Scope of these forums

With the rising activity on these forums (yay! ^_^) I have to ask if people would like to see a larger amount of general discussion areas.  About a hundred posters visit daily now, and our lives are not all sex (unfortunately?)

Some of the community areas on rpol come to mind.  I'm considering a separate religion/politics area where things said there stay there, a humor/jokes forum, and an 'edumacational' forum for people with programming/science/math/whatever questions.

In any case, let us know what you think.

I tcertainly would be good to have some 'normal' chat style forums.
There are some great people here and we should be able to get to know them on a more personal level as well.....

(Hopefully it will cut down on my private messages too?)

I am a little hessitant about religion and politics though.
Of course if people are grown up about it, then there wouldn't be a problem, then again, they are the two most emotive subjects to get people behaving like children.

I did some humble attempts at programming, maybe someone

Humor and Jokes, surely.

Religion and Politics... Could be a problem.
While an obviously 'hedonistic' forum won't get too much 'bible-thumping'
members, there are always the very inflamable topics about
socialism and capitalism, war on terror, united nations, china, and a certain
mr. Bush...

Then there's Godwin's law.
Politics mean that someone will have to be the nazi.

Of course there could be a miracle and the members will be so nice
not to start flames...

I think that is asking far too much of anyone my angelic little green skin.
Sadly I have seen completely sane, rational and mature people turned to the most incredibly childish morons when someone disagrees with their opinions on certain topics.
I doubt very much that anyone on this site (including myself) could manage not to loose it and flame.

However, it would be fantastic if I were to be proved wrong.

I think expanding is a great idea.  It would give players a chance to express themselves in other ways, assuming they want to.  For those that do, it gives us a chance to get to know the person behind the characters a little better.

We've had at least two fundamentalist christians on these boards.  Both have left, but there may be others.  Then again it's not exactly a target market.

In any discussion, there's a good chance someone is going to be wrong, of course.  If someone can't handle being wrong, they shouldn't try to be right.

Depends on what you consider fundamentalist Christian.

I am Southern Baptist, very involved as such.  But I am also an outsider and well, I'm here...

So, go figure.

I know we have a writers area as well as all the games. But what about a story area where several artists get together and work on stories, more than short posts .. like some of the stories, I have and am trying to make my stories with longer posts to add to them.
