t know what’s going on or aren’t telling. Regardless of this Divine and summoning magic is unaffected.

What happened 200 years ago? Nobody really knows, and the exact date isn't even well agreed-upon. It is generally referred to as "The Wasting". Resources began drying up at an exponential rate, some regions went from habitable farmland into wastelands or deserts over the course of a few months. In some areas people became inexplicably ill and died within months. Rivers dried up, or became poisonous, whole forests withered away, mines stopped yielding ore and gems... Even the oceans became more dangerous, and dead fish began to start washing up on shore. Of course people adapted and continued on as best they could.

Races? Races remain mostly unchanged. Shorter-lived races don’t really know anything about the world of Golarion pre-Wasting aside from old stories. Longer-lived races may have elders who were alive to watch the world change over time. The races that existed in main cities haven’t changed a great deal, but secluded racial groups have undergone some changes—especially in areas that were particularly devastated by the Wasting.

Dwarves abruptly shut the doors to their underground settlements around 30-40 years into the Wasting. Anyone outside wasn’t let in, including any Dwarves that had been outside the city. Since then there’s been no contact with any of them, and reportedly when people tried to dig past the door they found that the tunnels had also been intentionally collapsed.

Gnomes have had some of the hardest changes. Bleaching has increased at a tremendous rate, which has made their life expectancy about the same as a halfling. The eldest of Gnomes are usually insane, which is the only way to truly keep the Bleaching from occurring. Rarely some Gnomes will survive becoming Bleached (see the alternate racial traits). Tribes of Bleachlings aren’t common, but are a threat in the wild. While they are largely emotionless seeming, they are extremely cruel and cannibalistic. They eerily stalk prey, and passionlessly kill them in gruesome ways before eating the remains.

Elves have become less common in the world, the majority of them remaining around the Mordant Spire. Some suspect that most of them have left Golarion, or at least tried, similar to what had happened prior to the Earthfall catastrophe. Many elves have become pirates that sail along the western coast sometimes going inland to raid for supplies. Rumors persist of Desert Elves and Jungle Elves that survive in the deep deserts and deep jungles. If they exist they are extremely reclusive. Meanwhile the Drow have been mostly trapped underground following the events with the Dwarves.

Halflings have been largely unchanged by the events of the Wasting. They have lived alongside humans throughout the years and have formed something of a symbiotic relationship with them. Where you can find humans you can almost always find halflings as well.

Other races still exist but were generally small in number originally, what was once rare is now almost unheard of in some regions. One last important group to make note of is the Fey who have become extremely hostile, the few remaining jungles are extremely dangerous for this very reason, but they may also be found in bogs or in deep deserts or the great glacier of the north.

Gonna plant a flag of interest for this one. What sources are allowed? I assume first party sources, right, or are any 1pp disbarred?

All Paizo material is allowed, I'm also planning to allow the Beguiler fan-made adaptation, and Dreamscarred Press material. I did consider the Spheres of Power material as well, but I'm not overly familiar with it, and I think the gestalt helps with the flexibility that the Spheres usually offers.

Does DSP include Path of war as well, then? Or just psionics?

All DSP material, so the Psionics and Path of War, and any other little things they have added :)

Sick.

Thinking a Warlord (Path of War), and... Something. Kinda torn between a steelfist commando warlord for a wuxia/martial arts feel to the character or a Desperado for a more rooty tooty point and shooty cowboy feel, then.

Maybe a brutal slayer stalker x something, as well.

Me me!  Pick me!  :)

May I play?

So, is firearm technology still early firearms?  If so I might want to combine a Musket Master with an arcane caster or psion.  I'll go divine instead of we have a shortabe.

But if we've gotten into percussion cap technology--with revolvers and lever action repeaters--then I can get decent use out of a gun without needing the gunslinger class.

I don't have much experience with path of war, but I've noticed they have a fun option for a finesse fighting katana girl:

Themes that catch my attention:
--Someone with an interest in restoring the environment.
--Someone with interest in restoring contact with the gods.
--An engineer type who sees the world's current hardships as a problem to be overcome with intelligence and ingenuity.

It'll have some of the Advanced Firearms (notably the revolver, rifle, and shotgun), as well as a selection of the Early Firearms. All firearms will take the alchemical cartridges, but you can still use the raw powder and bullets in a pinch. Advanced firearms are available as martial weapons, and I'm still figuring out how I want to handle some of the Early Firearms in terms of proficiency, but there will probably be a couple of them that count as Simple weapons.

These are definitely all themes that could be explored :)

Technology isn't too far advanced at this point, aside from firearms. You'll run into some forms of steam engines here and there. Things like trains don't exist for various reasons, mostly resource scarcity and few "countries" wanting to work together to help make it happen.

Pathfinder is basically an adapted form of the old DnD 3.5 edition, so if you're familiar with that at all it's not too hard to pick up. Otherwise I don't mind helping answer questions along the way :)

Yup, basically it's the Pathfinder version of Epic 6 :)

Was waiting to see how much interest there would be before I put all the character creation stuff together, but it looks like there's enough interest to move forward with that...

I'll post up more stuff tonight/tomorrow with all the character building info.

I don't need to see a full sheet, just a synopsis of the character with two of the classes you'll be going with and maybe any example feats you feel might be relevant. I'll put a better description of that together when I add the rest of the info!

Aribeth Amakiir and I are working together on our characters to see if we can build up a strong synergy and maybe a little shared backstory.

Let me know if this is too light hearted for the theme.

A few generations several samurai from Tian Xia and their wives were exiled to Inner Sea Region.  They were all warrior-poets, among the most elegant and artistically inclined of samurai, and were able to make their way as entertainers rather than sell their swords to an unworthy employer.  They passed their skills and blades to their heirs.

Daughter of this lineage and a psionically gifted fortune teller, Kotone grew up in a group of traveling players who braved the dangerous wastes to carry news and entertainment from settlement to settlement.  Actress, dancer, and especially singer, Kotone excelled in both artistry and martial prowess.  She had her mother's psionic power as well--gifts that came to her most fully when she used her will to create sound.

At first, Kotone was satisfied with this life.  There was certainly no shortage of adventure in traveling from city to city in these dangerous times.

  Then she met a girl...

Aribeth Amakiir and I are working together on our characters to see if we can build up a strong synergy and maybe a little shared backstory.

Let me know if this is too light hearted for the theme.

The world itself is a bit on the grittier side, but I don't mind a little light-hearted fun :)

Looking over what you've got...

It looks pretty good, it fits in pretty well with what my plans for the first encounter is going to be as well.

I'll add this too: since The Wasting there has been absolutely 0 contact with the Tian Xia continent, which might be of some interest to her, but that's up to you.

Oh, that's interesting.  :)

(By the way, please tell me we're using the background skill rules!)

How long ago was the wasting?  A century?

So does that mean i'm more or less in and it wouldn't be a waste of time to build my character?

I am interested in giving this a go. I just want to make sure are hybrid classes allowed?

SilkenVenom

I'm interested in this. I've not normally been a big fan of Pathfinder (often found it too bloated and bogged down in rules and mechanics), so I don't have very much knowledge of it, but this idea interests me enough to give it another try because Gestault is kind of a cool idea I haven't gotten to play around with much.

Right now, I'm thinking Slayer/Inquisitor for what I've been looking at.

This is also what I'm curious about, I admit I was thinking Hunter/Inquisitor as well (Though I might switch inquisitor so as to avoid potentially stepping on SilkenVenom's toes), but if Hybrid classes aren't available I'm sure I can come up with another idea too.

Edit: mostly thinking this class combo as I'd rather not bring in Path of War if no one else is using it, for the sake of ease.

Marie Reynolds

Lol, Slayer is looking popular. I was looking at a Slayer/Brawler combo myself. If they are accepted.

I'm still looking to accept up to 6-7 players, at the moment I see 7 people have expressed interest. So while I haven't officially accepted anyone in yet, unless I get more interest all of them would be added in. Still I don't have a deadline in mind yet, but probably at least another week for people.

That is correct, so for a Slayer after you gain 8000 experience you could gain the Stalker or Quarry class features (as examples, those aren't the only two options).

You can take them for any class that you have, so if you're a Rogue|Paladin gestalt you can gain Class Feats from either of those classes (as well as any Prestige Classes you would normally qualify for)

I'm actually not too familiar with the Elephant in the Room changes, let me take a look at it and I'll get back to you

No bloodline restrictions as far as I'm concerned, some of them may be a little weirder than others based on the setting, but nothing is really off the table as far as I'm concerned

So I can't find this in the srd on background skills. If you take a skill like linquistics as a background skill are you treated as trained in it and do you get the +3 to it as a class skill or no.

Yes, background skill points are identical to regular skills, they are just only spent on background skills. The regular skill points can be spent on whatever you want, where the background points you get can only be spent on those background skills.

I'll add that to the first post, but here's a little bit here for everyone else:

You can get the feat changes here: https://mammothisland.itch.io/elephant (it's a pay what you want download link)

Name: Aphashe
Race Human
Classes: Savage Technologist (Paizo, Barbarian Variant) / Bard

Brief personality: Equal parts cynic and jester, she is a reflection of the dangerous world around her-- harsh, driven, and not without a spark of life and a jagged, stark beauty.  Sometimes it seems she's petulant, immature in her selfishness and abrasive humor, but her wastelander sense, survival instincts, sharp wit and foresight often surprise her allies and enemies.  Loneliness has taken its toll on her, and the tribes she's been chosen into over her short years have either betrayed her or been taken away, leaving pain and anger to fill the void where companionship and family should reside.  Still, she seems irrevocably drawn to others, finding lost causes, potential victims, or desperate hopes despite her attempts to remain aloof and uninvolved, and she risks her life for others again and again-- sometimes succeeding, sometimes not.

Brief description: Slender woman with taut muscles, looking older than her 20 years but still able, attractive, and fit, with skin the color of untanned doe skin and jet-black, wavy hair of considerable length-- hair she braids and typically tucks under a hood, headwrap, or scarf. Her skin is shockingly pale despite the constant exposure to sand and sun.

Brief character history: Rural communities stick together to survive against predators of the thieving, meat-eating, or slaving variety; she was raised in one of these hardened communities, a walled village of sandstone, dunes, burros, arrows, metal-tasting water, and hard-living hearts.  She learned to defend the village, to serve the village, and that one day she'd be old enough to marry a village boy and have village children and live a whole village life unless she was killed, captured and enslaved, or eaten by a sandworm.  Kids accept the reality with which they are presented-- and she had no idea what plans awaited her, or what creature was actually feeding in the underbelly of this village... that she was walking the surface of a spider's pit waiting, biding its time, until it was ready to turn her to its purpose.  But before that plan could come to fruition, a war-band arrived-- this one, unlike many before it-- was like a small army, mustered, organized, and primed for settlements such as this.

The raiders demonstrated their experience in sieging such reinforced fort-villages-- sprawling, hopeful bastions with stout but over-extended walls, scattered defenders, and hard hearts, but weakened at the suffering of their loved ones.  With cunning and military discipline, her home succumbed to blood and fire and was ground into the dirt, only to be raised into subjugation as a waystation for a raider gang that continued conquering unregulated territory.  Her surviving family was split into various roles-- some soldiering, some serving in other ways, but in labor, battle, and humiliation she would spen years in chains before stealing her liberty-- more than she had ever known-- and all the terrors and wonders that came with it.

Taking advantage of inter-clan warfare among contending slaver groups, she and a few others broke their chains and set out as fugitives for the nearest city, her only possessions being salvage from dead guards and a bone flute she had learned to play-- an item that protected her, endeared her to the slavers for her entertainment value in a way that sometimes spared her from being forced to perform other 'entertainments'.  For months, they they thrived in the deadlands thanks to the local knowledge and survival skills they'd honed since childhood.  But in the city, everything was utter hell... begging, robbing, murdering, gangs, guards-- everything was stacked against them.  Their numbers decimated again, the surviving refugees returned to the wild, the weakest died off one by one, and the few remaining trickled away.  One day, as she watched her last compatriot walk off to join traveling monks in their pilgrimage, she realized that perhaps it was best she be alone-- for only after losing the last remnant of her old life was she free to build her new one.

Any additional important info you wish to include: I dropped the Dhampir factor from draft one and changed up the image and description.  I'm quite happy with this version, and I think it's ready for a mechanics review if you approve of the concept when you're at that stage.  Linked sheet.

Another question: Do we get 2 ABI's at 4th level (one for each class), as well as 2 feats at levels 1, 3 and 5?

Also, I'm a bit confused as to this background skill vs. adventuring skill thing. Can you clarify that?

Ixy

Hi-- I'm not trying to overstep, so I'm sorry if it seems that way, but I'd like to be of help if I can.

They just get 1 ABI at level 4.  With Gestalt, you receive the best benefit of the class where the two conflict, both benefits where they don't conflict, and the basic "level-up" bonuses are just by level until you max out.

So, for example, HP: imagine a GESTALT rogue/fighter levels up...
-They take the higher die of their two classes, adding a d10 worth of hps instead of the d8 worth of points
-The same rogue/fighter takes the higher BAB of the two classes ... their BAB goes from +3 to +4, or +4 to +5, whatever the level appropriate is for fighter.  Cause fighter's is higher than rogue.
-Per PF rules, they get a bonus ability point at level 4, so they raise one ability by +1 for being a gestalt fighter/rogue at that step
-On other levels, they still get -FIGHTER- bonus feats where appropriate, but they also get rogue talents and bonuses at those levels.

It can make munchkins drool at the possibilities for min-maxing, but the real goal is to make a small group of characters much more versatile (and sure, stronger, so they can handle tougher and more diverse challenges).

(ninja-quick edit: this helped me... copypasta it and add a www.)  d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/gestaltCharacters.htm

(OH and a second, not-so-quick edit)
Background skills are those less-challenge-oriented skills; having the background skills rule included means you get some bonus skill points each level, but they can only be spent on Lores (which are new skills you can add to your sheet for VERY specific knowledges) or certain existing skills.  A helpful link for that is le here d20pfsrd.com/skills/background-skills/

Hello. I have to say this peaked my interested in the search. I wonder why! Anyhoo, never played path finder, in fact I've only recently started playing DND like two week ago, only had two sessions. Even if I can't play, keeping an eye on this would be fun. learning and all.

If it would be possible, playing Vash in this would be fun, considering Gunsmoke is his home. might need help translating Trigun lore about Vash to pathfinder races, class, feats, abilities and so on. I do have him translated to a dnd character pretty well. so that might help

Hallo! And welcome to E, seems you're pretty new :)

We're using a hefty amount of extra rules (or removing some other rules), so this is far from a vanilla Pathfinder experience, but if you're interested in learning I'm happy to help!

Which version of DnD have you played?

Also, I don't really mind taking some inspiration from Vash, but my preference would be to not simply clone the character from top to bottom--given the tone of the game I'd probably scale back his chaotic antics. But otherwise I wouldn't really have any problems with it :)

Would I be off-base that a good option for a somewhat-unstable cleric in this situation would be Pharasma? After all, there's no way prophecy predicted that Golarion would get turned into a dust bowl, and even if they're not answering the gods HAVE to be out there because the End of Days hasn't been triggered yet (Groetus I'm looking at you!).

I'd say Pharasma would be a good pick, some of her devotees could have potentially taken a rather...extreme turn and considered the world itself to have suddenly started dying, or has turned "undead" in a sense. Those sorts would probably be trying to bring about the actual end of the world, if they had their way. I'm not implying that you do this, just mentioning something that a Pharasma worshipper might know about.

The fact that "water" is one of her domains is also interesting to me ;)

Ana Field

RACE: Human
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY: Straight
AGE: 25
CLASSES: Rogue (Unchained)/Aegis (DSP psionics)
ALIGNMENT: Neutral Good

CHARACTER HISTORY: Ana Field was born in the small town of New Hope, in the land that was once called the River Kingdoms before the calamity. A quaint town where people try their best to live life. Ana’s parents were what amounted to town guards within the village, skilled with blades and doing their best to keep order in a world that had largely forsaken it. Born a bright and healthy young girl, Ana grew up to be both nimble and bright in her early years and grew to be a talented woman who showed a knack for combat… it was around puberty for her however that she learned of another talent she had. She could shape unseen matter into what amounted to a protective skin around herself, acting as a layer of protection and empowerment. While most saw the ability as a little strange, Golarion had become a strange place over the last two hundred years – few thought anything of it, really.

As the years passed, Ana felt a certain wanderlust growing in her. New Hope wasn’t really the type of town to attract trouble, which left her feeling languid. It was no surprise when she told her family she sought to leave the town and make a name for herself. She elected to leave with little to her name but a pouch of hard earned coin, the clothes and armor on her back, and a destination. The nearby city of Mournvale was the perfect place people looking to make a name for themselves, and it was there that Ana elected to join a small mercenary group to become a bounty hunter and general ‘problem solver’. Working odd jobs, taking down bandits, thugs, and ruffians – and in general looking to amass a name for herself has had its ups and downs, including the loss of her left eye in a particularly bad fight… But she has kept her spirit and desire to help others, albeit with a bit of guile and ruthlessness on her part.

PERSONAL GOALS: Ana has no direct or explicit goal, but being a woman inclined to aiding others, she hopes to make Golarion a bit more safe than it was before.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Ana’s a good person at heart, she can sometimes be a bit ruthless to her enemies and seemingly cold – but she has a strong sense of justice and morality. She has a detest of slavers and those who would abuse others of lower statuses, and can sometimes be a bit brash and act before truly thinking about something.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Ana’s a tall and athletic woman, standing around 5’10” or so abouts, with a body honed from both the blasted sands and battle. She’s seen a fair amount of scars from blades and claws, and has even lost her left eye in battle. With long blonde hair and a sea green eye, she keeps a striking disposition when not covered by her second skin. She prefers light armors and keeps a pair of Kukri on her person at all times unless disbarred from doing so.

ON/OFFs: She’s not really for sexual stuff, but this might become more filled out later.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Ana’s been out and about and has seen her fair amount of travel, would be happy to link some character histories up.  Also, the art I’m using for her is a personal commission so please do not take it for your personal use.

Latooni Subota

Also canonically, even in original timeline Golarion, she has a lot of priests that went nuts after Aroden died suddenly and fate began to get . . . wobbly. I'll pull some more in-depth details together and post it soon.

Urd Alvasdottir

RACE: Human (Ulfen)
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY: Confused
AGE: 18
CLASSES: Cleric/Ranger
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Neutral

CHARACTER HISTORY: Urd Alvasdottir is an anomaly out in the sands. She hails from a small settlement of people in the far north that (purportedly) were saved from the wasting that hit the world by taking refuge in an old ruin. In actuality it was a cult made up of faeblooded would-be bandit king and his conquests. He obviously long-since passed on, and the leadership of his camp moved down the line of his descendants, until a number of enterprising girls overthrew them. Urd . . . wasn't a part of that rebellious group.

Having grown up just a little bit wrong, she never was a popular girl amongst the group, beauty aside. She did not cope well with what was effectively a life of a slave before the rebellion, to say the least. Urd considered herself 'saved' by the discovery of an old book of prophecy buried away in a ruined passage of the dungeon, and ended up obsessed with it, eventually self-exiling herself to go on a 'vitally important quest' in Pharasma's name.

Since then she's been (seemingly) aimlessly wandering the wastes, trying to track down places and people listed in her book of prophecy. Contrary to popular belief every time she finds proof that a prophecy was incorrect she only becomes more convinced that she's on the right track! She's mainly known as 'that crazy preacher' to most, but her oddly helpful personality and ability to utilize healing magic helps bridge that gap a bit.

PERSONAL GOALS: 1: Investigate the Book of Prophecy to see if the various prophecies inside happened or not.
2: Find the source of the wasting that afflicts Golarion.
3: Find her goddess BECAUSE SHE HAS SO MANY QUESTIONS AAAAA

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Neurotic, Driven, Obsessive, Helpful, Caring, Confused, Faithful

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Urd is an abnormal woman of Ulfen blood, though that might be the influence of other humanoids in her bloodline after two centuries of intermarrying. She only stands at a mere 5 feet tall, with a slim and almost gaunt figure. Despite this she has all the 'correct pieces' of a delicate beauty. Long, wavy blonde hair. Hazel eyes. Pouty Lips. The works. Rather than a bombshell, she's the type of girl you want to protect . . . at least until she opens her mouth. Generally speaking she wears what she considers 'priestess' robes, even if they aren't particularly accurate to a true Pharasman priestess, along with gloves and sturdy boots.

ON/OFFs: Urd has no interest in the more brutal/gross aspects of sex. She has very little interest in sex herself in fact, due to her previous circumstances, so she'd be the one pursued rather than the one pursuing in any relationship. She does view men and women as equally attractive though.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: I kinda see her as a combination medic/explorer, albeit one who is clearly off-kilter. I could see her easily attaching herself to another PC because 'The book clearly says right here that so-and-so will do such-and-such and if I squint really hard it could mean you!' Honestly the 'Book of Prophecy' is basically just a nothing macguffin that the GM could use for totally unexpected plot hooks (We need to go this way because there's supposed to be a thing here I need to see!) or just an outlet for her (non-destructive) crazy. In essence she's a very helpful young lady to anyone she accompanies, just not a particularly sane one. Note when I say she's nuts, I'm not making a lolrandom-type, or backstabber. Urd is a good girl. :(

Imrae Naerth

RACE: Drow
GENDER:
SEXUALITY: Lesbian
AGE: 157
CLASSES: Slayer/Inquisitor
ALIGNMENT: Lawful Evil

CHARACTER HISTORY: Imrae was a member of a raiding party that had gotten caught out on the surface. While she wasn't born yet at the time of the Wasting, her parents and their companions were. Their raiding party had found themselves unable to find a way back to the Darklands after the dwarves shut their gates and many of the tunnels were collapsed. By the time she was born, the raiding party was much smaller, many of them killed over time. Eventually her mother separated from the group, raising her on traditional tales of their people, instilling traditional Drow values on her despite being trapped on the surface with nobody to see as an example of how the Drow should be. Then, one night, her mother vanished, leaving behind only an old book with blank pages.

She spent many years looking for her, traveling only at night and hiding during the day. The sunlight was not her ally. She eventually came to the city of Daggermark where she decided to remain, making a number of less-than savory contacts that were not at prejudiced as most others she met. She became involved in the Daggermark Poisoner's Guild, finding an enjoyment in alchemy. She took all manner of work, from the legal to the illegal; bounty hunting, scouting, scavenging, assassination, even rescuing kidnapping victims. If nothing else, the good deeds kept too many eyes from looking at her too closely. She spent several months in the undead city of Geb, learning from master black marketeers before returning to Daggermark.

PERSONAL GOALS:
1) Find an open entrance to the Darklands
2) Find her mother
3) Become a master necrotoxin brewer
4) Find a woman to take as her consort

PERSONALITY TRAITS:
-Arrogant
-Cautious
-Dry wit
-Ruthless
-Surprisingly loyal
-Night Owl

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Imrae is fairly tall and well build for an elf, around 5'10" in height with a noticeable amount of muscle definition. Her hair is stark white with contrasting obsidian skin tone. Eye are a pale red, almost looking gray depending on the angle of the light. Often wears dark clothes with hoods, particularly in places she is unfamiliar with as she doesn't know how they will treat her.

Does "Elephant in the Room" apply to the Mythic Weapon Finesse Feat?

What I'm thinking is that a proper technique to use a knife in the kitchen helps cut meat, vegetables, etc. without any additional use of strength.  Weapons with the finesse quality may have the same ability in combat?  (they do in 5e)  I'm not familiar with the Elephant in the Room rules.  Not sure if anyone can answer.

There is actually a normal feat that grants the same effect called Deadly Agility, it's one of the feats added by Dreamscarred Press in their Path of War module :)

You get bonuses to your ability scores at certain Mythic Tiers as well, every even tier you get a boost of +2

We're using a hefty amount of extra rules (or removing some other rules), so this is far from a vanilla Pathfinder experience, but if you're interested in learning I'm happy to help! Which version of DnD have you played?
I believe it's DND 5e. I've literally only played two sessions. I was told it's home brew, so it's not straight dnd5e. But so far, it's easy enough to figure out with help , take your turn, Roll dice, use action, rinse, repeat. I've based Vash off  Celestial, Protector, Aasimar, Paladin with an oath of redemption, but he uses cross bows and a dagger. However the DM is pretty cool and was like "yeah, if you wanna straight up play Vash in appearance and antics with guns, using the crossbow states for gun stats that works." my partner is playing Wolfwood in looks, but using dnd rules for a human barbarian berserker, and some how managed to adapt some weapon traits for Punisher.

As for path finder, I need to do a bit of research. I would be more than happy to adapt Vash, but I will need help I think. My brother is mailing me over his dnd stuff so an edition of pathfinder may be in there with any luck. How do you wish to communicate ? Feel free to PM, or please give me permission to PM you.  I don't want to be intrusive. I also have discord.

5e is quite a bit different from Pathfinder (which is an adaptation of DnD's older 3.5 edition). You can find all of the official rules and such here: https://aonprd.com/Default.aspx (we're using first edition)

One obvious fit would be the Gunslinger class https://aonprd.com/ClassDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Gunslinger so I'd probably start looking at that while doing your research :)

PM away if you like, and discord is fine as well!

Discord might be easier since it's more real-time.

I'll take a closer look at the newer character submissions later (I just happened to wake up in the middle of the night) but a brief look at them seems pretty good :)

AribethAmkiir

Aeleth Artorle

RACE: Half-Elf
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY: Pansexual
AGE: 22
CLASSES: Sorceress (Astral Bloodline) & Swashbuckler
ALIGNMENT: Lawful Neutral

CHARACTER HISTORY: The "good life"... when the world's broken, does such a thing even exist?  It was something her parents had talked about, from time to time, when she was little.  They'd lived on the outskirts of the village, back then.  Her father's "episodes" caused the other villagers to treat them with thinly veiled distrust.  Well... that and the fact they were half-breeds.  Things are supposed to get worse before they get better, right?  Or do they get worse before they get worse?  She was eleven when the villagers finally decided they'd had enough, forced her family out, and drove them into the uninhabitable wilds.  Her mother didn't last long, despite her father's "special" talents.  He exhausted himself protecting Aeleth, and she likely would've followed if not for dumb simple luck.

The group of traveling entertainers who found her nursed her back to health and adopted her.  They taught her how to dance, sing, and do tricks with a sword.  Even when her father's blood began to manifest a few years later, they didn't abandon her.  Years passed.  Aeleth learned as much as she could, but despite the troupe's friendly demeanor and open kindness, she still didn't quite belong.  There was training she couldn't participate in, knowledge forbidden to her, skills and techniques she was not meant to see or mimic.

It was in the town of Mournvale that Aeleth finally decided to take her leave and chart her own path.  Along with her best friend, she left the troupe and set out to make her own mark, earn fame, riches, and glory, and perhaps find that "good life" her parents' dreamed of.

PERSONAL GOALS: Grow rich and famous, and live the "good life".  Learn more about her bloodline.  Figure out if these dreams and visions that haunt her sleep, and waking moments, are real or just a malady. Uphold her own code.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Slow to trust, Fiercely Loyal, Devil-may care attitude, Hedonistic, Flamboyant, Adaptable, Adventurous, Protective

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: At 5'8" she's taller than the average human woman.  Lean and attractive, she moves with a dancer's fluid grace and a sword-woman's intent.  A mirthful smile and twinkle in her human-like eyes usually adorn her otherwise Elvish features.  Silver colored eyes and silver-blue hair mark her peculiar arcane lineage.  Her hair falls past her shoulders and covers her pointed human-sized ears.  She wears a somewhat fancy dress that hangs off her shoulders and has a slit to her hip, with pantaloons and knee-high boots underneath.  A belt at her thin waist holds her rapier upon the flare of her left hip.

ON/OFFs: Ons: Kindness; mystery; adventure and daring-do; glory, fame, and fortune; being seduced or doing the seducing; foreplay; consensual scenes; things that build.  See player's o/o's.  Offs: Slavers; hideous monsters or people; orcs; being outcast; being ignored; overly aggressive paramours; humiliation; toilet play; excessive pain; non-con scenes.  See player's o/o's.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: She has the Astral bloodline which could allow the GM to give us plot hooks, or McGuffins, or other types of insight to the world and what's lead up to the current predicament.  She doesn't put particular weight into these "visions/dreams" - they drove her father crazy, after all.  Have a lose tie with Muse's character, if we both were accepted, the characters would have a partially shared history.  Also, added the Mournvale reference, to give a possible "in" to Changingsaint's char.  While Aeleth is "slow to trust", I'd plan for her to have a fierce loyalty to the party and have trust already formed with the other characters by the start of the game.

Hey Re z L, So how would a bounty hunter and survivalist fit in this campaign. Also if this is the river kingdoms how  has the terrain and fauna and animals in their have changed or adapted.

So I have held off but I wanted to say that I am interested in this. Usually I avoid things that use systems as Most of them I have not played with. Pathfinder is one I have not played with outside the Kingmaker game. I will say though I do know it was based of D&D 3.5 which is part of why I do like the system (3.5 will always be my favorite. ) and if there is still room would not mind making a character.

Never mind seems you may have hit the number you were looking for and  I am not about to compete with people that  seem to know this system better than me >.<  .

Aqua

RACE: Undine (mostly human)
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Pansexual
AGE: early 20's
CLASSES: Water Dancer Monk / Spirit Guide Oracle
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good

CHARACTER HISTORY: Aqua's past is something shrouded in mystery, even to himself. He is unable to recall most of his early life save for fleeting visions and glimpses in his dreams, usually of the sea and a place deep beneath it. In fact Aqua isn't even his true name, but one given to him by the caravan who found him washed up on shore years ago. There was little hint as to his origin, at least not that they could make sense of, and the boy's lost memories and apparent inability to speak made it a seemingly impossible task. Still the traveling band were a kindly sort, and despite not knowing anything about him they accepted Aqua into their family. They taught him to read, write, sign, and even helped him discover his supernatural abilities, including a near miraculous affinity towards water.

Of course all good things end eventually, especially in such a harsh world. Only a few months after Aqua was taken in, the caravan was assaulted by raiders. All but a lucky few escapees were taken captive by the bandits, Aqua included, and taken as slaves. Aqua proved to be a highly sought after commodity, as the ability to conjure near limitless stores of fresh water was near priceless in such a desolate environment. He was quickly separated from his family, and spent the next few years changing hands between different slavers and warlords, before finally being liberated by his current party. While they had initially humored the idea of reselling him, they ultimately decided to keep him around, eventually becoming a proper member of the group.

PERSONAL GOALS:
-Regain his memories/discover his origins
-Undo his curse/affliction
-Track down old members of his caravan

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Optimistic, Curious, Adventurous, Kind, Empathetic, Earnest, Mischievous, Foolhardy, Philosophical

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Standing at 5'5 Aqua is a relatively short and svelte young man. His body is slender with soft skin and lean muscles. His tan skin, dusted from head to toe with sandy freckles, somewhat masks his true nature, making him appear at first glance to be some form of elf rather than an Undine. His facial features are soft and on the feminine side, his skin pleasingly contrasted by his turquoise eyes and amber-red hair. Because of his connection to water, Aqua's skin and hair are always well hydrated, making them both smooth and lustrous. His hair is also very long, and even when tied in a braid comes down past his hips. Of course most striking of all are the swirling tattoos that cover his body from head to toe. The origin and meaning of these markings are unknown, though they take on a blue glow whenever Aqua channels his powers, suggesting a connection to the source of his abilities.

ON/OFFs:
Ons: oral, anal, gentle love making, rough sex (light slapping, hair pulling, etc. much to his own surprise), heavy sub leaning

Offs: heavy bondage, excessively mean doms , orgasm denial, feet, blood, guro, scat

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Whether by injury or some arcane affliction, Aqua has been rendered mute, unable to speak at all save to invoke spell incantations, in which case he speaks in an almost alien sounding Aquan. (alternatively I was thinking of possibly working his muteness into a custom oracle curse, maybe something similar to the Tongues or Deaf curses.)
What a thrill...with silence and darkness through the night....

Lots of interested people! Just a reminder I'm going to take up to 7 people.

Now for some feedback on characters:

Changingsaint | Ana Field

On/Off stuff is optional, so no worries there.

She has a nice background, simple upbringing leading to a desire to make more out of her life. The later stuff keeps her in the general area I was thinking of starting in which is always convenient as well! I find the goal interesting, the "more safe than it was before" bit in particular. Despite being a rogue I could see her being the group's moral compass...which may be very necessary in some cases. I don't have anything that I would really pick on to change.

Muse | Kotone

I've already kind of mentioned your character history in another post, but like I said there it looks pretty good to me. I still need some more of the character info, but you seem like you're on the right track.

AribethAmkiir | Aeleth Artorle

Looks good, I like the various tie-ins that you have going on, and the possible visions. I do have a couple questions, when you say "bloodline" I assume you mean your sorcerer bloodline, rather than family? And I'd be interested to know more about her "code", what is it and how does she try to enforce it?

SilkenVenom | Imrae Naerth

There's a lot going on here!

My first (and biggest) concern is the alignment and how she would get along with a group. The premise is that all the characters have been together for quite some time, so it's possible that they've worked out any serious issues between one another, perhaps one of the other characters is the leader and Imrae's Lawful qualities keep her in line, or maybe something else entirely. I can put it another way as well: if she were faced with the option of meeting one of her goals at the expense of all of the other characters what would she choose?

My second concern is that Imrae is very old, which is fine, it just means I'll need to fill you in on some other information here and there. I assume you chose her age based on when the underground was closed off? If you want to make her younger I can offer and alternative that doesn't change your background story too much.

Couple questions, did you have an idea in mind for why her mother disappeared? The blank book seemed like you might have, but if not no worries I can roll with it easily enough, I just want to make sure I understand your expectation. When it comes to finding a way into the Darklands, is it just about going home, or is there more to it?

Lastly, necrotoxins could be an issue, number one is that they're about as evil as you can get when it comes to poisons ;D second is that it could be an issue between the Pharasma priest and your character.

If I had to cut someone right now Imrae would probably be the one, even though I like her I feel like she would cause the greatest problems with the rest of the part, but if you can address some of those issues I think we can work something out :)

Ixy | Aphashe

I like the direction you took, I get the feeling like she's lost in the world and looking for a "family" to belong in. If you had any goals in mind for the character I'd like to hear those as well, though that's entirely optional. The only concern I might have is how well barbarian and bard work together, it shouldn't be too bad, but balancing rage, spells, and performance might be tricky, though it certainly gives lots of options for different circumstances.

Latooni Subota | Urd Alvasdottir

Based on her background I almost feel like Oracle is a better class for her instead of Cleric, but either one works. She seems like a pretty good fit, I imagine she's somewhat subservient when it comes to group dynamics, so keeping her from getting too weird shouldn't be too difficult, I imagine. It would be interesting to see how both her visions and Aeleth's visions mesh, and how they both approach them...

pdragon | Aqua

You posted RIGHT when I was about to post all the rest of this message ;D

Nothing seems too out of place here, and the history gives me some ideas of how to incorporate his past with some of the other characters that have been submitted so far. Muteness can be a hassle sometimes, but it's possible that the members of the party all have their own sign language form, which would mitigate the issues a bit. Otherwise I don't really see any problems!

Sorry I missed this question the first time!

A bounty hunter and survivalist would work pretty well, I'd say some of the other characters match that at least a little bit already.

The basic terrain hasn't changed a lot, but flora and fauna have definitely changed. Swamps have dried up, forests are little more than deadwoods, grasslands have turned more into deserts, etc. Animals that weren't well adapted to the areas as they changed migrated away, and eventually some would have died out. Was there something more specific you were looking for?

A camel would not be uncommon to see or have, that's for sure :)

And no worries about the character bit, I haven't set a specific deadline, but I'm thinking Friday/Saturday

Ana is certainly meant to be something of a moral sort of character despite any roguish inclinations from her class. I am not 100% tied to Unchained rogue, I admit - I like the idea of a very tricky sort of character with a broad skillset, but damage output is a concern of mine. too much, not too little. I don't particularly want to outshine other characters and given I'd probably be two weapon fighting with her that sneak attack damage would add up quickly. I want to make a fun character, not one that would feel too optimized.

Thank you ReZL-- I appreciate the feedback, and your understanding of the PC fits where I'd like it to go.

As far as goals: she doesn't understand her own goals due to a few years of captivity/servitude in the criminal outpost, but she is unknowingly pursuing the following: a) She wants to rise above being a scavenger in the wastes (surviving is good, but it's not 'living'), finding stability and relative safety with like-minded people.  b) She seeks absolution for her perceived failings to protect family and friends that suffered, died, or were lost into the world of the raiders.  c) She wants to contribute her life to building a world where armed gangs aren't the norm, and that people who want peace can, at the least, live undisturbed and secure.

As far as balancing a bard and a gun-toting barbarian?  I know it's comical in a way, but, I think of the barbarian aspect more as the 'Road Warrior' post-apocalyptic survivor side of a complicated person.  Someone who can go positively ballistic, as if at will.  The same someone, despite her limited education and her trauma, absorbs information about everything around her in a unique and baffling way, who sees beauty everywhere and rarely finds a chance to express it, but does so with a unique eloquence or tender expression that is so sincere it hurts, or inspires, or fascinates when it emerges.  The violence and the determined survivor aspect are more a product of the environment, necessarily.

And... would the pack burro and other equipment-- some very specific stuff on there-- still be ok?

Ah I see how you've set her up better now, that makes a lot of sense :)

I only peeked at the character sheet a couple of times, but I'll take a longer look at it...probably tomorrow. I don't suspect I'll have any issues, but I'll let you know once I've taken a deeper dive into it--mostly I just wanted to make sure I gave some feedback to make sure everyone had their characters on the right track theme/background-wise and make some suggestions as needed, I'll need to break out my big wrenches before I get into mechanics ;)

Hmmm, closest fate thing might be the Seer Archetype, but none of the mysteries are a great fit regardless, any which way you like would work fine :)

I have an idea percolating for an elven (or maybe half-elven) investigator that was abandoned/orphaned in The Wasting, and is now trying to solve the mysteries of where the elves disappeared to (and, perhaps, how others might follow) and the root cause of The Wasting.

A few questions on the rules side of things:
• would multiclassing on one side of a gestalt be allowed? For instance, an investigator 6 / (gunslinger 5/swashbuckler 1)?
• would we have the option to pick up class levels from different classes instead of additional feats as we advance? Something like an investigator 6/brawler 6/fighter 1, for instance.
• though it would be too expensive to have at chargen, do any firearms qualify for the Inspired weapon enchantment?

I also wouldn't want to step on pdragon's toes, assuming we both make it in, obviously.

All valid concerns which I shall try to answer.

1) If you're concerned about murderhoboing, don't be. Her form of Lawful Evil is mostly about ruthless pragmatism and willingness to do what the others won't. Think of it like this; the group wants to let a bandit leader go because he surrenders and gives them what they want. Imrae is there to argue "it would be better to kill him so he doesn't come back later for revenge". Or, worst case scenario, "at least let me cut off his hand so we can claim the bounty." Not the best example, but I think you get the idea. As to how she might be working with the group, the easiest way is to say she is the most recent addition to the group (for example, if the group has been together 5 years, maybe she's only been there for 2 or 3). They hired her for a specific mission and she found them amusing enough, deciding to stick around for awhile. If that doesn't work for you, I'm sure we can come up with a better idea.

2) There wasn't really a way around the age thing. Elves don't reach adulthood (equivalent of 18) until 110. Middle-age is 175. I added a couple of decades on there because I felt it would make sense for the character to have some worldly experience and have some manner of life. I can bring it down though if you feel it is too high.

3) The book is supposed to be related to her mother's disappearance, but I hadn't come up with how yet. Wanting to go to the Darklands is about seeing the place all those stories were about. She always feels out of place on the surface, so maybe going there would help with that. That is the thought process about it anyway. Also, maybe her mother found a way back there and just never told her.

4) Not going to lie, I will probably axe the necrotoxin thing in my next draft. I really like the concept of them, but after reading more they are somewhat impractical. They either require a crafting ability too high to reach in this game, or Inquisitor doesn't have access to the needed spells for the better ones. Sooo...yea. Probably don't worry about this too much.  :P

Mister Ugly

Still a work in progress!!

Pukamum Mawgson "Puk"

RACE:  Half-Orc
GENDER: Male
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual [Dominant Tendencies]
AGE: 25
CLASSES: Scarred Witch Doctor/ Divine Hunter [Milani]
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Neutral

CHARACTER HISTORY: Pukamum has been on the move since a child. Taken in by a group of Caravan Guards when he was found near their camp. His travels shown Puk many things. How bad the lands had gotten, how much oppression there was and how scarce moist things had become. Even simple items could be hard to find. Good iron, decent cloth, food all became more difficult to find as he grew up and filled. Now tall, at 6' 5" and broad shouldered he belies the image of orc witch doctors. Yet his patron guided him to not only his hexes and spells but as a hunter as well.
Puk has led several rebellions against very oppressive lords and has a small bounty on him from one of those that survived. Making it to the River Kingdoms he currently works out of Daggermark. So I have a possibly dumb question due to rule interactions. Is dual-wielding revolvers a thing? If so, the standard -4/-4 or because they're smaller precision-based weapons would they be -2/-2?

This is not a particularly important question, I just like the flavor behind double guns and was wondering about the crunch behind it.

It appears that two pistols would be -4/-4 because nothing states that they are light weapons, from what I can see.  They're one-handed but not one-handed light. I found this discussion and it seemed to reach a consensus.  For frame of reference, one of my character's classes has an ability that lets them use a one-handed firearm and a one-handed melee weapon at the same time.  That's, apparently, supposed to be a big deal... but, I don't see how that's any different than regular two-weapon fighting.  So she has a whip for her off-hand... if you can't blow their head off, make them lay down.
rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/57625/for-the-purposes-of-two-weapon-fighting-are-pistols-considered-light-weapons

However, if ReZL has a different ruling, then that's what we'll go with for sure.

Looks good, I like the various tie-ins that you have going on, and the possible visions. I do have a couple questions, when you say "bloodline" I assume you mean your sorcerer bloodline, rather than family? And I'd be interested to know more about her "code", what is it and how does she try to enforce it?

Yes, when I was talking about bloodline I was speaking of her Sorcerer's bloodline,  She knows it came from her father, but not where he got it from.  The Lore for the bloodline suggests that they're able to move onto the Astral plane, and manipulate time and space.  I think it might be kinda fun to explore that a bit, maybe.  I'm not looking for anything OP or game breaking, just something fun and a bit off the beaten path, if possible.

As far as her personal code, I haven't fleshed it out much.  I'm waiting to see if she's accepted and who else makes up the party.  Some of the ideas I'm toying with are: "Live life by your own rules, but adhere to those rules"; "Only take from those who can afford it"; "Loyalty to friends, fortune, and fame, in that order"; "Kindness is not weakness"; "Only a fool trusts before it is earned"; "Death at the end of a sword, is far better than withering in the wastelands"; "Live for today, because tomorrow we may die"; "Mercy is for the weak, but Cruelty is not to be feared"; "Repay your Debts"; "Your song is bolstered by the greatness of your companions"; "It is in those whom you leave behind that your Fame and Legend flourish within"; "When in doubt, shoot first"; "Death is just the next great adventure".   - Basic tenants or guidelines that she'd use to live her life, help guide her during difficult choices.  It's an attempt to capture that Swashbuckler feel.  Trying to grab onto the flavor of things like "the Pirate's code" or "Code of the Musketeers" or even a "Thieve's Code" depending on the party's makeup.  Adherence to it is really the only thing that makes her lawful, as she doesn't put much stock into the various laws of the scattered pieces of civilization.

RACE: Human
GENDER: Female
SEXUALITY: Bi
AGE: 19
CLASSES: Samurai (Warrior-Poet) and Psion (Kineticist)
ALIGNMENT: True Neutral with good tendencies.  This is not a morale goal for her, nor would she take any pride in it if she learned that was her alignment.  Kotone has not yet found a sufficiently benevolent occasion to rise too.

CHARACTER HISTORY: A few generations several samurai from Tian Xia and their wives were exiled to Inner Sea Region.
There was certainly no shortage of adventure in traveling from city to city in these dangerous times.  b
Then she met a girl...

PERSONAL GOALS: “You're not leaving without me, Aeleth.  We share everything, remember?  That includes our journeys.”
Kotone wants to be part of an epic adventure.  She wants to share it with her best--and cuddliest--friend.  She wants to do something grand and heroic, something that will change the world and be sung about for ages to come.  She just doesn’t know what yet.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Artist and music lover.  A dreamer, who long to have great adventures and wield weapons of legend.  A warriior, who finds battle to be the ultimate chance for self improvement.  A dancer who values grace, elegance, and beauty, and takes pride in herself for achieving these things.

There are some really interesting characters being shared here.  I'm particularly interested in seeing how Puk could add to a small party dynamic, for instance.  And the idea of these characters meeting up, getting to know each other and staring across the table at each other as if they're all nuts is... kind of awesome :)

The basic idea you've presented sounds reasonable to me, and for your questions...

Multiclassing on one or both sides is fine--my preference would be for you to only do it on one side
No, only feats are gained as you advance. Keep in mind you can purchase class features from classes you have at least 1 level in (or prestige classes you qualify for) with your feats.
Several of the firearms have become Simple weapons, all of those would be fine to use Inspired on

All of that is very helpful, thanks :)

Another question though, would you be willing for her alignment to shift over time to good (or at least neutral)? From what you describe it sounds like she's on the more "neutral" side of Evil, though I know alignments are all pretty nebulous sometimes. Which also leads my devious GM brain into: what is she looking for in a consort? Does she just want someone totally subservient to her, or someone that would challenge her as a peer?

"Also, I don't really mind taking some inspiration from Vash, but my preference would be to not simply clone the character from top to bottom--given the tone of the game I'd probably scale back his chaotic antics. But otherwise I wouldn't really have any problems with it :)"

Is the name Vash ok. I understand I am NOT playing a clone of him. but I do prefer to keep the character name Vash. is this alright? I want to double check as I am working on a character build at the moment.

Using the name is fine with me :)

This is not a particularly important question, I just like the flavor behind double guns and was wondering about the crunch behind it.

I would simply treat them as hand crossbows: "You can shoot a hand crossbow with each hand, but you take a penalty on attack rolls as if attacking with two light weapons." So to minimize those penalties you'd need to take the two-weapon fighting feats.

Wanted to get those questions out of the way first, doing a quick look over at the new submissions and any character sheets I see (character sheets are still not required, but if you want me to look at them feel free to piece one together).

Yeah, I figured the vagueness would leave room for some potential plot hooks and what not. And communication can be a problem, but I figured that'd be one of the more entertaining parts of playing the character, having to work around it.

What a thrill...with silence and darkness through the night....

Mister Ugly | Pukamum Mawgson

There's nothing particular that really jumps out at me, though it looks like Daggermark is becoming a rather large town from the way everyone describes it ;D

Currently I don't really get the "Chaotic Neutral" from what you've put down, if anything he seems pretty balanced between law/chaos. I'm not too picky about alignments that people assign as they're not very easily defined things sometimes, but I do use it to help me get a basic idea of what the character's like.

Otherwise it looks good, and I like how Deoge reminds me of Doge ;)

Muse | Kotone

Thanks for filling out the rest of the stuff, it's very helpful :)

Obviously nothing's really changed with your background so I'll skip that bit. In the goals you mention that she wants to do something heroic that will change the world, do you have an idea of what you'd like to go for? I don't mean something that Kotone is actively planning for, but something that you, the player, would like to possibly do.

Looking over your character sheet, I don't see anything crazy--if you're looking for languages Varisian would be a good one for her based on her history. I'm a little puzzled by the hit points which you have listed as 22+5d10, not sure what that's from or if you just haven't filled it out yet. Looks like everything is coming together pretty well though :)

Ixy | Aphashe

Looking over your gear first, it looks like everything is fine to me. If you want to have a bunch of salvaged junk that's fine as well, let's just call it 10g and we can suss out the details another time (or just make it a "magical pile of junk" ;D )

Alternatively--and we don't need to figure it out now--I'm going to likely include and NPC helper for the chosen group that will fulfill one or two roles based on what the group decides, one of which would be taking care of carrying junk around, so you might not end up needing the burro anyway. Just food for thought for now.

SilkenVenom | Imrae Naerth

Your sheet is still pretty rough looking, but everything seems pretty good so far... Your abilities seem to be all over the place, but I think you're trying to be a switch hitter with melee and ranged?

One thing I did notice was the Weapon Focus bonus you get, that should apply to a weapon group, not just a single weapon, so for Longsword it would be Heavy Blades.

Yea. It feels a lot harder to make a character in this than I thought. It's real rough and I'm not exactly happy it isn't coming together better. The abilities made sense to me; STR for damage, DEX for +3 AC max in medium armor, WIS needed for Inquisitor stuff, +1 INT required to have 3rd language because Drow don't start with Common (and I need to be able to communicate with everyone else), plus some CON for HP. CHA comes with +2 due to race bonus, which I could drop a bit if I wanted, but it didn't seem like those 2 points would raise up anything else more useful.

....I'm not going to lie, I've been having second thoughts about the character. It certainly feels too all over the place.  :-\

Latooni Subota

Yeah, something a lot of people tend to not realize is that the really cool or thematic gestalt builds are super MAD. The more diverse your spread of abilities, the more ability scores you need. Wanna be some kinda spellsword? Now you need your caster stat, dex for AC, con since you'll be in melee, strength if you're not going the finesse route . . . it really adds up. Heck, for Urd alone I'm looking at some mix of Dex, Wis, and Cha at a minimum. Fortunately, 25 points is a LOT of 14's you could get, before racial modifiers, and Drow have some nice racial modifiers iirc.

Have you considered dropping Str and going with a finesse weapon instead? We have so many options for dex to damage now if you're worried about your melee attacks not hitting hard.

If that 12 inteligence is something hard to afford, all you need to do is put a rank in linguistics.  It doesn't cost anything extra to do it cross class.  :)

I don't want to keep the people that have made submissions waiting too much longer, so I'm planning to make my choices tomorrow night. Please have your submissions posted by 19 June at 10pm EST. Remember, you don't have to have the sheet completed, but I want to know that you at least have a plan for your character meaning the two (or more if multi-classing) classes you'll be using for your gestalt.

I'll do another quick round of feedbacks and answer any lingering questions later today, after I finish up some stuff in the real-world ;D

Latooni, Ranger casts off of wisdom, oracle casts off of charisma.

Of course, cleric uses charisma for channel energy.

(Also, speaking as someone who apparently botched their last 17 social rolls, low charisma sucks.)

Vash the Stampede | Vash

I notice the pacifist bit which is always interesting, if also contentious. Something I'd like to know is what would he do if one of the other characters was going to kill someone? DnD/Pathfinder is usually pretty violent so being a pacifist can be very difficult, so it's good to know what your limits are. Is killing non-sentient creatures okay? What about animals? What about magical creatures that have slightly higher than normal intelligence?

It looks like you've got a good direction going, but the other question I'd have is why would he join up with a mercenary group and stick around with them for the long-haul?

Otherwise it looks like a good start :)

I think that just about covers it...

I've already been chatting with indarkestknight too, we're just working out some details, so he'll probably have a submission soon too.

CHARACTER HISTORY: Once upon a time, before the blight that laid waste to Golarion, the act of raising the dead was commonplace enough that every member of Osirion's royal guard had already died for the pharaoh before being charged with the safety of the royal family.

But while vanishingly rare, even in this fallen there are still a rare blessed few miracle-workers left, and the blood of pharaohs runs through the veins of one.

Where many other nations have crumbled, Osirion endures, albeit diminished. The nephew of Osirion's most recent pharaoh was named Safir for the clear blue of his eyes, but despite the Prince's mixed heritage, as he matured into a young adult, it became clear that did not disgrace him in the eyes of Osirion's old gods. Feeling threatened by the gifted young prince, the pharaoh of Osirion set quests before him, each of which he overcame in turn. Indeed, it was these very same challenges that forged Safir's strength, and in time, he grew capable of working magic that had not been seen in centuries. Fearing what he had become and that the gods, distant thought they might be, favored Safir, the pharaoh set one last quest before Safir, one that would send him to distant lands, to face dangers greater than any he'd known.

Upon accepting, Safir set out into the world, while keeping secret his pharaonic lineage and the depth of his abilities. He was dismayed to discover that despite Osirion's descent from its apex, the world beyond its borders was even worse off. In time, he trekked across land and sailed across sea,  he found himself in the company of a group of adventurers. While it took some time, he has come to trust them with his life, and, more than that, with the twin secrets of his identity and the miracles he can work.

PERSONAL GOALS:
Character goals
• complete the seemingly impossible quest
• return home to Osirion with his friends at his side
• do what he can to stabilize civilization wherever it can be fostered
• discover what has led the gods to become far more distant from Golarion than they once were
• keep his friends alive
• leave the world better for his successors than he found it

Player goals
• discovering some of the lore regarding the Pathfinders/records of their heroism, maybe decide to follow in their footsteps/found a new Pathfinder Society?
• some romance and/or sexy romps

PERSONALITY TRAITS: dignified, noblesse oblige, protective, proud

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: While he keeps his status as royalty quiet, Safir makes no effort to hide where he's from. He favors the fashions of Osirion, though never to the point of impracticality. Poised and self-possessed, he will rarely be seen fidgeting.

ON/OFFs:
Ons: anal, erotic massage, oral, somnophilia, squirting, titfucking,  topping femboys, vaginal, women
Offs: anal to oral, anal to vaginal, guro, noncon, scat, vore, watersports

ADDITIONAL NOTES: As an Exemplar of War Omdura with the Blessed by a God or Dragon feat and Cleric casting, Safir can cast one 4th or 5th level cleric spell per day as a 10 minute ritual. He still needs to provide any material components or foci. This gives him access to the likes of commune, divination, lesser astral projection, plane shift, scrying, and raise dead.

Pharaoh's gender is deliberately left ambiguous so Re Z L can do with that character what he pleases. Similarly, whether his mom or dad was royal, and which was a foreigner was left up in the air, but I imagine his foreign parent was probably an ambassador from another of the few remaining bastions of civilization.

Here's what I've got so far, still a few areas to flesh out.

Trying to decide on what to use as a character image... would anyone have a strong opinion one way or the other?

Trying to decide these two pieces of art – anyone got any strong feelings one way or another?

AribethAmkiir

Looks like a fun character.  I like the 2nd pic, myself, but why not use both?

Muse

i like the first better, but i think Aribeth has the right idea. use both!  :)

Hey ReZL, may I make Vash a custom drawback for for being psychologically damaged when he kills someone?

Vash keeps telling me he wants to take insanity points when it happens.  I tell him this isn't Call of Cthulhu, but suffering a morale penalty to your actions for a while after a triggering event is definitely in keeping with drawbacks?

Something along the lines of becoming shaken for a period of time would work, probably about an hour

Anything else I can add/share about my character?

Addressing an earlier question in my next post.

Nothing about Kotone's character pushes her towards a specific heroic act.  That's the reason i noted that she had not yet "earned" a good alingment.  (I'm probbably being too hard on her.  I certainly tell plenty of people that just because their character "isn't good enouhg" doesn't make them "not good"--aka neutral.)

So, please feel free to create a story where she could find any worthy crusade  and become a passionate promoter of it.

But if you're asking so that I can potentially offer a direction to your story?

   Hmmm...

Kotone's clan of traveling players basically want to make their living entertaining people and it's easier to do that by traveling from place to place because it takes a huge community to support full time entertainers.  They have the desire to do so.  They have a few powerful protectors--who share the knowledge of how to protect with younger people in the troupe--which gives them the ability to do so.

This has given them the perspective that people from different places and of different 'races' aren't that different, and what differences we do have make us interesting and distinctive.  They like to facility communication between cultures.  Maybe Kotone could become involved in brokering an great alliance?  Or setting up a peaceful trade network?

The incan empire must surely have have had ways of defending themselves militarily--even expanding their empire--but they didn't generally hold their empire together by military might. They held their empire together throuhg trade--a way of linking nations together that ideally improves everyone's quality of life--and with a sport.  I believe it was an ancestor of the same basketball-like game the Aztec's later played, and that some people still play today in parts of central America.  Small nations would send their teams to other nations in the empire to play before the crowd.  We have found statues--bas reliefs I think--in different cities depicting the same athlete--suggesting that this guy was so popular that the cities of rival teams put up a statue in his honor.

Kotone could do something like that?  Establish a series of carnivals where artists and athletes go to different cities to perform and compete.

Nope, you don't need to add anything, and thanks for the other post it's helpful :)

I removed the "Guiding Blade" from Rowena.  Couldn't find many teamwork feats that I liked for the build.

She'll still be mostly focused on team buffs and enemy debuffs.

Annaamarth

Knowing that the is a full game and there is likely to be a waitlist, I'd like to submit interest for the future - or alternatively, give you some character concepts to tinker with, since I am totally late to the dance.

These concepts rely heavily on Dreamscarred content, which I saw had been approved.  In all cases, there is an intersection of Firearms and the Path of War; two cases also use Psionics.  In no particular order, and at a very rough-draft level:

1) Kasdain the Black Culverin - Human male, a Marksman (Cannoneer)-Stalker for smacking people with a goddamned cannon (and also shooting a goddamned cannon) - build would be very much a skirmisher/sniper with a side of area control.  With a culverin.  Which is a cannon.  Covering Fire affecting an area of effect would allow for solid close support and for melee allies to reposition easily.  Stalker enables stealth, shoot-and-scoot bonus damage play, and an endless supply of basic ammunition through the Phantom Sun Stance.  Suffers a bit of multi-ability dependency for carrying a 40lb greatclub/cannon and having some abilities that rely on Strength.  Marksman Sniper style can re-roll misses a few times a day, so Kasdain does a few things really well.  Most of them violent.  Kasdain wants to prove his strength, and the might of his cannon.  He wants to be legendary and life a big life - if not a long one.  Probably Chaotic Good or Chaotic Neutral - he's more interested in the fighting and contests than actually doing any good in the world.
Note: This could instead be a Marksman (Cannoneer)-Gunslinger without adding additional ability dependencies, since the Marksman uses Wisdom, but the Maneuvers and Stances opened up by Stalker give some excellent options that I think are worth the loss of Grit.

2) Nasenia - Human female, a Warder (Hawkguard)-Cryptic (Grammaton) for sweet, sweet dual revolver gun-fu and ranged attacks of opportunity, for something like a ... well, a Grammaton Cleric.  Or Revolver Ocelot.  Fast stealth means she can reposition in a skirmish or get into pistol-whipping range - or use something like Oil of Silencing to go John Wick. Warder gives solid reaction, ranged attacks of opportunity and a passive AOE buff to AC and will saves centered on her, so the Hawkguard/Grammaton is less likely to engage in shoot-and-scoot play, and more likely to be a part of The Line, supporting her allies with a barrage of fire.  Nasenia is just trying to get by and not die in the world of Gunslinger Golarion - but she'd love to try to make the world a little better along the way, restore some proper civilization, as Abadar intended.

3)  Nemo (Nameless, No-one, The Wanderer) - Human*, currently female, a Gunsmoke Mystic/ Reincarnated Druid.  Gunsmoke Mystic gives her access to overtly-magical disciplines as well as the ranged-specialist disciplines, letting her dip into Riven Hourglass along - I'm not sure yet whether she has an animal companion (a horse would be a little on the nose, but appropriate) or if she makes herbal concoctions for flexibility, but either way, this is a more fragile class combination and build than the others - but more flexible in that it doesn't specialize in culverins or pistol specifically, and she can get herself a repeating rifle.  Nemo has been around a very long time, and every time Nemo dies, Nemo reincarnates.  In a better world, she'd take advantage of the good folk around her - and once upon a time, she did, she thinks.  That was ... before the Wasting? Perhaps?  But the he (because she was a he, then, she thinks she recalls) became ... a part of the fabric of the world, and she had to watch as things got worse.  Now, she doesn't even remember her (his?) name, and the pointlessness of her existence has rendered her a bit nihilistic - but she strives anyway, because the struggle is in her bones - her very soul - in ways her memories aren't.  She's struggled for lifetimes.  She's been wandering so long she's forgotten why- but if she finds a way to fix this damned world and effect some real change, she'd jump at the opportunity.  Hell, she's a bit curious about why the Wasting got started to begin with, and where the Gods went, why the Dwarves retreated ... the works.
