You are a Female Secret Service Agent charged with protecting the First Lady.  I am a Senior policy adviser to the President who is never not far from his side.  We've exchanged glances at each other since before the Presidential elections.  Finding time was tough enough during the campaign to strike up casual conversation, but in our new roles its become even harder.  The President and First Lady are rarely together due to their national and international duties and schedules. On rare occasion we find ourselves at Head of State functions or passing each other in the halls of the White House.  While we both have our suspicions of the others interest, we've never had any real social interaction.

When plans are made for a major visit of the First Family to Europe the White House, Secret Service and Military select an Advance Team to go ahead of the President and First Lady and prepare for their arrival.  While a great deal of time will be spent dealing with international protocols, securing venues, transportation routes and other important matters...the 3 weeks leading to the First Families arrival will be a welcome respite from our typical 24/7 lives.

We realize that we're both on the Advance Team at Reagan International Airport as we check in at American Airlines ticket counter.
