Mithlomwen

Mith studied sinera for a moment, trying to discern if she was in fact telling the truth.  "Fine, my lady, perhaps you are indeed telling the truth and you are as innocent as I am."  She thought for a long moment, trying to recall the events of the day and what was said about whom, and who might possibly be responsible for the deaths of innocents.  "As a show of good faith between us, I will change my vote to that of Lord Aiden and take the advice of Lady Sky and Lord Winterborn in hopes that they by some chance have knowledge of his guilt."

Mithlomwen could only hope that her show of good faith would convince others that she was in fact innocent and change their votes as well or she was truly done for and would be joining the other innocents slain by the rebels.
Baby, it's all I know,
that your half of the flesh and blood that makes me whole...

sinera

sinera nodded. "I agree, my Lady. If we do not stop this strife between the two of us, then those truly responsible for the deaths of our kinsmen (and women) win. As you have changed your vote from me, I shall also change my vote to Aiden.

"I hope that we are not mistaken; there are so few of us left to support Her Majesty."

She sighed and prayed that Aiden was indeed one of the rebels. Otherwise she'd likely sent an innocent (though thoroughly annoying) man to his death.

Aiden

"Upon my death you will cement yourselves as true traitors to the crown!"
The man sneered at the two, glaring pure malicious intent on them.
"I will not be hung by you all...if I am to be put to the noose I will run my self into the very blade I used to defend you all when you were still suckling from your mother's teats."

Ryven

Imogen

Imogen bowed her head towards Mithlomwen. "Milady, your courage humbles me and for good or ill, I shall stand by you today. I also change my vote to Aiden."

Amberghylles

Lord Amberghylles looked up from where he had been watching the debate with a tired and stoic expression.  "It grieves me to see such venom and strife among this court.  Truly, what manner of example do we set when we, who should be the best of the kingdom, squabble and bicker like unruly children.  It is with a heavy heart that I say I do not know who pleads true and who lies.  But I find that Lord Aiden's theatrics and behaviour have been without doubt unseemly and uncouth, though I wish I had more certain proof of his villainy before I point my finger at him in accusation, I must make the most informed choice that i can."

((Psst... *points to his name twice in the tally.  He change to Aiden and is no longer voting for Mith*))

Ket

Ket listened to all that was being argued around her. She had wept for her wrong decision, having spent the majority of the day in the chapel on her knees, imploring the Lord for forgiveness and wisdom. Once the hall had quieted some, she lifted her head to speak.  "I fear for our kingdom, my countrymen. This arguing amongst ourselves has quickly led to the demise of three of the crown's loyal servants. I made a grave mistake, one I do hope that I shall never make again.  That said, I vote for Elandra.  I pray that I am not wrong again."

Suspicion fell overwhelmingly on Aiden, his haughty insistence on his own innocence only seeming to turn the others still more firmly against him.  Once more the headsman performed his grisly duty, while the ever-shrinking group watching uneasily.

But there was to be no relief or rejoicing, at least not for the innocent.  For this day, their Healer had died, and left them with one less chance of salvation from the rebels.

LadySky

LadySky watched silently as the worst occurred and she refused to look away from the grizzly death of an innocent. She had pointed a finger to him from the beginning and now his death weighed heavily on her shoulders. As she went about performing the duties of her position LadySky felt chilled within, a cold hollow ache building in her chest. Once more she locked herself away not to sleep or rest however, LadySky spent the night hours on her knees, praying for guidance and aide in the coming days.

Although law lay the requirement that all the court show watch the condemned betaken to the gallows.  Xandi struggled for strength. She is saying prayer as Lord Aiden is walked past her and the speed and intensity of those prayer until the ax has done its job and Aidens identity if revealed, The Healer.

Xandis face grows pale and her legs week as she says, "my lord what have we done," She sits on the edges and smells her smelling sauce to keep from fainting. Once she is confident she will  not faint she rises and is escorted back to her room where the royal ceremonies for the dead will begin. As she begins the traditional ceremony in blackness there is a knock on her door, who she hope is her friend country to check on her, she could use some company to perform the ceremony.

country

“Lady Xandi.  Please pardon my intrusion in your quarters.  I have been sorely distressed by the events in the court and sought counsel with the Holy Fathers.”

“I have been remiss in not returning your glove sooner.  It has lain next to my heart since you bestowed your gift to me.  Your gift, through the medium of your glove, filled me with inspiration and I trust my efforts at the games were worthy of your confidences.”

“I know that you will be much troubled by recent events and made haste to your quarters, thinking to comfort you.”

Mithlomwen

Mithlomwen was completely shattered when her vote had turned out to be the wrong one.  A thousand doubts ran through her head, wondering who the Rebels were.  She had changed her vote as a token of good faith to prove she was innocent,  and had as a result aided in the death of another innocent.

Something haunts the dark halls of the castle, whether spirit, flesh and blood, or both; and on this night, whatever forces are at work are doubly busy.  With the dawn, two fresh deaths are discovered.  First, the Lady Imogen, a loyal Councilor, slain by the dastardly rebels.

The second shocking death is that of LadySky, the one who had been duly elected as Regent -- now revealed to be a conniving Rebel herself.  A small bottle nearby, with the strong whiff of poison lingering, bore mute testimony as to the manner of her death.

The Alchemist's potion, it seemed, had been used wisely.

desert ashes

Moirae exhaled quietly as she hovered briefly in LadySky's doorway, the key slipped back at into the pocket hidden in the folds of her black gown.  Seeing the thorns brought ease and comfort to her heart and soiled hands; only then had her heart stopped thudding so wildly against her chest.

One down, six to go.

Returning to the meeting chamber, she sent for Lady Imogen's body to be prepared for burial.  LadySky's could burn for all she cared, her proper death had already been handled.  Easing down into her favored chair, she said to any of those already gathered, "I vote for the Alchemist as Regent."

Lady Xandi is relieved to find her friend Country at her door. He had come to comfort her, although it was improper for a gentleman and a  lady to be alone, they spent the night completing the ceremony to commemorate their dead.

At first light Xandi heard the tale of how Imogen had been slain. She was surprised to hear how LadySky had fooled them all, as regent she was the last one suspected of being a rebel. Today another dawn has arisen and now two more lay dead. This time however at least the Rebels were hit by the passing of LadySky. Xandi prayed for the dead loyal councilors and for the strength to find the rebels and see them all hanged.

sinera

'twas growing to be too much. sinera spent the day weeping for Aiden, for her own part in his death; then to be struck the next day by twin arrows - the death of Imogen at the hands of the rebels, and then to hear that not only had LadySky died at the hands of the Alchemist, but that she was a rebel as well? It boggled the mind.

She gathered with the others in the hall; the smell of food was enough to make one gag, but she wanted what scarce comfort she could get from being around others.

"I would vote for the Alchemist, if I but knew who that was, my lady. Since I do not, I propose that we elect Mithlomwen as the new regent. She has convinced me of her innocence, and by this word I stand."

Why does the alchemist not reveal themselves?  There is nothing more for them to hide.  The deed is done.  If we know who it was, we could elect him or her as regent.

Until then, I vote for Moirae.

country

Country slipped quietly from Lady Xandi’s chambers.  He glanced furtively about, concerned lest his presence in her chambers be noted by others and thus bring disrespect and shame to the fair lady’s name.

In light of the activities of the past evening, he expected to find the hall bustling with members of the court as they met furtively to compare stories, listen to rumours and discuss the events.

Instead, everything was quiet.  Few of the other Lords and Ladies seemed to have emerged from their quarters.  Was everyone cowering in fear?  Errors of judgement had been made.  Advice from the Holy Fathers seemed to fail.  Were they not the seat of all knowledge? A careful choice of a new Regent was essential and yet few seemed prepared to make that choice.

Should I propose Lady Xandi?  Would that choice be too obviously made because of my inflamed passion?

Autumn52

When the voting for a new regent began Lady Xandi was consumed with the loss of so many friends. She finally lifted her cup and said, I think Country would make a fine regent. He is a man of worth and he was trustworthy.

Lady Xandi hoped he got the position, she thought he would do a fine job and the crown would gain another asset.

Elandra

Stricken by the death of the healer and relieved that the regent was discovered to be a Rebel, Lady Elandra looked at those remaining and voted her conscious, "I concur with Ryven, Lady Moirae will do the position justice.

Caeli

Caeli squinted her eyes at Ryven, before nodding her head as well. "It is lucky that the previous regent was exposed before she could do more damage. Hopefully, Moirae will prove herself a worthy regent."
