I'm leaning towards Issac Clarke from Dead Space, but I have to scour my very limited video game collection for any viable candidates.

Tentatively interested in this. Two questions: is there a place in the plot for a non-combat oriented character? And will a character be able to fit in if they're sociopathic and sadistic? Thinking of playing Justine Florbelle.

BruceTheCat

We have several characters who in their respective video game universes are not exactly action hero's. Isaac from Dead Space being our most recent addition. The RP does have several team and solo fights in it with the Legion members, so strictly social characters would not work well.

A sadistic character would work! We had a Harley Quinnzell for a stint. They just have to be on the good guy side.

If you would like a player's opinion and specific example, my current character at the moment is Rubi Malone--who is often wrathful and prone to making threats about mutilating enemies. I would not really call her pure hero material, but she is with the other protagonists on account of seeking revenge against the Legion. If she gets a few good influences, that might change. So, a partly-sadistic character doing good deeds for self-serving purposes...for now.

Korra

Current Occupation: Odd jobs, otherwise simply serves in the Protagonist War and upholds her duties as the Avatar from her Homeworld, traveling to other worlds to either thwart Legion offensives or quell any domestic threats in the absence of that world's hero(es).

Home World Information: On her world, many of the population are well equipped with the ability to wield a given element and use it for protecting themselves, and Korra is capable of using all four. It is not as advanced as other worlds, but they have designed walking, combat-capable mechs, and there are trains, vehicles, and other similar machinery, so they are not very far behind the modern world. Benders and non-benders alike may have an excellent grasp on martial arts.

Harmonic Convergence, an incident for which Korra is responsible, led to the return of Airbending throughout the world (as long before Korra was born, Airbenders had been nearly wiped out).

Appearance/Style Description: Korra is usually found sporting her signature Water Tribe outfits, which makes her very recognizable for those either looking for her, or seeing someone stand out. However, she likes to, and often does, wear more modern, currently trending clothing at her own discretion.

Personality: She's the Avatar, meant to maintain the precarious balance not only in her world, but now the universe, and her responsibility seems to have grown to massive proportions. Still, Korra is the type to rise to such a challenge--intimidating as it may be. She is not easily broken...but it can be done carefully, at best. She is headstrong, capable of making tough decisions now more than ever in the middle of a war--just like Aang had to all those years ago. However, she doesn't feel capable of matching the last Avatar's prowess--Korra has bloodied her hands, and knows she'll have to do it again and again and again while fighting the Legion--because nothing less will stop them in their tracks. She'll do what she has to do--even if it'll make her feel sick and ashamed afterwards, to have sacrificed the emotional parts of herself for a greater good--any greater good she can find in the worlds that are suffering.

History: (Vague because: A) I do not want to spoil the series for those who have not watched it, B) The series has not reached its conclusion yet, and I'm operating off memory, and C) I prefer not to state every detail which a wiki or similar database could cover. Just a dusty, bare-bones synopsis for the uninitiated.)

Korra has trained for three of the four elements since she was very young, and became proficient at them--although hardly a master. Even while training for the fourth element, and trying to master the first three, the young Avatar found herself free-falling into a handful of dangerous situations over the course of the next few years:

First a non-bender movement, whose participants were aptly called Equalists, that sought to strip away the abilities of all benders, and their leader, a masked man capable of literally doing such with his bare hands just as Aang could;

A conflict between water tribes steered towards a struggle between forces of light and darkness, and ultimately united spirits with humans;

A group of radicals seeking revolution and anarchy, and to that end, removed the Earth Queen from power, then poisoned Korra herself;

And three years later as Korra spent her time recovering, a new militant leader, who happened to be a highly skilled Metal- and Earthbender, took power in the Earth Kingdom and moved to seize even more.

Through each situation, Korra has struggled to succeed against foes who have done their homework exceptionally well and prepared for her interventions. Success only came with encountering many setbacks and defeats before eventually gaining the upper hand, often with either assistance, unlocking a previously unknown ability, or entering the Avatar State, calling upon all the power she can while being at her most vulnerable. For someone with so much power, it seemed to her that she was the one who needed the most help of all. With the weight of the world on her shoulders, the easiest route would have been to give up and disappear...yet Korra soldiers onward, picking up the pieces each time she was broken, and pasting herself back together.

She still continues that pattern, to this day.

Current Situation:  Korra has been busy and grew up in a time of need, faster than most other people her age should. The Avatar has spent her time pitching in to fight wherever she can, helping whenever she can, and has been doing so for a relatively long time. On occasion, she returns to her Homeworld in case it is being threatened or a potential ally is looking for her. In one case, an ally happened to come by in the form of a man named Chris Redfield, already host to Blacklight at that time. She stuck with him for a handful of battles, and they developed a minor system of tactics--becoming used to fighting alongside each other, such that they could employ tactics with nothing more than a hand gesture signal to one another for messages: 'Take the left to flank,' 'Same move as before,' 'Support me at range,' and so on.

An invasion of her homeworld led to Korra having to split away from Chris during downtime, plunging right back into the fray in order to save her world from a brief assault; General Grievous* led an army of Covenant heretics for his offensive, although only after an initial rush of insects from the Starship Troopers universe to wear down his foes. While the Avatar did have assistance from her friends, a team of Jedi, and a number of characters from other worlds(including alien Predators, two Splinter Cell agents, numerous powerful melee specialists and many riflemen), they were nearly defeated; the General himself joined the fighting ranks after a few brutal days of combat, and fought them to a standstill. Before the draw was made official, Grievous, along with a handful of Overshield-equipped Elites, managed to:

1: Personally kill three of the Jedi, steal a lightsaber from the fourth after knocking her unconscious, and severely wound the fifth by flinging him through a wall.

2: Render Bolin and Lin Bei Fong unconscious at the same time.

3: Personally Break the spine of one of the Splinter Cell agents.

4: Have his troops detect the cloaked Predators, cleave one of them in half, and blow up the second one by shoving a primed spike grenade into an open wound. The third had been killed during earlier fighting.

5: Personally break Korra's left arm, drive a knife through her thigh, and leave six deep punctures in her stomach by stomping on her, also breaking several ribs in the process.

6: Have his troops cut down several of the mages and most of the riflemen and melee fighters.

However, Korra pulled off a last-ditch effort with the Avatar State and forced the General to fall back; he was never injured, but he was wise enough to avoid fighting such a concentrated effort. The Legion'forces retreated, knowing more reinforcements would come to assist the Protagonist side, but Grievous had done plenty of damage. Korra survived yet again to recover; this is the reason why she could not answer Chris' call for forming another team of Protagonists.

After that battle and the required healing/recovery that followed, Korra's next handful of visits to other worlds were mop-up operations; her tasks ranged from healing and stabilizing wounded, to evacuating the residents of that world, or sometimes assisting in holding back Legion assaults to buy a stalemate.

Weapon: Korra always makes use of her bending powers, but she sees the need for more advanced weaponry as the situation calls for it--and the situation very often does call for it. Aang himself probably would have stayed with his staff, and Korra has her own as well...but nowadays, it is not uncommon to see the current Avatar wielding a rifle or sword when she needs to. Currently, she has acquired a Covenant Energy Sword.

Special Powers:

Element manipulation proficiency: Everyone on Korra's homeworld that is a bender, is only capable of manipulating one element. As the Avatar, Korra can, does, and often will wield all four elements, as well as certain subsets:

→Fire: The subset is Lightning.
→Water: There is additionally Bloodbending, however, Korra currently does not know how to do this.
→Earth: There have been variations on this, between Sand, Metal, and Lava. Korra only knows the standard Earthbending, and Metalbending.
→Air: Only two people are said to have been able to fly, using this element, and Korra is neither of them. The first was long before Korra's time; the second, she would rather not think about.

Literally a spoiler alert!
◘ She has lost the connection to all of her past lives not long ago, and with it, their combat experience, wisdom, and specific powers and skills are permanently lost to her.

Energybending: This is an uncommon ability given to her in the past by Avatar Aang, while she had the connection; there is much more to this power than the others, but the parts Korra understands are that she is capable of restoring or removing bending power from a given person, that it can instantly grant knowledge to someone, and that the use of it requires an unbendable mind and spirit...lest she become corrupted by the very person she uses it on. She has only used it to restore bending; she has no experience with any other aspect.

Physical durability: It's been a staple of her world to produce hardy, tough characters; Korra has been hit a lot. She has been cut by waterbending, scorched by fire, electrocuted, slammed by solid pockets of air rivaling hurricane gusts, struck directly with rock in the torso and sent flying, been smashed into hard, unforgiving surfaces, had her powers drained by chi blockers, and after all of these situations, she's lived to talk about it.

Strengths:

Literally her physical strength, demeanor and confidence: She is fully aware that her athletic build, toned limbs and sometimes abrasive personality does not make for an entirely feminine outlook, and also doesn't care for any negative comments about it(though compliments will make her awkwardly thank the speaker).

Passionate: Once Korra sets her teeth in a goal, it takes something of equal or greater force to make her let go, and it hardly ever leads to a peaceful resolution.

Strong sense of morality: She has an ingrained, if not slightly off-kilter, sense of good and bad, and while sometimes this can conflict with what's smart and what's right, Korra tries to take the best option she is offered.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes immature/confrontational: If someone picks a fight, Korra is likely to pick one right back if she hasn't started it first. She is up for competitions, rivalries, anything of the sort, sometimes even when the odds look clearly stacked against her. She has been improving greatly, though, in recent times.

Hotheaded: Tied in to the above, she may jump into something without fully understanding the things at stake or what may be required of her; sometimes the big picture can elude her.

Still learning: Korra can tangle in fights against skilled combatants, but she is far from being untouchable and unbeatable. Outside of the Avatar State, opponents that are fast, resourceful, and using speedy unorthodox methods can get several hits in on her. In the Avatar State, there are less opportunities as Korra goes all out with simultaneous but different element attacks. In this case, the challenge comes in stopping her from building momentum; a direct hit can stun or bring her out of that superpowered state before she traps her foe into a corner.
