I'm looking for a very specific type of RP partner here. Here's a little test:

If you think that the piece that looks like a horse is a "horse"--uh, no.
If you know the pieces' proper names and how they move--*drool*
If you know how to "castle kingside" and "castle queenside"--TAKE ME!

If you read Ra5+ as "R, A-5, plus sign"--uh, no.
If you know that "exd6" is read "e takes d6"; a capture move--*drool*
If you can write the moves of both White and Black in notation--TAKE ME!

If you think chess pieces move like checkers do, like, duh--uh, no.
If you know what that Jonathan Poe kid did wrong in the final scene of Searching for Bobby Fischer, and what Waitzkin did right--*drool*
If you know what the Schleimann Defense is, and have done it--TAKE ME!

As you can see, this story's about chess just as much as it is about mating...

I have a confession to make: I only started learning how to play chess within the past few weeks. I've never won a game, either in real life or on the computer, but at least I know enough to avoid all the "uh, no" pitfalls. You are "in like Flynn" as far as I'm concerned!
