Lineups have a way of fluctuating, I'd still throw your hat in the ring for consideration.

Plus if you do a Random Life Path character you won't need to stress over the character building too much as it'll be done for you.

PixelatedPixie

This is what I have tossed together by way of an introduction so far.  It probably needs some polishing, but I wanted to get it up today.

I would prefer everyone is a member of Firewall, but will allow individual characters to not be if requested (though with the added dangers and what not if that is the case).

I don't have a specific player count in mind, I will probably go big but with multiple small groups (grouped on mission/preferred content/etc).  That said, I am far from an expert on Eclipse so patience from everyone would be needed.  I don't want to bring in a co/assistant GM yet, but may in the future once I see what the attrition is like.

Character creation would be Life Path with one set of clearly labeled rolls done using the dicebot here.  Or standard from the core rulebook.  I will probably give some bonus XP/credits after it is all done, but it shouldn't be assumed.  I would strongly prefer if players organize themselves somewhat, whether through shared backgrounds or shared interests.  But reserve the right to reorganize if needed.  If you have the preference towards/away from something or someone and don't want to share in OOC, feel free to PM me.

Discussion about character creation should take place in the OOC thread please: https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=290606.0

There are three main plot hooks, but I may add others if I end up with lots of little groups or what not.  Two of the main plots are similar (dangerous investigation in a hostile area) so I do kind of want to bring in some other angles as well.

Emergency Broadcast: Uranus Orbit
Filter Override Request: High Priority
--Message Starts--
An emergency broadcast has been received from the Scum Barge Glory in Change.  All attempts to clean it up have been made, but heavy distortion remains due to unknown interference.

“Catastrophic failure imminent.  We have been the victim of ***distortion*** sabotage.  ***distortion*** as well as life support.  If possible ***distortion***”

The message cut off before its completion, and was not repeated as is standard protocol.  We have contacted other nearby habitats to cross reference the broadcast, but the interference appears to be near the source.

A rescue mission will be launched from Chat Noir shortly, volunteers are requested.
--Message Ends--

The original broadcast had gone to nearly everyone connected to the mesh in more than a dozen different habitats.  The follow-up message went to far fewer, and was received through standard Firewall channels, encoded and hidden to prevent interception.

“There is something they aren’t sharing, but we aren’t able to classify the threat yet.  Most of the Glory in Change had been Gatecrashing.  They didn’t report anything but a barren moon with a breathable atmosphere, but they were at it for months before they just decided to pack up and go.

We’ve run some preliminary analysis of the logs.  We count twenty-nine sleeves going through the gate, and thirty-one coming back.  No record of any extras being transported, no record of any equipment to produce sleeves being taken through.  If anyone else has noticed, they aren’t sharing.

This is a request to all Sentinels in the area.  We need to investigate the barge, best cover is as part of the rescue mission.  We need to investigate the moon, a research and claim-stake team are heading through shortly.  We need to figure out who is covering for them back on Oberon.”

So we're not allowed to use the backgrounds or factions from Transhuman?

I also echo this question. By 'standard from the Core rulebook' do you mean all of the other books (including such books as the Morph guide) are off-limits?

I also seem to remember reading somewhere in TH that point buy is a little bit less effective than Life Path, so I think there was some small adjustment in available points, but I don't have the books in front of me now or the time to hunt for it.

The initial setup looks like fun! I can envision characters which'd have fun chasing along on the rescue mission, or gatecrashing the moon, or trying to sneak their way around finding out who's not playing fair on Oberon.

Technical question: how are we going to generate characters using the dicebot? How can we clearly label our rolls? Thanks.
It is "Torment". It is that which draws all tormented souls to you. The flesh knows it suffers, even when the mind has forgotten. And so you wear the rune always.

That's a good question I should've asked, I just rolled them all up if ya check my rolls on dicebot.

Sadly there's not a line-up-and-go because so many tables lead to certain other tables, so it's not like you know you can roll 10d100 and be done with it.  You go on a journey, lol

Yeah, it's really variable. I tried right now with some dice rolls on my table, just to familiarize more with Life Path. The result was coherent and believable enough, given the very flexible setting... The test character that came out (not going to ask to use it, since there's no way to check my dice rolls!) is an nonspecialist, very eclectic techie-doctor-something, with an ugly cheap morph and a curious affiliation to the Extropian faction.

Let's wait for our GM's answer, I'm quite curious and very eager to start building the party!  ;D

I dug through Transhuman to find the thing I thought I remembered and hit paydirt. It's at the bottom of p.13 in the sidebar labelled "COMBINING CHARACTER CREATION SYSTEMS."

Quote from: Eclipse Phase:TranshumanismNote that this package system builds characters that are worth 1,100 CP. This is ~20 CP more than characters built using the system in the Eclipse Phase Core Rulebook (when factoring in the free points and background/faction bonuses). If you want it to be completely balanced with the core rulebook, simply remove 20 CP of skills or other attributes from each character created with this system. Alternatively, if some people in your group are using this package system and others are using the system from the core book, give the latter players an extra 20 CP for their characters to make it even.

If people are asking how to use the dicebot, it's pretty simple.

Have it in a second tab (makes things easier), put the number of dice you want to roll in the 'Dice' box and the sides of the dice needed in the 'Sides'. So if you were rolling 2d10, you'd place '2' in the Dice box and '10' in the Sides box.

Then before you do the actual roll (By pressing the 'Roll Dice' button below the boxes, write what the roll is for in the Comment box. This will have the roll you did marked with said comment, so the GM can see by checking your rolls what it was done for.

You can also copy-paste the results you get clicking 'Roll Dice' into your posts. You'll need to do rolls multiple times to make a character up.

I'd be interested in being someone saved by firewall, if that is a concept that would be interesting/allowed.

Maybe some sort of slave that is used to record XP tracks of her being abused, or so desperately turned on to fuck anyone, Uplifts, true non-con etc.  Then these XP racks are sold on the black market.  I don't think rescuing her would be a firewall mission per se, but she could be found while the team is performing their mission?

She'd be mind hacked for sure, but probably has some weird unarmed or combat training to make the XPs interesting before she is defeated.  Maybe ever some tomb raider like shit so she can feel super badass by the person experiencing the XP.

I'm guessing she would be in a pleasure pod, as the wear and tear of a normal biomorph would be problematic and expensive.  She's probably also be a Bonobo uplift, when the sex addiction dialed up a little so the XP had that feeling of desperate core deep need for sex.

This concept may not work with this game, and if not, totes cool.  But I think it would be an interested character with a lot of potential for smut while still (hopefully) being able to work with the team.

There's so much weirdness going on in the universe that almost anything is useful for something.  Sometimes an experienced Pleasure Pod is exactly what Firewall needs to get an agent into somewhere that they need to be!
A&A

PixelatedPixie

The background and factions from Transhuman are fine as long as they work with the default creation rules.  I worded things poorly, but just meant to use the normal rules if you aren't using the lifepath (spend the CP and what not).

To use the dice bot just make sure to comment your roll before you click 'Roll Dice.'  You can set how many sides to roll, so the main thing is just doing that and listing what table you are rolling on.  But yes the downside is you will have to make lots of little rolls instead of one big roll.

I am not using the package system (is why I mentioned core) but rather the default creation rules or the lifepath system.  The Lifepath ones can end up higher or lower than default I believe.

I will have to think on it Eobelle but we could probably make it work some way or other.  The main thing is deciding how to get her involved.  PM me and we can hopefully sort things out.

Eobelle

Eh, it's fine.  I don't need to shoehorn my own preferences into a game designed for something else.  I made a neat character that I can save for another EP game.

Enjoy!  :D

PAC, it does seem like with a score of respondents and people who are actually making characters that maybe this shouldn't be listed as an 'interest check' anymore. :)

There's an OOC thread already here:  https://elliquiy.com/forums/index.php?topic=290606.0

There's a couple folks making characters there  :)

I'm still waiting for Cleric to okay me to continue from Step 9 after I did my rolls past that wrong.

Any room for a pilot type stuck in the sleeve of a p-pod?
