Well most of mine are situations I would not be in, in RL.  *laughs as she looks over to the extreme board*

For me..

The extreme game is the one that is easiest for me since I am such a horror/gore fan.  Add in that I found someone who is as "sick" as me..and I'm in heaven.

My current oldest game is with Aelfric...it's the one that challenges me to write better and is completely different than the rest.  I've actually been able to pick up some writing techniques from him.

My werewolf one with Ananasi is raw and he's probably the easiest person for me to write with since I've done the most stories with him..the newest one with him is a setting that's new to me..magic..so it brings that challenge to me (I have always avoided most non-modern settings).

The werewolf one with Dingo is probably the best romantic storyline I'm in...him and I talk -a lot- about the story...and he is so used to me saying "I need brainstorming to post" that I no longer feel silly asking my gazillion questions.

My story with Cpt is hilarious...and there's a lot of him and me in our characters with the sarcasm and constant banter..gotta love that!

And lastly my story with Silvestine has that "what's coming next" feel in it for me..his character is a big tough recluse *laughs* and my character (young, fairly timid girl) gets to break his demeanor.

Greenthorn

okay and how about a NEW topic? *giggles*

As members who have been here..what exactly is your favorite thing about Elliquiy?  Mine is deifnitely the community feel..and feeling like even if you don't -talk- to everyone, you -know- them!

The Great Triangle

Yeah, I'm going to say community.

Also, functioning forum software.

Thanks Vekseid!

for me it's the smut... *giggles* no, seriously, the community here is just incredible... even when we're banging heads a bit, we seem to be able to pull it together when we need to and work it out.  :)
you were never able to keep me breathing as the water rises up again

Okay, I want to introduce another topic. Many people in this forum, I've noticed, have (at one time or another) mentioned drinking alcohol of one kind or another - rum, gin, vodka, whatnot. As a college student, I know that a lot of drinking goes on, on campus. Especially, since I live in a dorm residence hall with freshmen who are eager to spread their wings, get drunk, and lose their inhibitions. Or something.

Personally, I am not a social drinker of any stripe - I rarely do it even within friendly or close company, and don't have much of an acquired taste for alcohol. No particular reason - just never really got into the scene, and don't really plan to. I've drunk alcohol before, enough to get drunk - nothing really happens to me, except I become a lot more logical and reasonable (annoyingly so, I'm told) than when I'm not. I don't even get much of a buzz or high off it - it's nothing like de-stressing by playing sports (aka smashing tennis balls against a wall) or running, for me.

I'm interested in why people drink (if they do), whether socially or regularly; also, for those who don't, why or why not?

I dont drink alcohol because I can not tolerate it well. People have surmised its my short/small stature. Being 4'11 and usually sans medical issues AKA pregnancy or the period of time between my  last son and my hyperthyroidism was diagnosed, I weigh between 90-110 lbs. People tell me that it takes a lot less alcohol to be absorbed.

That said 1 beer and I am buzzed 2 ro 3 and I am drunk ...just not a pretty sight :P

Caeli

Aww, you poor thing. *hugs* Mind telling us, what about these experiences that makes it "not a pretty sight"? ;D

LOL Not in a pg-13 spot :P Basically I experimented a few times before I realized I wasn't goingto develope a tolerance.....but apparently I was the girl who ended up naked on the tables...good thing I have never been a social bunny so the few who witnessed such fiasco's were just my gay best friend, who just adored reminding me of each and every night until I finally told him if he kept it up he would have to find someone else to do his hair and the time he got the brilliant idea that duct tape would solve his....erm tucking problem. (Now THAT is a hilarious story). Him and a mutual friend of ours that was his roommate, she and he were pretty amused by my situations :P

Caeli

Oh, Sherona... you will be glad to know that I can't picture you in such a state/situation. xDD

Me, I remember taking quite a few shots and drinks on a snowboarding trip one night. We were playing various card games (Texas Hold'em, as well as Bang), and I was dealer for one round and a player for the rest. I happened to end up winning ;D If we'd been gambling for money, I would have gotten quite a bit richer that night. xDDD

Caeli

Hehe no thanks xD First of all, I'm not 21, which makes it illegal for me to get in at some places. Secondly, I react badly to smoke - I hate cigarette and cigar smoke, and the smell and taste really gross me out, so I usually can't handle even being in the non-smoking areas of casinos. Blech.

Och forgot the 21 business :D when I was 18-21 they allowed us to get into bars just we had to wear this obnoxious wristband so bartenders knew we werent allowed to drink. SO that on top of the TOO loud music, the crowds of people that just made me twitch, and the annoying drunks that always thought Karoke was funny (in a non-karoke bar) I tend to stay away from those type spots too :P

Caeli

Speaking of karaoke though, I've always loved Asian karaoke places. <3 I'm a true Chinese girl, what can I say? ;D Plus, as a college student, it's great fun singing and making a fool out of yourself in front of friends and whatnot ;)

Caeli

Nah, I'm sure you can't be that horrible, Sherona..

I've heard people sing, who seriously have no ear for music. To specify, he could not tell the difference between one not and the other, and when he sang, really ended up... well... off tune. Since I have a good ear (no singing ability... quite unfortunate), it pains me to hear off-tune singing. xDDD But it's funny.

well after the first few episodes where the really clueless seeming people are cut, I quit watching as it really is repetitious show. But its amusing to see some of the people who audition and really think they can sing.

Caeli

I wish I had the luxury of watching television, really I do. *shakes head* But the show is amusing - or at least, the first episode is.

Since we went off on a tangent... I really do feel like sometimes, heavier games are preferred on Elliquiy. I have nothing against those who like heavier-toned games, it's just... I don't exactly like the sugary vanilla stuff either, so sometimes I'm a little *sigh* when I put up roleplay requests and there is no response to them. At all. LITERALLY.

Makes me feel like a roleplaying failure. -___-

I know hun, your not the only one to express frusteration over lack of replies on story ideas. I like vanilla ok, I do have a few lighter stories but they don't hold my attention sometimes. I enjoy exploring the human psyche, and some of the most interesting pointsof the psyche is how it reacts in defense, how it works in times of stress.

*hugs* You are not a failure. I think that for the moment its harder to get lighter games going because a lot of people came here because darker aspects were allowed, lighter rp can be played a lot of places, but a good safe spot for NC or extremes is rare to find. I think it will chnage soon, we are getting quite a few in who do prefer light games.

Caeli

*hugs* I think I know that, mentally. Just that, as a writer, it's a bit of a let-down to post up a request and never get any replies... especially when newer requests are put up, and they're immediately jumped on. I've been on E for a few months already, so I already have quite a few roleplays under my belt (over half of which have died... =/ ), but if I feel like this... well, how does a new member, who might be really nervous about joining a new forum like Elliquiy, feel about not getting any replies to his or her request thread? Being patient is one thing, but it's pretty upsetting when there is no interest, or seemingly no interest.

I doubt that it's anything to do with you, or your story ideas.  In my experience with those boards, I find that people look at the ideas there as not a starting point for discussion, but something set in stone in the mind of the person looking for a game.  So if it's not EXACTLY what they're looking for, they aren't interested.

That's just one possible problem.  There are a billion others.  Of course, I'm hardly qualified to give opinions on this, as most of my games (all except for three, lifetime)  were started by discussion by PM, and not by the story boards.  The best advice I can give is to not give up, as those boards obviously do work.  Not only that, but strike up conversations with people, and invite people to games via PM as well.
