Lustful Bride

(After listening to the Jeff Wayne War of the World Musical some of the BSG soundtrack, and finding an old book of mine while unpacking I found myself drawn to the idea of a Scifi human/alien war with some Hard Science concepts and soft Scifi concepts tossed in. It is basically an altered version of the book that I found but with some things added in and changed about. I tried to leaver enough things vague but with the general plot and idea solid enough to provide a framework. As always I have tons of ideas but not enough skill to actually run them so if anyone wants to take it off my hands, feel free.)

In the year 2012 the world was stunned by the sudden appearance of an alien ship from behind the moon. It was massive, easily larger than the State of Texas, with many smaller ships soon leaving the main body. While mankind struggled to recover from the sudden revelation that we were not alone in the universe, the alien ships began to take position over the Earth, with the larger one landing in the Pacific ocean as the smaller ones positioned over tactically important positions and began a bombardment as they broadcast a single message over and over again over every frequency.  'Surrender or Die.'  The invaders had no further demands, and did not even bother to give their names. They began the invasion by dropping bombs on positions they deemed suitable and then coming down to land ground troops.

The Panama canal was heavily damaged in the bombardment, later taking a decade to repair, and crippling international trade and supply lines for the Humans. While the Suez Canal thankfully remained free of much damage allowing for the flow of fuel to continue, feeding the Human war machine. NORAD only hung on by a thread, while DC itself was left a smoking mess. Several other cities around the world were left in shambles as the invaders touched down. At first many wondered why the aliens did not just outright exterminate mankind with an engineered plague, or nuke us into oblivion. But as the war dragged on we soon learned why.

This was not a war of extermination, but subjugation. Those civilians or soldiers captured by the aliens were eventually put to work in slave camps. They mined minerals for the invaders, grew their food, or were even prepared with lessons on how to mine resources on the other planets and asteroids within our solar system. The Earth was to be used as a farm, or staging area, for the colonization and mining of the rest of the Sol System and other nearby worlds. The invaders were planning to use our species as a renewable source of labor. It wasn't until after the first invasion was defeated that we learned their entire society, their caste system, was built upon the subjugation and enslavement of lesser species, building them an empire that spanned many star systems. As minor lords and statesmen used their slaves as toys and pawns in their political games to build themselves a stronger power base and acquire more influence.

While our enemy was content trying to break us and force us to do their labor for them, we were coordinating with one another, making our strikes where we could, adapting our enemy's technology for our own uses, liberating slave camps, and understand our enemy. Mankind had done many horrible things to its own brethren over the years. Wars, Genocide, even slavery. So when a more terrible enemy came knocking at our door, we were all too happy to use our cruelty against them. There was no Geneva convention for the aliens, giving free reign to interrogators, scientists and frontline soldiers, to do whatever was necessary to win and uncover the alien's secrets.

We learned that they collectively called themselves the Klikken, that they had a measure of fusion technology, and while they had a method to travel the stars at faster than light speeds, FTL travel was very expensive, unreliable and rare in their empire. So if mankind managed t defeat the invaders on their homeworld, then the Klikken response could be anywhere from several hundred years to a thousand, giving the Humans plenty of time to rebuild and prepare for their return. So with this news passed around, the people of Earth unleashed their fury upon the alien slavers with a ferocity never seen before on Earth.

The Klikken had finally found a race as violent and war hungry as they were. One that had committed horrible atrocities upon its own race in the name of everything form God, to Money, to simple psychotic Rage. Small yield nuclear weapons were used when necessary, alongside other WMDs, weapons that released lethal chemical and biological payloads, along with deadly white phosphorous for good measure. There was no limit to the harm the Humans could incur upon the aliens. They were struck on every front and given no quarter. Few prisoners were taken and the only time the humans slowed their push was to liberate slaves or capture vital technology. Within three years of the conflict beginning the aliens decided that enough was enough.

Given the costs of invading this world and the ferocity of the locals, it just was not worth their trouble. They were going to leave and return with a larger force at some point. But they would not leave empty handed. Slave camps far from the battle lines were emptied out and almost two million humans were taken aboard the mother-ship as it departed. While this was a great loss of human life and nearly irreparable damage to its infrastructure, humanity celebrated the aliens being forced off of their cradle world.  Even though many where missing and there were still a few Klikken holdouts to clear, the day the Mothership left was declared a day of victory. Without the threat of the mothership constantly weighing down on them the earth forces had an easier time dealing with the last Klikken holdouts, and soon mankind was on the road to reconstruction and even expansion, thanks in part to the new technology they had taken from the invaders.

Without a real threat hanging over them, Humanity spread out through the Sol system, getting access to a gold mine of resources to rebuild and improve upon their world, helping their species spread its wings and plan for the future. It was only inevitable that their enemy would return, seeking to take vengeance for the bloody nose they had been given on Earth. And while many were content to simply sit back and wait for the aliens to come, others knew that if we did not fight the Klikken on their own turf, then we would be fighting them at home. With what data they had taken from captured enemy ships, and prisoners, they planned their assault to buy time for Earth to build up its might and to expand to other nearby systems, while a few brave souls volunteered to go to the enemy's worlds and wreak havoc, keeping the invaders eyes away from the little blue sphere known as Earth.

In 2118 a military expedition was planned and built. With the best and brightest of Humanity enlisting on what they knew was a one way trip, to go and take vengeance for countless souls lost during the invasion one hundred years ago. It was the culmination of a decade worth of preparation. Building the best ships possible, for a long voyage that would take an invasion force out into the void, where they would separate into three groups. It would be a long journey, and they might never return home, but it was deemed a necessary risk. The three strike groups would be hitting different locations within the Klikken empire, striking at their interests and hopefully causing a slave uprising, strengthening the human's position and delaying retaliation strikes.

A grand celebration was held before sending off the invasion force from the shipyard on Pluto, where the fleet took off into the darkness on the coordinates that were gleamed from enemy intel. It would be a long journey for everyone, one that would span multiple human lifetimes, and the ships crews spent the majority of it safely secured in stasis, frozen safely in ice only to awaken every 12 years for a medical inspection and to ensure there were no problems with the ship. As the years piled on, some couldn't handle the stress and suicides became a common occurrence. But this was planned for, and the lost lives were within acceptable parameters for the mission. The rest were given a proper check up and sent back into stasis for the rest of the trip.

In 2308, the day finally came, as the ships separated mid flight and moved to their preprogramed invasion routes. Strike Force Cerberus would be heading to a low level priority in comparison to the other two. The Assault ship 'Thunderchild' is in the lead, preparing to hit a major mining operation run by the Klikken. Alongside it will be the Destroyer Concordia, and the Cruiser Yukikaze. They will cut off a source of Klikken materials in this star cluster, using those resources for themselves, and helping further the fleet's goals at harming the enemie's goals.

F.L.A.I.R.* troopers will be deployed ahead of the main invasion force in an attempt to soften up the Klikken occupation and slave drivers. They will be striking deep into the heart of enemy territory, and raising hell wherever they can while the main invasion comes. But they wont be doing it alone. There are many Klikken slaves who have dreambt of this day, the day where the slavers would be kicked from their throne. As strange aliens descend from the sky, even those terrified to utter word of rebellion see their first true chance at hope, and many of the elders among the slave camps, speak of the dawn of a new age, a glorious Age of Liberation.
