Red Dwarf Type Idea?

Hi,

I like the idea of having a game where the heroes are stuck somewhere in space trying to get home.

It would be great to have between six to eight "characters" all trying to survive together in the middle of nowhere and falling in and out of lust with each other and with aliens they meet on the way. I would like to think we can make it funny as well as erotic and fun.

There could be tentacles or furries involved alien wise!!

I think it would be easiest to play in free-form and we would all be expected to drive the story.

Anyway let me know people think.

do you think the heroes should awake on the ship and find everyone else dead as in the original or do you think it should just be a shup that got lost manned by fools?

I have just realised though this might not appeal to anyone not english. Though they did try it in the US didnt they with a new cast apart from Kryten.

I believe it flopped.

If you have not heard of Red Dwarf then think small spaceship with funny characters having sex with each other and assorted aliens while they try to travel billions of light years home.

Well it's not quite that they are fools, thought there is a rather anal retentive hologram and a severely damaged sentient computor.
It's more that they aren't really equiped to deal with the flight and control of a mining ship that has got lost somewhere along the way.

Of course Jester, we would have to ammend the cast just a little......*grins*.....but we MUST have Cat in one form or another.....

This is the premise: the crew of a 21st-century deep-space mining ship, the Red Dwarf, are all - bar one - wiped out following a radiation leak. The sole survivor is David Lister, who has been placed in suspended animation for 18 months as punishment for smuggling aboard a pet pregnant cat. Lister remains in stasis for three million years, and when he awakes he has some unexpected company: a hologram of his former shift leader Rimmer, who has retained all the foibles of the master material; the shipboard computer Holly, now showing definite signs of senility; and 'Cat' a strange human-like creature who turns out to have evolved, over the past three million years, from the pregnant moggy - resulting in a sort of feline-sapien. This mismatched assortment proceed to roam the universe, becoming involved - despite their reluctance - in a fantastic variety of weird and wonderful adventures. By the third series the computer personality had been replaced by a new, sparkier version and the crew were joined by an all-too-human-like android, Kryten.

However, it would be up to the GM to decide whether he would allow the character to stray that far away from the premisse.

FYI your comment seemed to border on patronizing...or at least assuming I didn't know the difference.  Hence the snarkiness.  But no, I wasn't intending to patronize you any more than you were intending to patronize me.

And yes, it is up to the GM, but he did say something about our doing something Red-Dwarf-LIKE, not just Red Dwarf.
