As the name implies by itself, this will be a massive collaboration of all of the big sci fi/space epics that we are all familiar with.  Original characters, canon versions, it's all up for grabs in this as well as tech, ships, weapons, and races among other things.  Story is incoming now, check visual feed for details.  (I had to say that lol.)

The Federation of Free Peoples has formed and has called its first meeting of every race and creed that exists among our stars and beyond.  Representatives from every sentient species from every corner of the universe will gather at Zeta Prime in two weeks, pending this transmission.  Participation will grant your home world votes (as well as other boons) in important matters ranging from diplomatic solutions to declarations of war.  Please do not be late and make sure to be scanned, vaccinated, and hand in your Identification Profiles as soon as you arrive at Zeta Prime Capital Station, orbiting the Arbiter Moons in the center of the Eden Galaxy.  While it is not required, participation will help the Free Peoples to help your race if a crisis should ever arise if we have whatever information you are willing to share and have stored within our data banks for future references.  We thank you for your cooperation and wish you a safe journey.

A copy of the Identification Profile is attached to this official document.  Please read thoroughly and return ASAP.  We hope your stay within Zeta Prime Capital Station is a pleasant one.

What I plan to do is this.  The PCs will arrive at the Capital Station as planned, but your respective ships will go for a few posts so as to set up your character and whoever you might be traveling with at the time.  NPCs are ok if needed.  Once we arrive at the Capital, then we have our big welcome to the galaxy thing and hope no one decides to be an ass and raise hell and/or try to sabotage the thing to cause all out war lol.  I'd like to avoid this if at all possible, because what I hope to do is have a small task force or group of sorts to act as peace keepers, kind of like the Spectre Unit from Mass Effect you might say if you want to think of it that way.  We won't have above average access like they did though, but we won't be pushed around so easily either.  Anyway, I'm done talking your ears off, let's hope this gets going shall we?  We have a universe to explore.  Ship pictures are welcome and we can debate whether or not we are going to stick to one or have a bunch of smaller ones momentarily.

Weaponry - Typical sidearm/weapon: Gravity-powered mass drivers called 'pulsers'.
Prolong - gene-based life extension treatments. Old people look young and stay young for a long time.
Treecats - one of the Honorverse's tiny handful of sentient non-human species; they occasionally form an empathic link with a receptive human.
Impeller Drive - sublight propulsion
A Courageous-class light cruiser - almost all ships share near-identical geometries, varying in size/mass.

They're good reading IMO, though beware of the occasional infodump. Weber loves his infodumps, at least in the earlier books.

The book page I linked to has the main series listed in the upper left hand corner, starting at On Basilisk Station down to Mission of Honor. The other books in the left-hand columns are companion novels, giving the spotlight to side characters in plots that run concurrent with the main story arc, and the four short-story anthologies.

Oh I noticed that but thankfully Honor's specially tailored shoulder pads protect her from said claws lol.  I'm more observant usually when it comes to that kind of thing lol.  "Oh look, a little cat with claws long enough to tear your face off."  Lol.

It's not the length you worry about, it's the fact that they have twenty-four of them, little shaving razors or shark's teeth attached to what one character describes as a "berzerk buzz-saw" if the 'cat is in a killing frenzy. Ouch?

Racial Traits/evolutionary path/customs/traditions etc;  Humans are the most diverse in every aspect of the word.  Multiple views of how the universe works, where the soul goes after death (provided there is a belief in such an incorporeal state), race, creed, values on family, friends; everything about humanity is wrapped in variables to every side of the spectrum.  To understand them, one has to observe them.  They range from size, shape, build, hair color, skin color, eye color, and their personalities are just as diverse.  There is no way to define such a race that is so different from the rest without adding pages upon pages of text and data, but there is a few things of note that can be easily put into this section of the Galactic Compendium.  One, that the strong don't always prey on the weak, some even forming very tight family groups with one male to one female who is sometimes made to bear many children or not, depending on how the family group is set up during the dating and mating rituals practiced by this species.  If the family ties are strong, many years of prosperity for such a group bound together by love and compassion is almost assured, provided no outside stimuli or tragedy in general hits, and even then not all hope seems to be lost.  Humans have the unique tendency to fight on no matter the odds if they possess an incredible strong minded and stubborn in their personalities, making them quite tenacious when the need calls for it.  Their technology level alone is proof of this considering the many stumbles and failures they had to deal with over their existence.  If not for the discovery of FTL, they would have never reached beyond their own solar system and then been allowed to join the rest of the known universe in which they seem quite able to adapt to at will, given enough time and resources.  Out of all the races, humans are the most resilient and sometimes, possibly, the most dangerous as well considering their equal tendency to both create....and destroy.

Those words still echoed in John's mind as he suited up for the first official mission he had as a Spectre Operative for the Council stationed at Zeta Prime Capital Station, a moon sized fortress and trade center for the entire galaxy, also his home and he would do everything in his power to defend it from enemies without and within.  That is what being a Spectre, and a damn good one he hoped, would be all about.  Ten years of the most grueling training he'd ever had saw him through the fires and trials on several missions in his life, (being Prolonged had helped.)  He was a direct descendant of the famed hero, (some would say god but they were radicals and small thankfully,) and so pressure had been put on him since the day he was born to be the best he could be for every known species that traveled the stars for their own reasons.  Joining the defense teams that had been assigned to defend the ambassadors on their way to the Capital was a good start to John's eyes and mind...

If I get enough people for this, I'll add a Galactic Compendium of sorts in a separate thread so that characters, races, and other pertinent information can be easily accessed while leaving the OOC clear for more story related topics.  All of this will probably go into EX since I am not sure what way this story will go once the missions start and all that.  I like to keep my options open where possible.

Bio: The Rak'Cajear are a war like race. They hunt other races to near extinction purely for the fun of it. They are very combative, and live for the drive of battle, being obsessed with personal strength as well as dominance as a race. Their planet is small and lack resources, but it turned out not being such a problem since they can easily get what they need from other worlds. Their form, both their bone structure and their muscle mass, makes them much stronger than typical similar sized creatures. They can crush a human with a single hand. This allowed them to show their dominance early on.

Their technology is somewhat advanced, but their wisdom is mostly put to use for combat. Their world is often ravaged by plagues, and management issues, leading to millions of death. Because of that, their race is not very numerous. However, any time they conquer a new world they take care to bring in not only slaves for menial work, but also scientists and engineers to integrate that race's technology to their own. By using that strategy, their ships are now formidable, and rival most ships out there, using many different parts from all over their own galaxy.

Their society is ruled by strength. The uncontested leader of the 1.5 million of their race is voted by the War Council. It usually falls to the oldest warrior on the council who then stays until death. Shakar is a member of the War Council, responsible for the slaving forces, the people who actually come in and establish their dominance over a conquered planet, once most of the population has been exterminated by the hunting forces. She is currently considered the strongest warrior of the Council, and will likely succeed to their current leader when he dies.

Shakar's outfit is a mesh of very resistant leather and metal parts, which contains various strength and mind altering devices, giving her advanced agility, strength, reflexes and speed. It also has tubes with a liquid that can sustain her for weeks, also reducing her need for sleep or rest. The ship she uses is of medium size, very ugly, full of parts from different worlds, with some of the best weapons available, including blasters and torpedoes. The ship has a crew of 12. Shakar is the one in control, and the other 11 are slaves, which is typical for a Rak'Cajear ship. Most of her crew are engineers and technicians who maintain the ship. They are ruled by fear and brute force, and have served her against their will for many years now.

When the Council receive word of such an important meeting, they didn't really know who to send, but Shakar volunteered, since she has had the most contact with other races.
