A War for the Modern Ages Reboot (Fate/Stay Night Anime Game)

Unlike the stories of books and movies, the existence of magicks, of all kinds, has always existed. Unknown to those who believe not, families have been tangled within the roots of magicks since the earliest days of speaking and writing, with the likes of Kings and Monarchs holding the greatest sources, while the masses had their on ability to rely on, along with the materials they had available. Centuries over centuries, magicks have been used for every day life, but then came a time, a day in age where selfish individuals began to use their power for their own needs. With the power hungry individuals of Crown, who had wealth and power at their side, and the liberating heroism that shrouded over the resistance of Chalice, their war began. Power, wealth, status, it all began to crumble under the year-long wars that raged, and in that instance, an idea struck within the confines of both opposing sides. By gathering items of deceased soldiers, of healers, of magic users, they could be brought back. To fuel a never-ending war, both sides of the fight began to bring back the dead, of heroic warriors and malicious villains to fuel the fire of war.

Death and famine plagued all lands, with the population dropping with every day, with lives lost and families being torn apart from the onslaught of murder and glory. The war for power could no longer last, and with a final push in the 1700s against the resistance, Crown had fallen, retreating to the shadows to admit defeat. With Crown retreating, Chalice was able to take the upper hand and rid lands of remaining forces, allowing the group to bring peace wherever they could. However, the bloodshed and tears, it couldn't be painted in the history books, no matter how gruesome and foul. As a sentence for such loss of life, and to restore whatever peace they could befit onto the world, the most skilled and experienced mages created a spell of known as "Afterthought"; the effects would remove the war, and all those who had died, from the minds of every human, every non-magic user. In exchange, the magic users who had participated in the world would be forced to remember the atrocities of their time, for as long as they lived, and when the time came that the spell would fade, when the war began once more.

With this spell in hand, the magic users, and the allies that they had summoned, continued to work together, behind closed doors, to ensure the war not continue. However as time passed, numbers began to dwindle on both sides, and with no true steps towards re-igniting the war, the sides have been at a stand still, with the summoned being called back to the beyond, and the war ever waiting to continue...

Now I need modern day Japan, the stirrings of magicks are once again in the air, but not of the common folk.

No...it’s the war; it calls back, for a victory to finally be won.

This game would be a Freeform Modern/Fantasy type setting, with elements of magic and sorcery added into the mix.

Since I am basing this off of the Fate anime series, the RP will include elements of the show. Such as an example, each player will be allowed to call forth their own hero to partner with them to help either fight, or help instigate, the war.

For this to work however, and to make sure everyone is able to participate and have a partner, each player shall make both a Summoner, and a Partner. Doing this doesn't necessarily mean that you will use both, but it's just a pre-caution so other may have a chance to claim someone for their character to partner up with.

Summoning:

How this will work is a Magic User can summon any type of hero, or villain, if they have the right incantation, and the item of said individual. If you wish to summon someone like King Arthur, then you would need to have some piece of him, or something that would mention him; anything from a piece of armor, to a book, or scroll. Vice versa with any sort of fairy-tale being, and the like. You must have some of person that you wish to summon as a partner, or your summoning would end up with someone random.

No one would be limited to having only heroes on one side, and villains on the other however. You could have heroes fighting to help Crown, while villains could be working in the shadow to help the resistance of Chalice. It all depends on what you come up with, and what you will think make the story more interesting.

Once summoned, the Magic user, and the summoned individual, will form a contract, that no matter what, they will fight, and work together, until either of them perish from the world from any means.

Summoners:

Summoners are the individuals that summon their partners to help aid in the war, yet they cannot simply be any normal person. They have to have some amount of magic potential, no matter how large or small. From experienced Wizards from generations of history, to a first time user that's trying to get their feet wet, only people with magic potential can summon, and of course, use magic to help aid in the fight.

As well, since this is in the modern age, these individuals can be anyone; a classmate, a lawyer, a wealthy individual within the corporate world; it all depends on what you come up with as a player.

Rules:

1. If there is any issues regarding a particular player or a scene where people cannot seem to agree, PM me and I will handle it. I want everyone to have fun, and fights and disagreements can easily be solved, to an extent.

2. You will give each and every person that same respect that you wish to be treated as. No harsh words regarding people, or making fun of others for something that they said or did in game. If you aren’t going to respect others, then you can’t be in this game.

3. Since this is an anime game, I want people to use anime pics for their character! I’m a bit of a stickler for continuity, and since we are basing this off of an anime, I would like everyone to use an anime pic. RL pics in an anime game just don’t do well for me because it takes the whole experience out when you see an RL pic mixed together with anime pics. If you need help ask others, or myself even, but this is something that I have to stress because I can never really seem to get my head wrapped around it. If you ABSOLUTELY can’t find anything, then we can come to an agreement, but for now, please use anime pics.

4. Grammar, this is a big thing for me as well! Grammar is something that is super important to me because if it’s bad, it can take RPers out of an experience by seeing grammatical errors, or run on sentences that don’t seem to have an end. Please make sure to check your grammar in posts, and if you need help, feel free to ask myself or others.

5. No god-modding. I can’t stress this enough but if you have a plan for a character or wish to do a certain scene and you control another persons character without asking, it’s gonna be bad news. You have to ask permission from th either user before you can perform any such actions that would involve two characters for a plan. As well, no automatically landing hits or attacks, simply because you need to give the other user the chance to react to your post and what has happened in said post. It wouldn’t be fair if someone were to control your character in game right when you had a reaction planned, now would it?

Quality of Magic Circuits: These area pseudo nervous system within a magic users body; the magic circuits are what help a magic user use their magic. What quality are they in? Novice? Intermediate?

Magic Circuit Switch: (What activates your magic circuits to use for practice, or in battle. For example, Tohsaka Rin activates hers through the sound of stabbing herself in her heart. Emotions and feelings such as pain or sexual arousal also work)

Prana Tank: A-E. How much prana you can store. Rank A are the highest, E is the lowest.

Master’s Decrees: These are seals that allow you to give a command to your partner; whatever you wish, they will follow with it. Remember, you have to give specific instruction, no vague words. What does the seal look like? Where is it located on your body?

Magecraft: What magic does your character know? Elemental magic, witchcraft, etc.

Mystic Codes: A tool that a magus uses to store their spells and magical knowledge into as a second source. Can be a weapon, or something with limited uses, like jewels or marbles.

Non-Magecraft Related Skills:

Fluff: Skills that don't affect the RP. Cooking, cleaning, can do handstands.

Utility: Mechanical skills like construction, disassembling a gun, modifying a car (Limit of 3)

Combat: Fighting skills marksmanship, hand to hand, karate (Limit to three, up to three need consistent background information)

Nah, you can have figures from history, like Hans Christian Anderson, or from stories if you would even like! I made a servant for a Fate game awhile back where she was Odette, from Swan Lake! Let your mind be creative in coming up with something!

All in all, I would be the one to accept or deny it, but even if I denied it, I would help people to fix it to make it acceptable. :D

That would be an interesting idea, however in this game magic is in secret, much like the Fate universe. Users that have used magic have kept in the shadows, fighting the war in secret. When the war ended, the “After-thought” took to affect, wiping the war from humans’ memories. By the time the war comes back up and resumes after someone begins summoning again, all of the individuals that had been apart of the war (humans wise that can’t use magic) have passed away, making it that individuals that are only versed in magic, families that passed down this knowledge of magic and the war, are the only ones that know of this incident.

Regardless, the figures that fought in the war (magic users wise), would only be known to magic users. It could be a possibility, but it would need to go by me first, and I would need a huge backstory to your character that you are using, PLUS a huge backstory as to who the servant is. I’ll think about it, but it may not be a possibility depending.

I won’t be sure until I get more interest and see exactly what I’m working with.

I hope to get one some day, but I know rates are terrible. Plus I’m picky when it comes to what Servants I want to roll for, and since I haven’t been following the NA server, I don’t know which Servants have been in the limited box. I really want a Prototype Saber, as well as the Phantom of the Opera, but I don’t even know if they’ve been introduced in the game yet in the U.S. 0-0

I would say, just to be safe, yes. For the beginning it will be the original classes; Lancer, Saber, Archer, Caster, Assassin, etc.

In the latest Fate series the Berserkers carried on conversations out of combat.  They limited Frankenstein to mainly grunts and none verbal communication, but she was not crazed at all.  I would imagine it would be finding the right hero.

Yeah, basically it's your choice what hero you want. I'll give people the chance to be creative, like if you make a Berserker they can speak, however minimal words or just doesn't talk much.

So that’s the list so far! 9 out of 10 ain’t too bad! :D

Alright, so my plan for this is that for each side, Crown and Chalice, each will have a person with the title based off a chess piece.

Chalice (Resistance Group):

For each side, the role of King or Queen will be taken by someone that will be the “leader”. They won’t be the main person of the game, but they will be the person that has all the info on the war so far, and what each side has been doing until now.

Yeah I ended up watching Stay Night UBWQ before watching Zero. The hugs wants to watch in order and so we're now watching Zero. Still it's an amazing anime with fantastic artwork and plot line.

For now not yet. I just want to see what everyone thinks of the titles first, and if they idea is ok with them. From there I’ll make the sheets (I’ve been making them but haven’t finished them yet).

They should be done no later by the end of this week, possibly earlier if I get all my midterms and essays done!

For the time being, think of what characters you would like, both your master and servant, and I’ll finish the sheets in the mean time!

I'd say save up. I spent too much on dumb rolls and baits, but can be satisfied with my lineup. Summer event ate nearly 300 quartz with nothing to show, so I'm just gonna do a major roll for Scathach (Best lancer in the game) or JAlter when they appear   ::)

So far have Attila, Orion, Tamamo Caster, Francis Drake, Rider Alter as my 5*s. A bunch of other 4*s... Lancer and Assassin departments need much reinforcing!

Biography wise for your character should be their life up until joining the war. What experience they’ve had as a mage, if they are one, what they know about the war, of both sides of the war, and how they’ve learned magic and such. Basically their life story

What exactly did you have in mind?

Basically it would be if you knew about the war going on, how long it’s been going for, which sides there are, etc, etc.

You have to be a magic user, or hpbe in a family of magic users to know about it, however. Unless your character was not a magic user, and had connections with magic users and the magical world, would they know about the war.

Best way to do it right there. I'd also suggest adding such links as the one you gave me to the first post. Ones that explain what the Grail war is, and a few other things. It might help draw in people who aren't overly familiar with the anime/manga

Personality: Mallory is a kind, yet thinks resourcefully. She’s calculating when it comes to the war, more so since it has involved her family over centuries. She can be welcoming and loyal, and has been seen as on of the more active members of the resistance, but has become to realize that the war may not end with her at the helm. Her desires to end the war may seem vast, and with very few resources, the dream she strives to complete may not come to her; despite this, she still doesn’t give up. Competent, she tries to keep her ideals about the war, and what it has taken from her, to herself, deeming it personal information, however talking to others about what she fears about the war has seemed to help her connect with more of the resistance. Being honest to others is a bit hard for her, due to eyes always watching, but when she has time to relax, she’s more friendly and carefree, open to whatever is on other people’s minds. However, the mood may return back to a serious leader when the time is needed.

Title: Queen

Objective for the War: To put an end to the war, and Crown’s chaos from spreading

Partner: Saber

True Name: Arthur Pendragon

How did you acquire summoning them?: The scabbard of King Arthur’s sword Excalibur, has been passed down to each member of her family for generations, after her ancestor Archibald, had discovered it while on an expedition. Each member who fought in the war has partnered with Saber.

Knowledge of the War: Generations of her family fought in the war, with some of her ancestors the first to create Chalice. She’s studied all she’s can on the War, as well as tactics and plans that her family has used over the centuries.

Biography: Mallory ‘Chise’ Fukuhara, was born to two gifted Mages; a Japanese man by the name of Kagura, and her British-American mother named Anna. Both current members of the resistance known as Chalice to the war, the two had found some solace in one another, and had brought life to her and her sister. From the first day as children, they were introduced to magic and sorcery, both sisters having an inept affinity for the mystic arts. However, tragedy struck when Anna was on a trip to the United Kingdom to meet with other resistance members.

They was a bombing, and she was killed.

At the age of 6, Mallory and her mister were then taught by their father for 2 years, before being sent to a high ranking Mage’s school located in France, where they would learn the most knowledgeable resources regarding Mage’s and magic, and be safe from the aftermath of the war resuming. It was there that Mallory was able to craft her Magecraft known as Bloodcraft, while her sister stayed within the confines of elemental magicks. At the age of 13, Mallory graduated from the school, ready to harness her skills to help her father and family. However, despite her wishes to join, her father kept her from joining, telling her she was too inexperienced, and she was too young to get caught up in a bloody mage war.

Her father was assassinated when she turned 15, while he was on a mission for Chalice.

Her sister soon left her as well, wishing to have a normal life and to not be caught up in a war. At age 16, Mallory’s family had all left her, and she was forced to learn on her own. The war had been at a standstill ever since she was 16, no movement on either side. With that time, Mallory continued to practice her magic, perfecting her blood magic, and getting the necessary materials she needed for the war effort.

With barely any member left, and even one of her closest friends leaving the side of Chalice after her disagreed with her ideals to end the war, Mallory has been gathering as much information as she could own her own on other magic users that could help the war effort, and to restore Chalice, to give them a fighting chance to end the war.

Family History: The Fukuhara family is a mixed family of Japanese, American, and British lineage. Having originated in Britain during the beginning of the war, the family moved from different countries such as The United Kingdom, and the United States, learning magic and different methods to help tip the scales of war in Chalices Favor.

Magecraft: Versed In Witchcraft, or most notably, the use of using your blood as a weapon. Known as Bloodcraft, she can crystallize her blood to small jewel like shapes, and store them with magical energy to be used as limited use weapons if needed. Her main skill, however, is her ability to use her blood as a acid, that can dissolve concrete, metal, and even flesh.

Mystic Codes: Her mystic codes are stored in a dagger, which has a slit in the blade capable to hold her blood in for battle. She also keeps her handmade jewels, made from her blood, for quick use in case of an emergency.

Fluff: cooking, sewing

Utility: Knows how to disassemble and reassemble a gun (has never used one however), how to wiretap a phone

As in who your character is summoning?

You have to have a catalyst of whoever you want to summon. For example, if you wanted to summon King Arthur, you have  to have some possession of his, such as the scabbard to Excalibur, or a piece of their armor. This explanation has to make sense in regards to your character for obtaining the item.

You could say that the item was passed down throughout your characters family, like I did, or you could say something along the lines that they bought it in the Mage’s black market. You can’t simply say that you found it outside randomly, basically.

Not really. They are mostly alias’s for everyone to use so thats how you don’t use your characters real name in public. Crowns minions could be all over the city, and as a result, could get info on you from just simply your name.

The only thing that the Queen role is, is of the “Originator”; she’s only the “leader” in the sense that her family had started the war resistance. By no means is she the one with the most experience in magic, or even info on the war. Other characters that people wish to make can have this similar background as well, but as a result, they don’t have any sort of power.

Edit: Though, if anyone had interesting ideas, we could have the roles give each person a certain ability, or power?

That is true Rhinsama! I’ve been contemplating that for a bit now, and was thinking that each person would have a different class; however, I don’t want to force people to make something they don’t want to.

I would say, for the time being, we are allowed to have two of each classes, to make things easier. I’ve already gotten one person who has wanted a Saber class, but other then that, nothing else.

If people can, PM what class you want. I’ll make a list of classes on this Topic to keep track, and so that others can see it as well and adjust. So far I’ve only got one Saber, and my servant that I’ve finished profile wise is a Caster. So for now, two of each class is allowed. If we get more players (who knows?), then it may change.

I’m actually hoping to see more villain characters for the game! I only have one confirmed master, and one confirmed servant that will be in Crown, so I hope others will come to make exciting evil characters, maybe like some of the characters of the original Fate series like Kirei who was a priest, or Shinji who was just an asshole who wanted power and to be recognized. Characters that are similar in traits and personality like Shinji or Kirei are interesting to me because they were just so psychopathic in their desires for the Grail war, or even characters like Sancraid from Prototype just fascinate me because of their madness and willingness to obtain power.

I just like crazy characters, ok. lol XD

Maybe that may be a hint for you all that I may need some villain peoples soon, cause so far everyone is Chalice. :’)

If you’re having trouble with her Miracle, look over her story or backstory, and find something that sticks out. What kind of weapon did she use? What kind of fighting style? Did she use magic? What kind of magic?

Basically ask questions that branch into more narrow questions and answers, and from there, you could connect something to a Miracle.

True, she definitely has a more hands on style when it comes to combat. Though I could see them being super sneaky and trick fighting their way through encounters. Like my master sneaks around planting balloon traps around the area and your character "detonates" them from afar with his arrows, or she uses her flashy moves and illusions as a distraction while he's just up on a perch somewhere taking pot shots from afar. I could see them being a fun "gimmick" team in that regard.

Ah well, this game has its own sort of plot you see. It’s based off of the Fate series, so there is a Holy Grail and Servants and such, the plot is just original for the sake of open game ideas and such. Check the first post to see the giant plot blurb I did in it.

Hello everyone reading this!

This was a game idea I had a bit back, and it was gon great, up until it didn’t, and the game began to die out. I want to try this again because I love the Fate series, and would love to create an amazing game with some awesome writers! I do want to stress that this game needs players who are willing to stay for the long haul and not leave halfway, so please make sure to think about that before putting interest down!

Keep in mind this is only an Interest at the moment, I’m not sure how many people will respond. Regardless, I hope to find other fans of the series and bring this game up again!
