Muse

Good morning Elliquiy.  A few months ago Jayna and I made characters for a third level game of Star Wars Saga Edition.  The game didn't work out, and now we're looking for another chance to play them.  (It doesn't have to be just the two of us, and we can adjust them.)

Let me introduce you to Miyaka Ran, and I'll ask Jayna to introduce you to Melina Kailen.

Name:      Miyaka Ran
Class      Scoundrel 3
Destiny:      Destruction
Species:      Twi’lek

Age:         17
Height:      5’5”
Weight:      121 lbs
Buid:         Sleek and trim with a tiny waist and generous bust.
Skin:         Bright lavender.
Hair:         Lekku
Eyes:      Brown with ebon rims.

Miyaka grew up in a port city of Jord on a world called El--part of a small twi’lek population that had grown up over the centuries from emancipated slaves or their children.
(Slavery was frowned on on El, but legal.  Locally only convicted felons could be embonded, but slaves could be imported from off world.  The children of slaves were, however, always free by national law.)
Intelligent, curious, and mischievous with a healthy contempt for authority, Miyaka had many misadventures as a child, occasionally getting into a great deal of trouble.  She ran with a pack of children who skated on repulsor boards.  When they wanted to skate somewhere, neither locks nor security systems could get in their way.  The older kids taught Miyaka both breaking and entering and slicing, but she quickly surpassed them.  Growing older, her curiosity continued to get the better of her.  Miyaka would slice into secure systems out of curiosity.  She rarely actually stole anything, but occasionally revealed public corruption to the media.
Miyaka’s parents couldn’t control her.  She bonded with her father over the old speeders they would restore together, and loved it when her mother taught her to dance, but otherwise didn’t much care what they thought of her.
Her uncle Marco, however, a veteran of the Sith/Imperial War, was able to hold her attention with lessons in the martial arts and marksmanship.  He instilled her with practical ethics and a good degree of common sense.
When Miyaka graduated from high school (with honors despite her disciplinary record) she applied to study computers and holography on Zeltros.

Revelation

I've been on a bit of a star wars kick myself, so if there's room for a third player i'd be rather interested!

Togashi

I've been looking for some Star Wars fun too. If you guys need a GM I have some ideas and can run it for you. Though I will admit, I would prefer to be a player.

Muse

Well, I'd really apreciate the chance to play, Togashi.

Maybe we should give a GM a few more days to materialze and then see what you've got.

I'm fairly new to the boards, but I've always had an itch to play SWSE--I only got a chance to run it a few times.  I have plenty of experience with gamemastering and Star Wars, although I haven't played on message boards for a long time.  Are you guys looking for particular setting, period, or feel?

Muse

*Grins*

I can't say there's an erra that doesn't work for this girl.  :)

Revelation

I admit I prefer old republic era just due to that being the most open, I feel.

Jayna

I am very open and flexible to whatever era suits you!

dscribe

The 'Rebels' show has put me in sort of a mood for the 'Dark Times' era, I guess.  I understand the desire to be a bit removed from movie stuff though.  I'll have to look over my materials and mull it over.

Muse

  Hm....  :)

The dark times are certainly compatible with my character.  So long as it's not a situation where nothing we can do makes a difference.  :)

*Dances*  I'm very excited for a chance to play.  :)

I think there's plenty of room for heroes regardless of the timeframe!

I'm leaning toward adapting some of the material from Galaxy of Intrigue as a starting point.  Nyriaan is a damp Corporate Sector world shrouded in dangerous fogs and storms that make space travel hazardous, but filled with rare minerals that makes it a hot spot for corporate intrigue.  The draw for the characters is work: someone needs them to investigate missing agents.  The assumption is the Republic, but I'd probably replace them with a mostly benevolent noble house (similar to the Organas) with mining interests on the planet.  It also assumes the usual adventurers-on-a-starship setup, but it would be easy enough to alter that if characters are local residents instead.

I haven't figured out the uh, mechanics of this yet though; I'm going to have to test out the dice-rolling and stuff here.

Muse

Let me know if I can help.

Do you still want us at level three?

Level 3 is probably fine; level 1 characters in d20 games are a bit fragile.  If no one is a pilot I will fill in someone to ferry characters to where they need to be at the outset.

dscribe

OK, so this is what I have so far:

The pitch:

  • STAR WARS: DELUGE!!!
  • On a dangerous mining world, the Corporate Sector Authority is planning to use a dangerous device that threatens an entire world, all in the name of profit! House Pelagia, which has mining interests on the world, has sent undercover agents to put a stop to this.
  • Heroic Level: 3
  • Point Buy: I would say that with a small group, 32 points probably makes sense.
  • Era: The Empire.  The Republic is dead; the Jedi Order is extinct and anyone who uses the Force keeps this fact to themselves. The Rebellion has not yet coalesced into an Alliance; the galaxy relies on small groups of heroes and the efforts of individuals to keep the flame of hope alive.

Adventures often start with characters meeting their employer and haggling, but that seems out of character for Star Wars. Things should start in SPACE, in media res, after an introductory crawl!  Which thankfully can be created online.  :-) I do have the 'mission parameters' typed up so that people have minor details like 'what are we supposed to do' and 'how much are we getting paid', of course, which I'll put in the spoiler tags. While some blaster play is almost sure to take place, I think that stealth, subterfuge, diplomacy, and cleverness all will work well here.

Pelagon is a ruined world. Once, twenty floating cities dotted this oceanic world like lilypads. With the rise of the New Order, House Pelagia was seen as suspect--too closely tied to the fallen Jedi Order. The Empire and House Pelagia's rival houses crushed Pelagia's military, and destroyed all but two of the floating cities. Not only Pelagia's power decimated, but the battle had laid waste to its oceans.  Ninety percent of the planet's species went extinct in the years following the battle.

This is the world where you met your current employer, Del Wheelan.
Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

He is a Human whose hair and beard have turned white with age; he wore blue and gold colors that identified him with House Pelagia, but he demurred at specifying what his blood ties to the family were.  "For now it's enough to know that my House needs talented people--outside talent--on short notice. I've received some good recommendations about you." His compliments were accompanied by an avuncular smile.

"The matter hand is that we need people who are willing and able to track down two of our missing agents on a hostile Mid Rid world. Nyriaan is a... curious place. It has a uniquely volatile atmosphere that, combined with a strong magnetic field, makes landing on the planet a hazardous endeavor. Our agents were working toward the same goal in separate capacities. It seems that the Corporate Sector Authority has been developing a device that can, if it performs as expected, condense all the moisture in Nyriaan's atmosphere into a single, catastrophic rainfall. While that might neutralize the planet's strong ionosphere, it would have the side effect of laying waste to much of the planet surface, as well as killing most of the indigenous lifeforms."

"We are not in the business of allowing such egregious experiments to proceed, regardless of the long-term benefit to our own mining efforts. Our fortunes may have declined, but our honor still means something. We have been trying to put a stop to this project."

"So this is the mission we have for you. Proceed to Nyriaan in the guise of independent workers. Locate our missing agents in the planetary capital city Locus. Determine the location of the CSA's experimental device, and sabotage or destroy it. We will provide you with pay of eighteen thousand credits, plus two thousand for expenses. If you are able to acquire plans for the device, there will be a bonus on your pay."

He pauses for a moment.  "There is a complication, however. One or both of our agents may have been turned. In their last reports to us, each agent claimed that the other was compromised by the Corporate Sector Authority, so you must take care in dealing with them. This is a challenging mission, but if you succeed I see this as the start of a very promising partnership."

What do you guys think?

Nintentoast

Hiiii! I am new, but I was wondering if it was too late for me to join? I got my start in Star Wars RP, so I would like to try to rp it again sometime!

HI there.  It's up to Dscribe, but I'd love to have you.

Are you familiar with the game system aspects? I can help you if not.  :)

If the original posters are fine with more players then so am I.  Within the range of 4-6 characters I think is fine!

Nintentoast

Game system? like Xbox or PlayStatrion?

And thank you! I hope it is fine!

I think he just means the RPG system--we're using the Star Wars "Saga Edition" rules from Wizards of the Coast.  Are you familiar with them?  If not, they're related to (but slightly different than) Dungeons and Dragons D20 rules.

I'm not in a rush to get started, so if you need time or help to make a character let me know!

Muse

4-6 characters sounds perfect to me.

Nintentoast, if you tell me what sort of character you want I can do th enumbers for you.  ; )

Tagan

Huh.  I was thinking about running a little game, but I'd love to join you as a player, Muse.

I seem to have time on my hands.

I was thinking about playing a darkish role for once.  A human Inquisitor apprentice who was left for dead after a group of inquisitors fought Shakti on Felucia.

Now a mercenary, she has decided to avoid the Empire's attention, though she's developed a devil may care attitude since her miraculous survival.  (Carved her way out of the belly of a Rancor, after it swallowed her 'nearly' whole.)

Not really light or darksider at the moment, though precocious with the force, and could tip either way.

(I know the character's a bit of a departure for me.)

Muse

  Nothing wrong with diversity, Tagan!

Hm...  I'm wondering if it ffits a third level character?

But given how hard it is to kill a heroic in this editon?  YEah, it fits.  : )
