Aw patooey...had seen the thread yesterday but got side tracked and didn't get a chance to read it till today but seems I missed my chance at that truck driver/mechanic slot. Let me know if you add any more slots. Maybe break up that second mechanic slot? I got no problem driving the truck...who doesn't want to get paid to do next to nothing? He could double as "the muscle" or something though I don't know what Marconi's profile looks like.

So I guess let me know, Mr. F, but here's a thought.....rival drivers...gotta have competition to get that racer drama going and other teams looking to recruit their genius mechanics, techs, and handlers.

DarkEnigma

Well if this thing kicks off we could always add another team? I already know another female driver we are going to add as a npc, yet I do not know how much she is going to be used (pardon the pun).
Just keep the place bookmarked, I tend to frequently update. I’ll throw the idea around in the gossip area and see if some good players would like to participate, providing my current group does not mind expanding. For now I’d like to keep it compact in the beginning.

Drake (refusing to use the other name since it makes me hungry), Might I also suggest the gentle giant route, or at least on the surface Either with a brawler/jack of all trade route, or someone who has some experiences with being on a team.

Qt

Hey, I'm interested in this game if there is still room for more characters. c:

Rex Pacis

Haha you thought it was Macaroni too. xD

My other idea was being the over the top race announcer but that is probably a minor role at best I think. Okie dokes, Mr. F, I'll try to stay updated with the RP in the mean time. Good luck.

An idea for a possible spot on the crew, flassche.

For extra cash, the crew could do a transport business on the side. Could add non-racing dynamic and a bit of conflict (if a passenger with dangerous load or shady background is picked up). Just an idea.

DarkEnigma

Considering adding:
-Mercenaries: Either male or female. Tough (wo)men who know what end of the rifle is which. Usually driving in separate cars in front or behind the car. During stops they mingle with the crew.

-Crazy weapon tech specialist: Someone who likes boom! And swords. The sponsors noticed the lack of offence on this team and decided to up the hardware to ensure more ‘ratings’.

-Cargo: Either fugitives or high profile people who hitch a ride on the truck to shake of paparazzi/goons. They usually hitch a ride until the nearest town.

-Blank.

Whoops - didn't realize until now how close my handle was to a certain pasta.

Anyway, here's the re-application for Dane. Sorry about the confusion before (and the long wait. Holidays are kicking my butt more than expected. But thing have slowed down, which is good.)

Name: Dane Todd
Nick Name: Great Dane
Apparent Age: 28
Sexuality: Straight
Gender: Male
Civilian Appearance: Dane is a massive mountain of a man - tall, muscular and strong after a life of lifting heavy auto parts. No matter where he is, Dane dresses like he is in warmer climates - jeans and a short-sleeved, button-up shirt stretched across his wide shoulders. Sunglasses, straw hat and usually a cigar.

Work Appearance: A pair of team overalls, usually smeared with a healthy amount of oil and transmission fluid. Keeps the hat on. He likes the hat.

Bio: Ever since he was a boy, Dane spent more time on the road than he spent off of it. The transition from governments running things to corporations wasn’t exactly a smooth one. Dane’s father was a runner - a man who drove supplies across the crumbling country, making a living as a trader and smuggler. Always on the move.  Dane could handle a big rig before he knew how to walk, and knew how to keep it running on chewing gum and wishful thinking when parts were scarce.

All good things must come to an end though. As the corporations solidified their power, they also cracked down on the runners. Cut into their profits. So, when the heat got to be too high, he switched gears, so to speak. Turned his mechanical talents and driving skills to the racing circuit.

Personality: Dane is a larger-than-life figure, with  a personality to match his size. Known for his loud booming laugh, which he uses often, Dan is a friendly fellow, always ready with a smile and a bone-crushing handshake. Years of being on the road have given him a sort of patience and introspection that seems pretty rare in the racing world. Slow to anger...but when it does happen, it is a sight to see.

Talents/Flaws:
(+) Knows a Guy- Dane has visited nearly every highway and major town in the western world. And he’s met quite a few people on his travels. No matter where they are, he’s sure to have a dozen friends and friends of friends - from high up corporate types to shadier contacts.

(-) Non-committal - Pretty much the only thing that can crack that calm, even demeanor of his: commitment. A life on the road has made it pretty much impossible for him to commit to anything. Gets nervous if he stays in one place too long, and he’s generally not comfortable talking about himself, more than any shallow details, because close relationships seem like an anchor.

(+) Well-Travelled -  Dane has lived a nomadic life, and lonely days on the road were usually countered with someone sharing his bed. Practice makes perfect, after all, and he displays the same confidence and skill as he does on the road or under the hood.

(-) Hot and Cold - Given his refusal to commit to anything in life, sometimes he can become a bit distant, even cool, after sex, especially if there is anything that even hints to something more than the physical. It has in the past caused some tension between himself and others.

Hard no: Animals, toilet stuff and extreme gore: no thanks.

Awesome! We shouldn't be too long before the Titan arrives in the next town. Idea was to pick your character up there. Im looking forward to it, though I wonder if Joy will appreciate that someone takes her place behind the wheel.

Scribbles

Marconi, just an idea but since Dane is so well connected, wouldn't he likely know where to go to find the team's truck? Before you try it though, you should check with Flassche and Mj2002 first to make sure there's no set plan for bringing Dane into the RP.

If it where up to me. His intro would be by throwing a man through a brick wall, landing bloody and unconscious a few inches away from the handler and the rest. Nothing says ‘your hired’ better than complimenting a person on his people throwing skill.

“Leaves his fifty cents.”

Is everyone enjoying the rp so far? Any changes in pace, perversion, plot, etc.

“Puts down the suggestion box.”

Tagged you in the RP thread!

Flassche

Any open slots left?  You know how I love a good story.

DarkEnigma

Hey!

I know you love a good story, among other things.

All the openings are currently filled (pardon the pun), yet I have been getting quite a few pm’s from players willing to participate in the rp.

Perhaps setting up a second team? One to rival The grey Merc and Joy?

It all depends on what the current players are craving.

Eliza

Could use a bit more clash and conflict. It's mainly downtime before the racing action begins.

What Eliza said, I know we were planning some NPCs but if there really is so much interest then a second team of players might be a lot more fun.

Hey folks. I really do enjoy this game, but it's become apparent that I can't keep up with the pace of most of the players, and the demands of keeping up with the threads/making regular posts.

So if it's cool with y'all, I'm happy to put Frankie up for adoption, so to speak, and let another player take over the character (or role, if y'all'd prefer just to write Frankie out of the story).

Sorry for flaking out on y'all, I really do like playing with you, but I feel bad that I can't really keep up.

DarkEnigma

No hard feelings!

Glad to have had you along for the ride.

Good luck on the hunt for other rp’s!

So are you too far along in the RP for a new driver?  not sure I'd want to pick up on someone else's character.

DarkEnigma

Well our previous mechanic is either on a holiday or has died during a ‘tinkering’ event on one of the bikes. So we have that position open for grabs. A new mechanic wouldn’t be too hard to find in a world like this.

As for other openings:

I was wondering if we could get another team going, pouring in some competition between the two teams.

I’ll see how many requests I can get for this or stalk some of my contacts.

Orderand‘nachos’:  Did you wish to be a driver on this team or one of the lead drivers in one of the opposite team?

orderNchaos

I'd be happy to be a driver on the main team, but if you think there is a need for a rival team to add to the plot line, I'd enjoy running at driver on that team too.  ;)

mj2002

The position for driver is probably best filled in a new team, since the existing one already has two at this time. I hope more people will show interest!

flassche, perhaps you can add a new roster to the first post? The old roster needs some updating as well.

DarkEnigma

Done!

Added a second team and a spot for a announcer/journalist.

Any suggestions for team names?

The perfect handler, both IC and OOC!
