(Much praise to RouguJedi for editing this rambling and turning it into a requested.O

This is an odd request for me, but I wanted to do something semi-historical.  From watching the "Six Wives of Henry the VIII" eight times now and glimpsing historical information about the Russian Empress Catharine (formerly Sofia before her conversion) and her social and military dealings and such.  I would enjoy engaging in a roleplay set during this time of nobility, royal courts, intrigue, empires, and such.  Feel free to ask questions, especially since this is just a basic idea.

Well, there's always the semi-historical Castle Falkenstein...

You mean I'm not the only one who knows about that one?

I've never heard of it and I am sure it is. I will attempt to look this up.

Catherine the Great, eh?  I must admit that this is the ideal place for a game revolving about her.  If you need extra players, I'd be interested, but I don't think I have the time to do the research presently to do this game right as a referee, and if it's to be done at all it ought to be done right.
I prefer justice to irony.

I could probably do the research on my own, but don't even want to attempt to run it on my own. Me personally, I how she took risk and played with fire, I am not sure how her story ends, as I was out the door when it started getting dangerous. Because I am curious, I can look it up.

Nope. Though I discovered the setting rather recently.

For reasons I cannot fully explain, the idea of a dragon with an Oxford accent reciting Oscar Wilde amuses me greatly.

Same here...dragon with an accent

MadPanda

With or without the Faberge Egg collection?

Or, worse, a Dragon who talks just like Bunny Wigglesworth (ne Ramon Vega) from Zorro the Gay Blade...

*Tilts head, peeking in* I could be lured into a historical game... *Pokes Panda and grins* If I'm wanted, that is... *Is currently Majoring in History*

Currently majoring in history, eh?  Where, with what emphasis, if I may ask?

If there's anyone willing to undertake this thing, I would join too.  I just don't think that I'd be up for running anything more than a one-on-one right now, and this needs to be a grander game.

American history, up to 1877 at the moment. *Chuckles* I'm not too far along, but its a start. *laughs*

What, me run?  (chuckles)  I like Ars Magica, too, but that takes a LOT of paperwork and is terribly, terribly 13th Century.

Falkenstein might be fun, but our initial querent seems reluctant to try that one (for good reasons).  Ver' Victorian.  It could be adopted for a more Middle Ages/Renaissance/Reformation setting easily enough, just by losing the steam-tech stuff, and we could ditch the whole diary thing except for the char-gen stuff.
