SMF 2.0 RC1 has been released

...so we will be upgrading in the coming week or two. I am going to be upgrading and applying the intended modifications to another forum to make sure everything works smoothly first.

Yes this means we are getting search back.

TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING

1: The arcade will be going away temporarily. - and it's not coming back with all of the games. If someone could compile a list of desired games to keep, that would be awesomesauce. Bonus points for saving the associated .swf files.
2: My Topics is getting replaced with a dedicated mod. That means I'm going to look into the possibility of clearing people's notification lists so we are treated less like spammers. I will make a more pertinent announcement about this after the upgrade.
3: I need to shut down the shoutbox in order to archive it. It will be returning better and more powerful (ie, AJAX : ) than before. Don't worry : )
4: The Youtube mod is also getting replaced. With a far superior modification. It looks like it will do a number on the old links though.
5: Since the theme is my own design I'm going to have to recode that (again) - will probably also take the opportunity to redo the chat >_>

That seems to be just about everything from the user end. The upgrade is going to bring the forums down for a -long- time, so I'm going to try to figure out how I can cheat first.

I have that mod going myself - the bookmarks one, works ok but I haven't tested it on anything large scale?
Want some screenshots uploaded of it in use Veks?   I have one with two threads currently in it.

I might have to run the small update from beta 4 over mine this weekend.

Another option to consider in future if you like the idea of it.

Do we really need the shoutbox archive? How often do people actually go back and read anything beyond the last few pages? The archive does back over 2 years. It's approaching twenty-four thousand pages; isn't most of that just wasting space?

I wish I could nab a server from work and get it to you. We've got 4 or 5 fairly new Dell Poweredge Servers sitting around collecting dust. With my luck though I'd get caught, and I wouldn't want to bring on the bad Karma.
