I'm having trouble getting My DvD drive to run a game.

I first clicked on the dvd icon, I got an error like this.

"E:/

Only part of a readproccessedmemory or writeprocessmeory request was completed"

I went online and Google suggested I change my secondary IDE controller to accept PIO only. I did that, now I get a different message.

"The application or DDL E:\system\Windows.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check against your installation diskette"

... Which doesn't help me at all. Google has been less than forthcoming. Can anyone here help?

I should note my computer has been updated, virus-scanned and cleared of spyware. It has also been recently error-checked.

Edit: I'll also note that the E:drive is the only one hooked up, and can run other dvds and cds just fine.

That can suggest a corrupted file (did you scratch the top of the disc?), but "Only part of a readprocessmemory or writeprocessmemory request was completed" on a DVD Drive (which probably does support UDMA) makes me think 'copy protection'.

This can be caused by the software detecting 'advanced' CD applications like Nero, Alchohol, Virtual Daemon, etc.  Or possibly an older DVD drive that doesn't support the latest and greatest feature.

Thanks Vek! Turns out there was a chip on the disk. Returned it for a new copy.
