Bookmarking & Unread Posts 101

This is hopefully a helpful tutorial on the different ways you can use to identify threads or boards that you're watching as having a "new" post in them. There really are four ways that you can use to keep abreast of the new posts to various boards or threads in Elliquiy:

1. Bookmarks - track specific threads
2. Notify - track a thread or board through an email notification
3. Show new replies to your posts - track ALL threads in which you have ever posted
4. Show unread posts since last visit - track all threads within a Board

Bookmarks
One of the easiest ways to create a "custom board" for your favorite threads is to bookmark them. This solution works well in particular to track your RP threads, ons/offs, apologies/aways, etc. In other words, threads that are specific to you. It is a one step process:

1. While in any thread, simply click the "Add Bookmark" button in the upper right corner of the thread.

When you select this button, you will automatically be taken to your bookmarks board. Anything marked with a "New" indicates that someone has posted after your last post. Click on the "New" and you will be taken to the first new post after your last.

To visit your bookmarks, simply click Bookmarks in the upper navigation:

You can only bookmark threads and not boards. To delete a bookmark, simply visit your bookmarks thread, select the box next to the thread to delete, and then select "Delete selected bookmarks" at the bottom of the list.


Notify
The Notify feature in Elliquiy will send you a notification email whenever a particular thread or board receives a response. While in a thread or board, simply select the "Notify" button in the upper right corner.

To unnotify, simply enter the thread that has the notify active and select "Unnotify."

Show New Replies to Your Posts
Show new replies to your posts is merely a listing of all the threads in which you have ever posted that have had a reply since you posted. This list can be quite long and can't be pruned. Remember posting in the Google Wars thread when you first joined? It'll show up. To use this function, select the "Show new replies to your posts." link in the upper right corner of any screen.

Click on the "New" and you will be taken to the first new post after your last.



Show Unread Posts Since Last Visit
This is an effective solution if you are interested in any posts to any thread within the Board. For example, if you are active in a sub-board game you can have a report that is similar to your bookmarks page or the "show new replies to your posts" link only for designated Boards. This requires a few steps:

1. Visit your Ignore Boards Options in your forums profile. You will see something similar to:

2. Select which Boards you do NOT want to show up in your custom search.

3. Click "Change Profile" at the bottom of the screen.

Once this has been set up, you can select the "Show new replies to your posts" in the upper left corner of Elliquiy.

Click on the "New" and you will be taken to the first new post after your last.



Mark All Messages As Read

Note: If you click the "Mark all messages as read" button, in any part of the site, it will mark ALL messages as read.
