I also allow roll for each level thereafter for hit points.   However,  the players may choose to simply add half hit point allowed for dice type with +1 and con bonus for the level.       Instead of rolling for the hit points.   An it doesn't matter if you roll and decide to use the second option.    The object is your heroes and heroines of the story they're going to embark on.   Unless you specifically want to keep your hit points down, for role play reasons of your character.

We have the same house rule. I prefer to give my characters more survivability as well.

Here is my character sheet and all that info. For gold I rolled and got 160 as my starting, check my roll log only roll I have done.

As for what my character is in the outside world she is an architectural student that is struggling to make ends meet. Will add more later but it is late when I am writing this and need sleep.
