As I am a total noob, I have a question. It's even hard to formulate it, so I'll just write what comes to mind and let you guys decide what is what..!

I have;
Intel Core i7 2600

the game I may or may not play in the future needs;
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ or Intel Core2 Duo E6750 2.66G

and thus the question would be if my CPU is better or worse than asked.

I read it like this 'You need Houiywea97tdig- or ndiahywA98y87t!' *nods*
So, yeah. Help?

Core i7  (2600 - Released Q1 '11) is far more advanced then the Core2 Duo (E6750 - Released Q3 '07)

Unless its some game that is locked into certain spec's and fails on higher spec's - yes I have seen it, your CPU is fine.

Here is a side by side if you want to compare - http://ark.intel.com/compare/30784,52213

Yeah, the core i7 of any type is a great processor and will run anything out today easily.

If you want to test your computer for overall try this website:

http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx

All you do is select the game that you want to play from the list (or one similar to it/better.) Then test your system.  It will tell you if you meet the Processor/Memory/Graphics Requirements for the game.

It gives a lot of information but don't be overwhelmed it will clearly tell you with a graphic if you are able to meet the minimum and suggested requirements for almost any PC game.
