Katherine sighed as he walked down the trail, fox ears atop his head twitching to sounds of the plains around them, four  darkorange tails down at his knees, twitching impatiently as he watched the forestcome into view up ahead. He scratched at old grey cotton shirt he had on, the left sleeve ripped at the elbow, the other extending over his hand. His left fingers kept fiddling with the weapon at he side, a sickle attached to a chain with a heavy ball weight on the otherside. He shoeless feet continually scuffed the ground, giving off a scraping sound as they threw dirt up on his brown jeans, making them a darker hue where the dust stuck to it. Bright green eyes scanned the horizon, alert but uniterested, dark orange bangs kept getting in the way of his vision, the slightly messy hair more trouble than it was worth some times. He sighed once again, blowing the strand of hair out of his eyes. He looked back at the two who had come with him, unwanted, but for the amount of money he was being paid, he wasn't going to say no. He wondered though if they could handle themselves in the forest and ruins. He was in it for the money, he knew nothing of these two yet. "So why'd you two have to come out here, I could have taken care of whatever needed to be done out here without having to drag you two around." he said, walking backwards as he looked at the two.

Sora

She stepped noiselessly through the underbrush, keen elven ears on the alert for predators and prey alike, her bowstring taught, the arrow long since knocked and ready. Her earth toned tunic and pants blended her into her surroundings, the dirt smudges here and there a great help. The only thing that gave Somiel away as a creature not of the forest was her long, red hair and bright, green eyes. Not to mention her pale, sparsely-haired skin.

Without thinking, she shot a glare at the noisy one ahead of her. He spoke. She gave no answer save a small shake of her head. She hoped he understood her meaning.

Kat sighed as she remained silent, never having been one for silence. He doubted they'd run into anything out here in the plains that being quite would save them from, but turned back around, tails now twitching agitatedly in the silence. I've never understood why elves are so serious most o the time, they live almost as long as we do, you'd think they'd find a way to enjoy themselves, he thought to himself, hearing a party of trolls of a good ways away, more than likely celebrating a successful raid. So long as I don't have to deal with them, I could care less what they do, he looked back at the elf nodding towards the direction the trolls where at, doubting she'd respond if he talked to her, from her previous actions.

Sora

She nodded once to show she understood, absently wondering what had gotten him so agitated, then shrugged. "They haven't attacked us," she murmured, confident her voice wouldn't reach the trolls' ears over their merry-making.

((It's cool. I took a nap earlier, too.))

Looking at these two with slitted eyes, she knew one would be lunch if she wasn't careful. Better not to say much, she told herself. Still her feisty little attitude got the best of her and she blurted out, " Look, you got your money, I suggest you just get moving." Staring steely into his eyes until he turned to leave. She then darted a glance at the red haired girl, who fell in behind the Kitsune.  It was then they came upon the trolls. Sitting on the forest floor she waited while their guide decided what would be best. Pulling some berries off a near by bush she offered one to the red haired girl.

Kat smiled as the other girl replied, I could have fun toying with her, short temper and a quick mouth, always good for some entertainment. he thought, chuckling. "Just how much do you know of kitsunes anyways, we never do anything for material gain alone, though it helps." he said, patting the first half of gold he had been given to escort them, quietly, moving past the camp of trolls, hearing the sickening crack of the bones snapping between their teeth. "You wouldn't even have a guide had I not been bored, though right now, giving you to the trolls seems more entertaining than hauling you and little Miss Robin Hood over  here through the forest." he said as they left the trolls camp behind them, hoping the meal they had would tide them over, though he doubted it. He heard one of the trolls roar a challenge at one of the others, over leadership, food, a female, or the newest shiny rock they had found. "And that might happen wether I want it to or not, they'll be looking for food to celebrate whoever wins that challenge as well. and there aren't many places to hide in these plains." he said, ears twitching towards the sounds of the trolls fighting carrying over to where they were currently at, moving farther and farther from their camp.

Sora

She eyed the bright red berries, suspicious of their color and the plant they'd been picked from. "No, thank you," she said carefully, hoping not to offend. They continued, the one with furry ears and a set of tails making idle chatter with the saucy one. She smiled, padding silently along in her worn leather boots, just grateful that neither of them had decided to attack the trolls simply because they were trolls.

"Where are we headed, exactly?" she asked, peering up at the darkening sky. "The Guild Master wasn't very specific."

Katherine sighed, suprised that she had taken the job without knowing what she was getting into. "My my, you are naive aren't you, I geuss the guild is having to take in younger canidates to keep up with demand with all the discoveries lately, you can't be...what...2, 3 hundred years old, barely more than a child." he said as he scanned her figure, smirking, "Not that I'm complaining, I'd just prefer the bueaty to have a bit of brains." he said, walking along silently for a few seconds before spining around quickly, walking backwards once again, staring at his two charges, his tails helping him keep balance as they swayed back and forth. " I have been told to lead you two into the forest, where there were supposedly recently found ruins from the anceints of old, as of yet untouched. We need to go in and look for anything that looks like it could be useful, and hope its not the ancients equivalant of a childs top, seeing as I doubt any of us have a great knowledge of Aceints technology. Unfortunately, it more than likely has all it's traps operational, which can range from simplle sleeping spells to animated statues, do be on your gaurd." he said as they stopped outside the forest, moving aside and giving a mock bow, "Ladies first."

Sora

She raised an eyebrow. "I'm ninety-six," she informed him, brushing past into the trees. She smiled, glad to be back in the forest, even if it was a bit stuffy and dim, no matter the time of day. "And I prefer the term 'trusting,'" she mused, scanning the trees for danger before moving again. Her feet picked a careful path nearly by themselves.

Kat's eyes widened slightly as she told him her age Wow, that would make me over 3 hundred years older  He thought, watching as she went into the forest smirk growing as he watched her, Maybe I should stay in the back, somebody has to watch the rear for attacks he thought to himself, tails wagging slightly, before lookingback at the other girl, "So what are you waiting for spunky, get in."

Sora

"What? No wise-crack about how young I am to be wander-lusty?" she asked over her shoulder, eyes and weapon still in front.

He probably doesn't know what wander-lust is... I wouldn't expect a human to know; why would a strange animal hybrid have any idea about my people? she wondered silently, How did he get that way, anyway? I'd be willing to bet it was some kind of spell-related mishap.

Kat looked over at the elf smiling as she talked to him. "Haha, I could care less what kind of lust you have right now, we can take care of that after we get finished with this job," he said leaning against the tree. He was teasing her, wanting to see how she reacted, and if she agreed, though he doubted it, elves were always so...vigorous, his smile widening at the thought. "Though we should probably take a rest here, it's the last chance we will get to be moderately safe before entering the woods. So if you want, we could take care of your problem now instead." he told her, grinning smugly.

(Gonna give princess a chance to post when she gets on, so don't go in/)

Sora

((Okey-doke.))

She stopped short of the line of trees and pivoted in a slow about-face. "Good idea," she agreed flatly, "We should wait for sunrise." Reluctantly, she calmed her itching fingers and replaced her arrow into its quiver and her bow over her shoulders. She sat where she was, crossing her legs and wiggling into a comfortable position in the grass beneath her.

Breathing deeply, she prepared to enter her trance-like state of rest. She took inventory of the day, and became more acutely aware of her surroundings. The sun cast dyes out across the sky and the breeze rustled the leaves on the trees above her. Crickets chirped from their hiding places in the grass. She took all this in, noted it, and simply breathed.

She watched the berries fall from her hand when the red haired girl refused them. She looked up and extended her hand, My name is Yezall. She felt the warmth of blood in the girl's veins when she hesitantly placed her hand briefly in her own. It reminded her of how hungry she was. When the others got up to leave she hung back and stayed quiet. She found a troll alone searching in the woods and drank her fill of the bitter, sour blood knowing it would make her sick later. He howled when she released him and fell motionless to the forest floor. At least she had saved her companions for now. She caught up quickly so as not to be missed.  They were talking about what lay ahead. She had her own agenda they didn't know about. The only reason she was there was to find a medallion said to be in these ruins that would sate forever her need for blood. She only took humans if there was no other choice. She hoped it wouldn't come to that.  They finally stopped to rest and she could feel her stomach start to churn. She moved a few paces away and was sick.

Kat watched as the other girl went off, coming back and throwing up, "Nice, probably shouldn't have eaten those berries earlier," he said, nose scrunching up as the smell wafted over, thinking it was a strange for vomit to be red, "actually, might want to get checked up, I think some of your blood came out with that," he said, not really caring though if she was okay, quickly gathering some sticks and tinder together, rubbing two of the sticks against each other, before quickly getting irritated with the process, " Bah, this is ridiculous," he said aloud, before muttering to himself, pointing his finger at the pile as a small stream of fire came out, lighting it ablaze. He smiled, looking at the flame, before looking up at the others. he simply stared for a few seconds, waiting for one of them to say something, before th silence got to him, "I suppose if we are going to be traveling , I out to know the name of the people I'm guiding." he said, waiting for them to say something beffore sighing, "Fine I'll go first." he said, looking down. When he looked back up at them, his face seemed to have changed, a strangely happy look on his face as he spoke in a chipper voice, "Hi everyone, I'm Katherine and am a Kitsune, and it's been three weeks since I stopped drinking," he said, his face going back to its bored expression once he finished, "See, It's easy, now you two go."

Sora

Hearing the irritation in her companion's voice and the sudden and forced change to cheery, she shook herself from her trance, blinking slowly once.

"What's a kitsune?" she asked flatly after a moment. Her breath continued in long, even streams and she didn't move or shift, loathe to break her conscentration. She tried her best to keep her face blank as well. Hopefully the conversation would not be so lively that she had trouble falling back into the reverie. She noticed the other girl's stomach problem and sighed, getting up to look for an herb to help calm said problem. She passed it to the girl. "Here," she said, "It'll help settle your stomach."

Realizing they both knew she was missing while she feed, she vowed to be more careful.  Luckily it didn't appear they knew where she went or why.  She heard the kitsune suddenly ask for names, even though she had already offered her name to the red haired girl.  With a rustle of material, she walked slowly to where the kitune was attempting to build a fire.  She leaned down and extended a hand, "Yezall", then squatting near the fire, "Nice to meet you." She then turned her attention to the red haired girl.

Kat sighed as he heard the elf's question, still lacking a name for her "My my, you are young, never to have heard of the kitsune." he said leaing back on a tree as he sat down, sending a slight illusion over the two girls, an image of a single tailed fox, "Kitsunes, so the story most races believe, are foxes that have managed to survive for a century, rising to a more spiritual level, gaining vast intellect once they do," he said, morphing the fox into something more humanoid, looking exactly like Kat save for three less tails, "Each century we survive, we gain a tail, each one giving us more intellect and power, or we can gain them through the blessing of Inari, though that is rare with less and less religious kitsunes around now." He told them, adding tails as he continued, stopping at nine, "the most that have ever been acquired has been nine, though no one is sure as to why that is, even if the kitsune lives for another century.Though some speculate that the ones who do have achieved a higher plane of spirituality, and have ascended as a god," he told them, a tenth tail starting to form before it seemed to vanish,  "We have a few abilities, our main ones being illusion and fire," he saidm pausing for a moment before smiling, "There's more I could tell you, but one of a Kitsune's favorite things is to hoard information, so you'll have to figure out the rest on your own."

Callista

Rolling her eyes and looking the other way she now knew that the kitsune was very full of himself. Hmmm what she has to put up with to get what she wants. Again turning her attention the the kitsune then the red haired girl, "So not that I really care, but do either of you have names?"

Sora

She tilted her head to the side, brow knitted, seemingly confused. She blinked a few times and said nothing to the strange -- and probably delirious -- fox/man. Instead, she turned her attention to Yezall, who still hadn't accepted the herb.

"It isn't poison. I promise." She smiled. "I'm Somiel," she replied brightly.

Wrinkling her nose at the herb she offered she replied, "Sorry, it would only make me worse but I appreciate the thought. Good to know you, Somiel", she lied extending her hand again. A grimace rather than a grin showed on her face. She can't imagine what she was thinking when she decided to go to the ruins with these two!  Then again yes she did....

She shrugged and pocketed the plant, extending her hand again to shake the one offered her.

"And you, as well." She tugged the girl closer to mutter conspiratorially into her ear. Her gaze unconsciously fell on the fox/man as she spoke. "Our guide seems to be full of all sorts of interesting stories," she said, hoping he wouldn't hear, and that her listener would understand her meaning. He's clearly insane.

She stared in disbelief as Somiel drew her close. Then listening to what she had to say she again stared at her, thinking. 'Maybe this one isn't so bad after all' . "Yes", she whispered also unconsciously gazing  upon the kitsune, " I agree, I just hope he knows where he is going"

Kat raised one of his eyebrows as the two talked between themselves, sighing as he could geuss what thye were talking about, but really, what did it matter what they thought of him, so long as they managed to do their jobs, they could think him to be a freaking cow for all he cared. "Whatever, I'm going to sleep now, and waking up once the sun tommorow morning," he said, lying down , curling around himself as he laye his head on his tails using them as a pillow, "If you plan on following me to the ruins, you better be up before I leave, otherwise you best be able to track me through the woods." he told them before closing his eyes, setting an illusion over the campsite quickly to help keep them hidden through out the night.

Sora

"Very well," she conceded, confident that she'd be able to do both: be awake before the curious one, and track him through the woods if she needed to.

He lay down in the grass, and she sat again, calming herself once more. The air around them shimmered for a moment and she went for her bow, knocking an arrow. "What was that?" she demanded in a whisper.
