I don't think that's true. Tabitha and Toya only have minor medical skills. The team will still need a proper medic.

Yeah I get that, but it is literally the only thing she can do. If immediate medical attention can be given by 2 more Elise is only going to be useful in very extreme and specific situations ^^

Maybe I'll have another think about my character then, since you were the first to post a medic, you deserve to get that role. I did try to fill a niche that nobody else had with the whole scientist-who's-cracked-the-abortion-thing. But it's tricky isn't it, because these are ordinary women, so it's not like assembling a combat team where you can say "right we've got an assault specialist, a sniper, a heavy weapons guy and a chopper pilot already... I'll make a saboteur"!

Agreed with toby, Tabitha and Toya only seem to be able to help in specific circumstances. Not to mention Tabitha's mixture sounds like it's pretty toxic and could kill the woman too if they take too large of a dose. Though I do understand wanting to branch out a little as well.

And forgive my greed a little bit, but I can kind of see the start of a plot arc already. The basic idea is that a Golden Boy gets into the encampment of the survivors, and due to the relatively subtle and insidious nature of his abilities he successfully rapes and impregnates multiple members of the group before he's killed. [I'm picturing killed by Mimi but not until after he's raped at least Toya and Billie, plus whoever else volunteers. :P]

And wouldn't you know it they have a Doctor on hand that can perform abortions, but only have the supplies to do one...

Update - Apologies to all my partners, real life is exploding and I've gotten far behind.

That's good. Another more plenary solution to the character-clash might be if I create a whole other character, who can be the person Tabitha is travelling (mentioned in her bio) with when she meets the group.

Tabitha brings the formula for the abortions, but is killed in the very first attack. She leaves behind the materials for this formula, as well as the instructions, and it falls to Elise to have to take over and be the one to administer this complicated procedure.

I would continue using the second character I'll create.

Would that make you feel more comfortable keeping your medic character, Dominique?

Lol, your greed is forgiven. Toya does have limited medical skill, like most police officers. Her niche is weapons usage and strategy.

Sorry, got distracted by work  ^^ What I meant is that my character really has only one skill,  which means that she's only going to be useful when someone gets hurt and would spend the rest of the time hanging out doing laundry or something ;D I just feel like, while she's gonna be the only one able to perform surgery,  that's not going to happen very often and I need to rethink what she's gonna do the rest of the time! You don't need to remake your characters for me, honest. I just. .. want to make my own more capable I guess.

Sirian Eve

It would be helpful if some characters knew about plant medicine and technology. I was going to add that my characters bio, but decided to stick to those few things.

Oh I really do like the idea of plant medicine knowledge.  You know, if no one else wants it ^^

Hmm, a farmer's daughter who knows how to swing a shotgun? ;)

If you're happy to do that, then by all means do it. I already wrote up a new character - an ex criminal specialising in stealth. I'll put it to the room whether they'd prefer me to keep Tabitha, Gemma or both:

Name: Gemma Hickman

Age: 26

Skills:

Stealth: Gemma has a unique knack for moving from one place to another completely silently, utilising the shadows and slipping through seemingly impossible tight spaces. In the past, this skill included the ability to pick pockets, locks and hotwire older cars, but there’s not that many people left to thieve off these days…

Skirmishing: Her history means that she’s been taught to use weapons to quickly bring a dangerous situation to a close. This is not the same as combat training. She’s not familiar with combat tactics or the skills necessary for a sustained tactical engagement. She knows how to fire a weapon quickly and accurately to create an opportunity to escape.

Background: Gemma belongs to a family of travelling organised criminals. From a young age she’d been privy to all sorts of grifts and scams. This has frequently included encounters with rival families and gangs, so she’s no stranger to life-threatening situations. When the Night of Lust occurred, things changed dramatically of course. All the men in her family transformed. If the women of the family weren’t such a touch bunch it was unlikely any of them would have survived. As it happened, they had the means and the fortitude to put all of the men down.

Going on the run, the reduced family group assumed new identifies, not wanting to risk happening upon any law enforcement folks who remembered their family name. This worked out pretty well for them for a long time. They got an SUV, a bunch of guns and supplies and moved from town to town seeing what else they could gather. At one point they found a group of survivors with a pretty sweet set-up, but instead of joining them, the Hickman family attempted to take over. The ensuing confrontation served only to attract the attention of some especially nasty monsters. Proving there is no justice in the world, the survivors already in the camp were all killed or impregnated, and most of the Hickmans got away…though Aunt Kimmy was caught and raped before the others managed to shoot and kill her assailant.

Moving on to the next city, the Hickmans met a scientist by the name of Tabitha who claimed to have a formula to abort monster-induced pregnancies. Seeing the usefulness of this woman, they allowed her to join them for a while, until the next attack killed everyone except Gemma and Tabitha and left them in a fresh new heap of trouble…

In that specific situation, it may be good tp have a character who could perform a risky surgery to save the other women by removing the pregnancies directly.

You know, before Mimi decides to just carve it out with her knife...  ;D

Also alternative, instead of a doctor or anything medical, the one team members could be chemist with bit bio knowlegde which helped create the anti-abortion liquid (which is dangerous but effective in doing abortion). Or as Toby suggested she runs two chars; one brings formula but wounds up killed in monster attack and formula is passed on (while she focuses more to her second char).

tobisquestion

I'm happy with any of those scenarios.

I love Tabitha, but your thief is so cute I just kinda want you to write both ::)

Before anyone takes stock of where we are, I'm gonna pull out of this one so don't count me in. The preparation has just plodded along so slowly that I've not confidence the RP won't just flop down on its face after I put loads of effort into opening posts. Not blaming the GM for having a busy life, but maybe sometimes it's better to just be realistic about whether you're gonna be able to afford the time before trying to start up a group RP. Sorry. Feel free to use my characters for NPCs or early-death victims or suchlike.

Well, tobi's feelings aside. I am still looking forward to this game.

I had a thought for a character that could take the position of the group's chef, if we need another survivor.

Are you sure? I get that it's taken a little while but everyone has their busier and quieter weeks and it IS summer. That, and I really love your characters, so please reconsider :(

Well if that's  how you feel....

My patience endures. Whenever the GM is ready.

Taking a tally in the first post.  Will be up in a few minutes.

I'm really sorry for the wait.  This week had me closing at work and since it was busy, I ending up staying late at work.  Also, I don't want to rush this as I have created games before that have been rushed and they never went beyond the first few weeks.

But I think we have a good starting number, leaving one room in case tobisquestion decides to come back.

And it will be best to start with basic monsters anyway.  The first part of this game will mostly be an intro to the world and the first encounters with monsters.

The first "episode" will consist of survivors taking a tally of their dwindling supplies and have to leave the safety of the bunker to scavenge.  Of course, bad things happen . . .

I'm going to work on setting up the Game Threat and OOC thread sometime today.  I will post the rules on the OOC thread again.
