Xandria

A royal request to show our respect, we follow and offer polite bow of head

On the dolphin we ride through a cavern of crystal, a labyrinth of mystery and wonder

(Yes I remember the coin one!  I love caves too, especially those breathtaking underwater ones where you have to be an expert diver to even think about attempting it!)
The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself. -Oscar Wilde

Charm is a way of getting the answer yes without having asked any clear question. - Albert Camus

Vaulted as in a whelk sometimes, the crossing tunnels lead us yonder

Holding onto your waist, glimpsing roof frescoes of ancient ladies

You should read Thor Heyerdahl's book about his expedition to Easter Island in the fifties. He didn't come in one of his own craft at that point, but it's a great book and there's a wonderful chapter about his descent into the deep volcanic caves of the island, undertaken with a few others and a few local guides - some of these were women. Those tunnels were formed by magma and volcanic gases tens of thousands of years ago and then left empty, and they go deep into the heart of the island, apparently no one knows how deep. In unrestful times the natives used to take shelter there.

Graceful figures with flowing hair, depicted as kneeling with offerings to Hades

We stop in front of a crumbling temple, your hand I grab, mermen motions us forward

Thanks, I will check that book out for sure!  I did manage to visit some caves in New Zealand years ago, and I loved it, though they were fairly shallow and geared to tourists. There are some in the Pyrenees I'd love to see as well, and that is definitely on my bucket list of things to do.

Causing the mind to weave and bob, as reality twists and swerves

The lights, they grow to thick proportions, filled with electric veins

This stretching of limits taxes the mind, the concept of reality strains

But if we follow these dazzling pulses, a wondrous truth reveals

Bowing their heads, they reply in ancient tongue, word for word,

And a surge of waves now rushes in, halted briefly by the priestess's glance

(I know word doesn't fully rhyme with Lord, oh well, it works fine in writing...)

Lord and Priestess touch their brow, such a regal stance

This precious oath the two not knowing, how forever it would bind

A sculpted ancient galley, oars rimmed with corals, petrified, half overweeded

As if fit into the rock, with a gaping hollow on its deck, no hatch no lock,
A softly glowing blue light seems to spread from below, their hands folded tighter as they behold

Mermaids and creatures ascending and descending
