Shadowrun 4th Ed

I am considering running a Shadowrun game. I was young darlings when Shadowrun 1st ed came out. Was one of my favourite games back then. I have not played it in quite some time and as I have 4th ed on the shelf might be time to dust it off.

Basic rules.
Open to male, female, straight or gay. I don't mind. The sexual side of it will be worked out by you guys the players and nothing should be pushed on to a player who does not want it.

CORE BOOK ONLY. I know a lot of people want stuff from other books but the Core has cool stuff and I have it.

Time to make a Character: I'm willing to be flexible but lets be realistic. I hae seen games on forums take 6 weeks to start waiting on a character. I made a Pathfinder character this morning and it took an hour if that. There is no reason other than not actually doing it for it to take that long. If the reason is Player X is mega busy then they are too busy to keep up in the game. Not trying to be rude at all, but the object is to play.

No Bad-asses: What I mean by that isn't that you should not be capable. Its that strange thing some players do. This is your first run. Up till now you've done small time stuff. You have got noticed but this run, right now is the first one where you know the term Shadowrunner applies. It doesn't mean that your Street Samurai is actually scared, or the Elven Mage is asking herself why is she here and does she belong, Though there is some cool RP in that. Its more about knowing their place. Players have threatened Mr Johnson's or demanded staggering increases in payment. Standing behind them is 10,000 other would be runners itching to fill their shoes. Its the player at the meet when held at a empty warehouse goes and stands in the dark corner of the place and is 120' from the meeting (or all the players doing it which once happened). Be your character but just remember this is the start of your Running career.

Posting: Aim for once a day. More if you want. Not enough games are finishing and a game that would take an hour round a table is taking up to a year in forum. So if we can keep it moving then so much the better. Things happen and there are holidays etc that's fine.

Part of the reason is I am trying to keep it simple. For me. Its been a fair while since I have run this game and never 4th ed.

Keep it as simple as possible.

I am sure between myself and the others you will get all the help you will need with your character. So it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going with an adept, likely from a throwback community so won't know much about city living.

Them there computer things and fancy gadgets, don't need them things. (spits)  Okay might be not that bad but likely will not be well suited to the big city sprawl at first and not have much technology over some guns and body armor and her amazing adept advantages. And lots of non-tech skills honed up well.

Ruby, you only take the highest value for actual protection, but everything is added together for encumbrance.

If you were wearing armor clothing 4/0 and a leather jacket 2/2, then you'd have 4/2 but compare encumbrance to 6/2.

Hacker my character is a Gunslinger Adept forging herself with magic and cybernetics to be a lethal gunfighter, her only headware is a commlink and standard sim chip set-up the pretty basic set-up for a someone, she doesn't trust plugging herself into any computers. ;)

And I'm ,if I got the rules right, badass at what she does and is athletic and sneaky to boot.

 Well, going by the "sample characters", I would be making a slightly modified Covert Ops Specialist. Possibly she had been recently let go from one of the corporations.

And by let go, I mean the corp wants her dead.

I'm more self trained living in the crap and getting what jobs I can score but they seem to be kind of alike save my character doesn't use much on high-tech front. Revolvers and bullets are cheap!

If I think I can handle two separate games (though doing the exact same adventures) then I will consider doing so. I want to do a Pathfinder game as well as I have that book. So I don't want to overload myself. But if I can handle running the two games I will let the second group of four know.

I can drop if somebody else wants the spot.  I've had the chance to play before (many times, really) and I get how people want to at least get the chance to try it.

If someone does want that spot, then Sithgod, if you need someone to bounce ideas against, I can try to help.

As far as location, Seattle tends to be pretty much the generic standard.  There's already a book out which gives a lot of details about the area, and it's a good middle ground which has a little bit of everything.

I don't expect Anoctura to get overly sexy, although she's going to have that Trid Phantasm spell.  My original plan for this idea was to have her have a Day Job via that spell and living out people's fantasies, but since we're using core only, I can't take that one.

My computer died and took all my digital e-books with them this includes Shadowrun and I'm not sure how long it will take me to replace them all. Add to that I'm on Windows 8 now and it sucks I don't know how to do a lot of things on this laptop. So am opting out.

Hi, sorry I'm late.  Whipped up a new concept right quick, partially because she' just hit me, partially because Ruby seems to have left us. 

Natsuke Yamamoro goes by the street name Sentinal.  She's just old enough that she remembers not having an SIN, and that it was miserable.  After Dunklezhan's death, she and her parents managed to get a SIN with Renraku, giving her a chance to grow up safe and comfortable and get an education.  Out of gratitude, she was going to join Renraku Corp-sec and dreamed of becoming one of their elites. 

Before she could realize this dream, for reasons she's still not entirely clear on, the metahumans in her freshman college class were framed for some corporate catastrophe.  Natsuke was shunted away to a back woods corperate prison and languished there for a few months, unable to reach a lawyer, or her parents, or... 

A team of runners out of the NAN hit the prison to release one of her cell mates. An adept looked at her twice, then gave her the, "Come with me if you want to live," bit. 

his name was Gabriel Five Falcons.  He got her out, got her a temporary visa to stay in NAN territory.  He taught her to harness her adept abilities in ways that heightened her senses to unbelievable acuity. 

This actually had some negative side effects given that she has yet to learn to control her heightened sense of pain, and AR--which she enjoys using otherwise--throws her a bit off balance. 

Before her VISA expired, she managed to acquire basic runner gear, and now has moved to Seattle, meaning to make her living as a runner, an inside agent tearing down the system that betrayed her.
