If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

A nearby Chinese restaurant was hiring for new people.

I tried to apply a job there, but it was already filled in... by a white girl.

Damn ZK, I'm sorry. You should go for some sort of electronics place. You know how stereotypically Asian people tend to be great with Math and Technology. I'm not trying to be an ass by saying that either. If you're in the market for a job, play to your strengths.

Edit: Your perceived strengths, that is. I'm not saying the stereotype is accurate for all Asians, sorry.

It's not our fault you see, the hallway was anything but clear. We tripped over a bush and went a' tumbling down those stairs.  ::)

It's just ridiculous how much Bush's administration has anally raped the country's economy. I really don't see how Obama, if he managed to win the election, could possibly fix things.

Neither do I, and it's not like he's offered any input as to how he'd actually run the country. I suppose he'll sprout wings and sprinkle Hope dust everywhere, which will magically bring about this fabled Change of which he speaks.

The UK's not in much of a better state oh the joys of a Labour Government. It would seem that between Bush and Blair our countries are falling on their asses and not dragging themselves up again.

What is Blair doing these days anyway? Anytime I watch the House of Commons when it comes on C-SPAN, I always see Gordon Brown having his ass handed to him by the conservative party (which is fine by me)

Not saying it will work or that I support Obama (I don't) but Hope goes a long way.  During the dark ages that's what was lacking in my opinion, hope.  Yes, I know my history, I know what the dark ages really were.  I even wrote a paper on it, thought it was pretty damn good.  But in all honesty, the country feels hopeless. . .a little hope wouldn't hurt.

He's still something to do with the government but I'm not really sure what all I`know is he spends a lot of time in other countries. Gordon Brown is no better than Blair the whole Labour government seem to be allowing the country to fall on it's ass. We've already had Northern Rock fall over and pretty much die, it's a waiting game to see which bank/building society will do it next.

I thought the Dark Ages were Dark because they lacked any significant literary works. Everyone was so busy simply surviving and dealing with the fall of Rome, and the invasion of the Goths, Vandals, Franks, etc., that they didn't have time to do nearly as much writing as previous cultures had been able to do. They're "dark" because we don't know as much about them due to the lack of extant literature from that period. We don't really call them the Dark Ages any more; now it's the Early Middle Ages.

I suppose I'd call them dark too though, if I had to live through the fall of Rome, the invasions of various barbarian tribes, and the reshaping of Europe's political & economic landscape.

The lack of hope I think had something to do with it though.  They were in hard times just trying to survive, they didn't have much hope which led them to be depressed.  This led them to not write or doing anything much in the educational feild at all.  I think had they had hope they would have done more and things would have improved more quickly. . .but that's just my opinon.  The promp for the esay that I wrote was "Where the dark ages actually dark?  Why?  Why not?"  My jump drive fucked up after this class so I don't have it there anymore but I can see if it's still on the net.

No worries. I wasn't disagreeing with your about their lack of hope so much as remarking that there are other reasons we called them Dark as well.

I'll tell you buddy the only reason we're in a "depression" is because everyone is saying it. They blame it on high gas prices so company's only send out a few trucks. But that doesn't get their product on shelves. So by skimping on gas they lose money at market. If they just raised there product ten cents they could get it all out there. They're choking of their own cash flow.

The reason this won't work for those who peddle unessentials is people will stop buying their product, so they are losing still by raising their prices. Raising prices ONLY works for things that are essential and have no substitute. Example, Beef goes up people buy chicken instead, coffee goes up they buy cheaper brands or cut back. The economy IS in a depression, at least here in the United States. Its not just something we are imagining. When I go to the gas pumps, and see that it takes now 50 dollars to fill up when it used to just three years ago take 25, then I see it. When I go to the grocery store and spend 300 dollars on food instead of 150-200 (not buying luxuries) I see it there. When foreclosures are the norm now, I see it there.

Someone else tried to say it was all in our head..was that bush or McCain? Meh I want a NEW candidate to vote for..I have NO clue who I will be voting for as I don't like either one!.

Economy only exists in the minds of people. Take a look at the stock market. Do you think that money actually exists? It doesn't it's all just numbers there's no backing. It is what the brokers say it is. As for gas, simple drill the pipe line or stop giving the Middle East they're wheat so damn cheep. I can eat wheat they can't eat oil. We can work on alternative fuel sources while either of these solutions can be carried out.

No this depression doesn't actually exist because like I said if you kick up circulation it will fix the whole damn thing. I'm telling you it's all because people don't spend the money to get it on shelves you can't buy it if it ain't on the shelves.

It's a recession, not a depression, as far as I'm aware. It is largely because of the high gas prices due to speculation alone. Let me tell you something though, turmoil in the middle east honestly shouldn't affect gas prices because the US gets most of its oil products from Canada.

No the money isn't "tangible" even if it's speculation and numbers but they exist for a reason. Economies (and the stock market) rely a lot on speculation and well calculated risks and benefits as well as other possibilities. However, the speculation on the oil industry's part is really pushing the envelope and moving things in the direction of a recession across North America.

Yep. It's scarily like a casino. I know. Like I said though they can't eat oil.

This is quite a funny argument. Ok, lets get everything way more expensive on the shelves...so it can rot when people choose not to buy the luxury items due to price hikes, and can't afford the basic necessaties.

Do you think that if it was all in the people's minds, that if we could just wave our hands and magically make a sensible alternative fuel it wouldn't be done?

I know that Bush doesn't seem to think these things through but I can gaurantee if it were as simple as "Just jack up the price. Common peoplecan afford it, because we are al just imagining these hard times" they would have done so bynow. Trust me.
