Name: Jack Wallace
Age: 32
Occupation/Last known job: US Marine, Engineer
History:

Born in small town Montana, Jack grew up old fashioned. Back in the woods he learned to hunt, fish and otherwise survive while most kids were in elementary. Two supportive parents sent him to a school in town but many times he didn't go due to having fun with his father. Mother taught him more mundane tasks including how to patch clothes or prepare a meal. All in all during his childhood Jack was taught to be a man who could handle himself.

Come the age 18 he joined the forces like his father before him and his fathers father before him. In the Marines he served in multiple theaters of war including Gulf and Iraq. He spent much of his time in Afghanistan, where he saw and had to do things no sane man wishes to admit. Currently he on leave to see his wife and kids.

Type of victim: Remorseful but has come to terms with his sins.

Dark secret you wish to keep hidden:

In Iraq he was forced to kill a truck full of refugees (Women, men and children) because they failed to stop at the roadblock Jack was stationed at.

Enjoys his job, a little too much.

Acid Lips

Name: Jessica Cooper
Age: 22
Occupation/Last known job: Student
History:

She was born in New York, ever since little she always had a lot of friends and always were very proud of that. Her life was that of a normal teenager girl, loosing her virginity at the young age of fourteen. She was a straight A student and always did her best at everything she did. Her parents died when she was fifteen out of a car accident, she became very depressed for a couple of months before she started to get over it. She went on living with her life and tried her best to forget about her parents and how they died, slowly but surely she made it through the depression.

When she was twenty she witnessed something terrible, a man raping her best friend. He saw how he forced himself on her while she was tied down to the bed, the case went out for a year but never got solved out of lack of evidence. Jessica never revealed who the man was, afraid of what might happen if she did, afraid he might come for her. She tried to be the best friend for the girl who got raped however she didn't reveal the fact that she knew who raped her.
Type of victim: She acts normal however she tends not to talk much about her past afraid of spilling out something that might get her in trouble.
Dark secret you wish to keep hidden: She saw the man who raped her best friend but never said it and the case went unsolved.

Would it help to have someone playing the minor characters who run around but aren't really PCs in their own right (like Maria in SH2)?  Would they fall under monsters or what?
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Oooooh, character sheets are up! I'm still interested, just working on a character in my head. Do I need to use an image for the description, or will words do? I'm not fond of using images for my characters unless I draw them, and I haven't been in the mood to draw for a while now. With any luck I'll have a character sheet up by the end of the day!

That depends on how you want to play him/her. Maria in SH2 DID end up being a monster cause she was born from James' desires (I believe).

Can I make both a monster AND a Victim?

Yes. You can make two characters.

Name: Marie Baeufoy
Type of monster: Trapped Soul
How you died: Killed as a human sacrifice by a crazy cult.
Type of people you like to prey upon/help:Makes no difference who she helps, but she may lead astray if under the influence of an evil spirit.
History: She was a sweet young girl, brilliant in school. She didn't have too many friends and was considered in with the Geek crowd. She loved to read and was generally polite and friendly. Of course she caught the attentions of a local boy whose girlfriend offered her up to a mysterious cult for human sacrifice, what with her being pure and all. Thus the cult kidnapped her and sacrificed her, so she died quite terrified. In death she is not that strong of a fighting spirit, but she provides tips for those who deserve it, though Evil spirits may find it easy to control her.

And May I present, Maria Beaufoy ;)

Let's not forget chris in Code Veronica, he was between these two states, I think that because Chris is a "strong" hero in the games (as opposed to Leon who is a "fast" type) he has also steadily become more buff as his legend has grown with the gamers and development team. The only person with a rep for badassness like Chris is likely Umbrella's own H.U.N.K.

In game reasons are simple, Chris like Jill has survived since the mansion incident, and steadily become tougher and stronger each time. He has done things like climbed the sheer up to the Rockford Island prison from a tiny landing boat with no rockclimbing gear to save his sister.
Basicly going toe to toe with umbrella's BOW's, Zombies, and worse has toughened and bulked him up. Apparently surviving horror games is a great regimin.  ;D

I had a psych horror game going on, made a whole bunch of monsters, and the player quit on me. I'll rummage through my files, maybe present some of the "lesser" monsters for people.

on the note of pyrimid head, from what I've seen he is less of a spirit tied to james and more of a psychological incarnation of a "punisher" for those who believe they need to be punished for their guilt. Notice that each time he's appeared it's been through the lens of the victim because he isn't actually, and was never human. His victim hunted type would be Guilt stricken, guilty but maintains innocence, remorseful. Note that he never actually hunted someone who did not feel like they should, or would be punished.
I might create a monster along those lines
Prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, hope, love...
debate any other aspect of my faith these are the heavenly virtues. this flawed mortal is going to try to adhere to them.

Culture: the ability to carve an intricate and beautiful bowl from the skull of a fallen enemy.
Civilization: the ability to put that psycho in prision for killing people.

I feel the same way about PH. When people moan and complain that he should have only ever been in SH2, I'm just like "Ugh... Shut up before I punch a baby..."

Do people ever think that maybe the monsters that manifest in SH because of peoples' guilt are trapped there as well?!

I rather love Phyramid HEad actually. Fuckign awesome monster. I had a game once where he was in it, he hunted my girl but I used him in a reasoning of The Entity of the Town's head soul catcher.. or something like that. I hope my sheet was alright too <3

I think many of the monsters are manifestations of not simply guilt, but psychological trauma, nurosies, obsessions, fears, guilt, psychosis, and other psychobabble stuff. yes I took psychology... wheee...
I believe that whatever demon/god/great old one, is tied to silent hill likely creates the conditions with the monsters only manifest to, and for, those who have problems.

This was illustrated by one of the few characters not affected by The Mists, the head of the Silent Hill Cult, (he appeared in SH 2) he didn't beleve any of the cult's bull, he was more into studying phenomina and taking financial advantage of the cult's devotion. His sanity kept his perception in reality, while he appared in the "mist world" as a normal human and had a conversation with the game's protaginest.
She percieved the mad cultists as the monsters they'd become, while he, thanks to his sanity, was unaffected, and saw the cultists as human beings (though mad and dangerious humans)

Nearest I can make out there are three sides of Silent Hill, all are mirrors of each other
1. the real world, a relitively small town near a lake, perfectly normal save the aura of creepyness, the real world is mostly safe.
2. the mist world, the first step is more along the lines of "Unsanity" instead of outright madness, this world is where many who are "cracked" in silent hill wind up dissapearing to. Shrouded in cold mists that seem to give shape to fears and psychosies this world is dangerious and inhabited by monsters that are made from twisted flesh.
3. the hell world, in contrast to the cold madness of the world above this world made of metal, rust, flesh, and fire. often with a massive fire somewhere deep below with warm winds of ash flowing. the Hell World is where most of the boss monsters and creatures created by serious problems and traumatic events arise. details are sketchy but I don't think that it's a coinicindance that creatures like "Great Worm", "Pyrimid Head", and "Suture" are encountered here.
Prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, hope, love...
