Samurai Jack Season 5 Hype Thread!
« on: February 06, 2017, 03:29:36 PM »
So this just dropped a few hours earlier.

Needless to say, I have never been more excited before for the return of this show than I am now. For the past year hearing that Samurai Jack was being revived was awesome but now having a full trailer? Beyond awesome!

So I'm starting this thread up to see if anyone else is hyped for the darker adult focused conclusion to Jack's story.

I heard he's suppose to make a comeback!

One thing I and plenty of others have noticed is Jack is missing his sword. I'm really curious the story behind that!

I just hope the clips we saw were only from the first or second episode and haven't given too much away from the rest of the season.

Agreed. Its supposed to only be a ten episode season if I'm right so it may have been only one or two episodes worth of footage we saw in the trailer. I'm just glad they didn't spoil anything concerning the final fight against Jack and Aku in the trailer. I want to go into that blind.

Kinda wondering who they'll get to voice Aku.  I know they got a pretty decent fellow to take over Iroh when Mako died.

Gendy already confirmed we'll be seeing everyone's favorite insult slinging scottsman in the new/last season.

I noticed the clip with Jack having a sword/dagger in his side with quite a bit of blood. I know the original series followed what TMNT tends to do in making the majority of the villains robotic in some way. That way they could get around the ratings and time slot issues with children seeing massive amounts of blood in heavy fight scenes. Instead of seeing human blood and limbs flying everywhere, it was just oil and wires. With Adult Swim taking over Samurai Jack, I'm excited to see that they might be taking the theme of the show more seriously than it was before (not that it didn't have a serious tone before, but they are adulting it up a little).

I'm so excited for this.

Has anyone else noticed that Jack doesn't have his magic sword in any of the shots in that trailer?

I'm going to have to research how to pick it up here in Scotland. I have memories that Adult Swim channel share with another broadcaster but can't find them right now. Hopefully it'll come to Netflix or Google Play.

YES! Finally this great show actually gets a conclusion. What is really funny to me is I actually re-watched the whole series like a year ago, so this is pretty awesome!

Some fans are speculating that while Jack's appearance and lack of sword is what will be the initial appearance for most of the season. After losing all of his armor as seen in the trailer and regaining his sword. Some are expecting him to don his white robe once again and face Aku one last time in his classic look.

If you pause the video at the top of the thread at 0:25, I just noticed there is a katana on the back of the horseman. It could possibly be Jack's.

Might want to put a spoiler tag on that.

Fixed it

"Jack and the Lava Monster" is a personal fave, especially the ending:

And this scene in "Samurai vs. Ninja":

Just found this. Its going to be the same replacement actor for Iroh. Greg Baldwin will voice Aku for the final season.

Three more amazing moments from Samurai Jack:

1. Aku challenges Jack to a final showdown (Jack vs. Aku).

2. The "Winter" and "Spring" sections from the award-winning episode The Four Seasons of Death.

And now Jack is truly back. With the first episode out here is my review below. Don't click if you don't want spoilers

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

The transition from hand drawn to the new computer can be seen in a few instances but the animation still holds up well and still has the Samurai Jack vibe to it despite this.

Despite being only half an hour long there was plenty of content that in my opinion didn't feel overdone. We see most of Jack's new arsenal on display, the origins of the masked women from the trailers and get our first look into Jack's PTSD (something Freud would probably have a field day with.) While its clear we don't have the full story yet on what's going on in Jack's head or the full circumstances on his situation it was a great way to bring the audience up to speed on what happened in the fifty years in between in the short amount of time and left room to reveal more down the road.

In fact I feel as if this episode is a tribute to the original series. Jack taking on a horde of beetle bots like in the first episode but doing it much easier than his first battle with the older models. A crazy robot villain with strange abilities serving as the baddie of the week. Said machine even breaks the fourth wall with the changes done.

Not to mention the thing I really found interesting was the Daughters of Aku's training scenes. They are truly feeling like the Anti-Jacks. All children trained (Albeitly longer than Jack) since childhood to adults with the sole mission to destroy their "father's" enemy. Its like an inversion of what made Jack into the formidable warrior he is.

We even get to hear Aku briefly despite not making a full appearance, it was long so its hard to tell but right now Greg Baldwin was able to pull off Mako's take on the evil wizard quite well.

My money is on Aishi the last remaining Daughter of Aku still being alive. Since we only saw her fall right before Jack, so she may have been swallowed up by whatever also got him.

So only 2 episodes left till the season is over......anyone else worried that we wont see a real ending? It feels like it might just end with jack getting his sword and setting out again :/ not one final glorious battle between the two.
